I would recommend but with reservations as to the high level of cost and the rate of annual increases. Well in excess of inflation and average earnings.

My father has been in Acorn court for just over two years now. Generally, he is well looked after and the staff interact with him often which keeps his mind active He appears happy which is important to the whole family. On occasion, I have had to point out lack of cleanliness and some other minor issues.

Since arriving at Acorn Court in December 2014, Mum's care and support have improved so well that she is happy and contented, which means we feel so grateful to everyone at Acorn Court for looking after her so well. Acorn Court is a well run, friendly, caring care home. My mum has received outstanding care since she arrived in June 2016. I wouldn't want her to go to any other home. All of the staff know her needs and provide a safe environment for her.

My mother is cared for with kindness and thought for her needs and dignity.


The home tries so hard for all its residents and the quality of the carers cannot be faulted. The staff are consistent and so mum has several people she has seen since she entered the home which is really important in mine

and my sister's view.

My wife has been a resident at Acorn Court for the past three years and in that time I have had not a single moment of worry or concern for her care and welfare. The care staff are marvellous, they really do care, creating a happy and friendly environment for all and together with a high quality management
team, it is an extremely fine establishment. I have previously dealt with other care homes regarding other members of the family over the past years and have found Acorn Count far superior, my wife is kept safe, healthy and happy for which I am extremely grateful. My mother has been a resident at Acorn Court for almost 18 months. When my husband and I went to review the home we were impressed with how clean it was. The manager took the time to show us around and told us on what floor Mum would be. She introduced us to other members of staff. When we visit you
get a warm welcome smile from whoever is on reception. When Mum was unwell a doctor was called and she was given medication and she felt better after a couple of days. I don't have to worry that she receives her medication and has regular visits from the podiatrists and visits the in house hairdresser. Since having a fall at home, she was frightened to walk on her own and was transferred to Acorn from the hospital, she is still unable to walk and the home are aware that she is not confident and take time with her, she is always clean and changed frequently. I would happily recommend Acorn Court.

Mum has been a resident of Acorn Court for 4 years now and we are so glad we found this place, we can’t imagine she could be in a better one. There are so many horror stories in the press these days about care homes that it’s a massive comfort to know she is in a good one, which we can be sure she is
because of the many wonderful, kind, caring members of staff we’ve met that work there. Mum herself is always singing their praises too, and clearly feels safe in their care.


The home is kept to a high standard in terms of appearance and cleanliness.


All in all we can highly recommend Acorn Court to anyone choosing a care home.

My son has been a resident in Acorn Court's Acquired Brain Injury Unit for the past nine years. He has very complexed needs, but the nurses and dedicated carers have risen to the challenge.
Everyone works to ensure that all his medical and comfort needs are met. I could not ask for a more professional,

My mother has been a resident at Acorn Court for just over a year.
The care that mum receives is excellent, the staff treat mum with dignity and compassion. Nothing is too much trouble, the staff react quickly when they notice mum is unwell, if necessary the doctor is called.
When I visit mum,
I am always greeted with a smile from the staff.
If I have any questions about mum they take the time to speak to me. The staff are well trained in understanding dementia and this is consistent with every member of staff. The entertainment provided at Acorn Court is varied and stimulating. The hairdresser makes a fantastic job of cutting mums hair. The food that is served is well cooked and varied, with plenty of choices.
I am able to take my dog into see mum, this also cheers mum up. I would recommend Acorn Court for anyone needing great care for a loved one. Thank you again to the manager and her team you are wonderful people.

The care my mother receives at Acorn Court is exceptional.
Mum has dementia and she settled into Acorn Court very well.
6 months on mum is happy and she has recently started to sing, this shows she is content.
All the carers show empathy, kindness, respect and understanding of mum's condition.
The nursing care is excellent, a doctor is called when required and I am kept informed.
The home is bright, clean, with excellent food. The staff make me feel very welcome, they say it's your mother's home now, we simply work here. I have been asked to stay for dinner many times. The staff make birthdays special, every resident will have a cake made for them and the staff sing Happy Birthday, it is very special.


I cannot fault the home, it is a very difficult thing to put a loved one in to care but with Acorn Court I do not have to worry, I have peace of mind mum is very well cared for.
I would not hesitate in recommending Acorn Court.

Acorn Court came to my rescue when Dad (the carer) was suddenly taken into hospital and my mum (a dementia patient) needed respite care. Within 24 hours of me visiting them, Mum was settling in. All the staff were accommodating and friendly and Mum enjoyed her time there. After a couple of days,
staff noticed Mum was unwell so a doctor was called, a diagnosis made, a prescription arranged and within a few days, she was much better.

Acorn Court offers a really high level of service and a full programme of events, more like a holiday park than a care home. Lots of tea trolleys with biscuits, lovely friendly staff - always on hand to listen. A dining room with lovely laid tables and the gardens are very pretty and accessible.
A care home is a good description of Acorn Court. We are always confident that our mother is getting the very best of care and attention.

I recommended my friend's mother to move into Acorn Court after her long stay in hospital.
She is very settled and is very happy in her new home. The carers are really efficient, loving and friendly and the home is efficiently managed. There are lots of activities available which means that she is
mentally stimulated, which is just what she needs as she is a very intelligent and 'switched on' lady.
She has commented to me about the quality of the food and service, with plenty of choice and hot and cold options available.
I would certainly recommend Acorn Court to other friends.

Both my father and, previously my mother-in-law have been residents in Acorn Court. Everyone there has been excellent. The care, cleanliness, nurturing could hardly be bettered and some of the staff are exceptional. The nursing care is second to none with doctors called as soon as required. The residents
best interests are looked after and these services also apply to relatives. You really feel part of the family.

Paula Deadman

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

Paula knew she wanted to become a nurse from the age of five when, during regular hospital visits to see her grandma, she found pleasure in delivering the water jugs and chatting to the other patients with the nurses on the ward. From then on, she knew one day she would become a nurse and that passion, to make a difference, never wavered.

Her early career saw Paula working as a pharmacy technician and in her mid-20s she made the move to return to her early love and studied to become a registered nurse.

Since then, she’s gained a wealth of experience, working as a staff nurse, sister and matron in hospitals and the community and then as a care home manager at a local nursing home. After joining our Acorn Court family as our director of nursing, Paula was then promoted to our home manager in 2024.

Mum to two sons, James and William, Paula married husband Adam in 2009 and completing their family are Elsie and Dottie, their two rescue greyhounds. Her love of baking cakes keeps Paula busy in her spare time when she particularly enjoys not only baking cakes but also decorating them into all sorts of wonderful creations!

Speaking about Acorn Court, Paula said: “Our amazing residents, their families and our team are why I love being here. Being part of our residents’ lives is such an honour and working as part of a loving team who are all there to make every day special for our residents is such a privilege.”

Ami’s journey in care began at just 15, volunteering at Acorn Court, where her mother was home manager. Inspired by her compassion and seeing the difference she made in the lives she touched, Ami knew she would follow a similar career path.


Over the past 14 years, Ami has grown from a carer to a Care Services Manager, embracing every role with love and dedication. Her commitment to resident well-being led to the creation of the award-winning ‘Little Acorns’ programme, fostering intergenerational connections. Ami is devoted to enhancing care services and empowering her team to be the best that they can be.


In her spare time, Ami loves to relax by gardening and spending time with her young family.
