Mill House is a very friendly nursing home. It is very well run by a team who are present and front of house. All staff who work there are caring and helpful. The trained nursing team are professional and apply current knowledge to their patients who need a little more care. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone who works there. My father was looked after by a lovely team of carers and domiciliary staff. Nobody passed his room without a friendly chat and words of encouragement. The outside to the main road doesn't reflect the warmth and standards of care inside. Some carpets need renewing.
Mum was only in Mill House for a short time but all the staff were friendly and caring and couldn't do enough for her, especially in her last days. They also made us very welcome. Would highly recommend this home.
I cannot recommend Mill House enough. Not only is everyone so friendly and warm, but nothing was too much trouble in terms of the help and support they gave us when we were trying desperately to get my aunty moved to Mill House from her previous home. The whole process was new to us and not without its complications and stresses in terms of dealing with the council but the administrator especially went above and beyond to support and advise us with every step. In terms of the care provided, it is second to none. From the moment my aunty arrived we felt like we had her back again. We realised she had been unhappy for so long and suddenly she was back to herself upon arriving at Mill House. Everyone welcomed her and spent time with her, she was immediately included in the activities which she really enjoyed. The positive impact Mill House and everyone who works there has had upon my aunty in such a short time is incredible. Don’t hesitate to choose Mill House you won’t regret it.
Great service, friendly staff. Good communication, care home contacted me once a week to talk about my mum and how she was getting on. Would highly recommend care home. Staff couldn't do enough for my mum.
My mum came into Mill House Care Home last year as end-of-life. The care she has been given and continues to receive has been exceptional and to everyone's surprise, my mum has improved tremendously. She still struggles with poor health from time to time but the improvement is so good and this is down to the wonderful care she receives at Mill House. The staff are all so welcoming and seen to always find the time for everyone. My mum's needs always seem to be met and she tells everyone how much she loves it there and how lovely the staff are. They also have regular activities. I am so happy with my mum's care, it gives me complete peace of mind to know she's safe and happy.
In a very difficult time for my family, my mother was looked after very well by the nurses and management, in particular, the first sad days.
A dear family friend was admitted to Mill House Nursing Home for palliative care. We were very impressed by the exceptional care that he received during his final months, kind, caring, respectful and professional. Also for the compassion and way his friends were treated after our friend had passed away, by all of the team at Mill House. Thank you.
The loving care, kindness and concern shown to my Grampy and the whole family was amazing. I know it was very difficult caring for my Grampy because of his needs but the team at Mill House Nursing Home always made every effort to make him comfortable.
I was welcomed with kindness and understanding. During my week stay, I was looked after well and all my needs were met. This was despite the fact that the staff were incredibly overworked.
Staff are very friendly and caring.
Felt my partner was very well cared for.
Didn't worry about leaving him in their care.
Your review brightened our day! It's wonderful to hear that your partner is having a positive experience at Mill House Care Home in our care. Thank you again.
My mother has been here since March, so far the care has been very good, the majority of the staff are wonderful. The activities coordinators have made me very welcome to attend some of the parties they've put on and they work very hard for the residents, even though most seem like they're not interested they carry on and encourage everyone to join in.
Excellent care at all times, wonderful entertainment every day. Mother does more now than when she was at home. Staff always happy and smiley, always happy to help. Mother still goes to the garden centre, lovely hairdressers. Great to see Mum's hair looking nice. Thank you all.
I have been very happy with the care my husband has received at Mill House. The staff are very welcoming and go out of their way to help. They are very good at sorting out any problems as soon as possible. They always have a smile on their faces. They do an excellent job of trying to interest people in arts and crafts. They bring special occasions to life by decorating and entertaining.
Second to none.
My mother was in your care home for six months and was treated with love and care and we were very pleased with the end of life care she was given, thank you.
We found the staff extremely caring and very friendly and supportive, not just for the resident but family also. Always looked forward to going to visit as was always made welcome. Had no complaints, my mother-in-law was well looked after at all times before she sadly passed away.
The staff looked after my mum very well, they are very friendly and make visitors welcome. We still pop in to see everyone on coffee mornings.
The staff that we met were very friendly and helpful. Mum seemed more settled than in her previous residential care home. The older building means that rooms were not over spacious but everything was there that was needed.
Thank you, for your comments about your recent experience at Mill House Care Home. Our residents’ well-being is our main priority and it is great to hear that you were pleased with the quality of our care.
My father only had days to live, the staff were truly amazing, kind, heartwarming and made his last days as comfortable as they could. They were also kind to us in our hours of need. I would recommend this nursing home 100%.
My grandmother always felt at home in Mill House. The staff consistently treated her with warmth and respect and always kept her comfortable.

Nicki started working in Health and Social Care as a qualified Nurse in 1986. She worked on the Ophthalmology ward, ENT and ran outpatient clinics at St Georges Hospital in London. When Nicki moved to Oxfordshire, she worked as an agency nurse and discovered how much she enjoyed working in Nursing Homes. When she isn’t working, Nicki enjoys long country walks with her dogs, competitive cycling and climbing mountains such as Snowdon!
Words of encouragement from Nicki for someone looking for the right home would be: “It’s not the place, it’s the people that make a home. It has to feel warm, welcoming and comfortable.”
