I am extremely happy with the care my mother receives. She is always well looked after. The staff are kind and attentive and have gone beyond 'the call of duty' in making sure my step father is also looked after.

My mother has been a resident at Acorn for three and a half years. Her behaviour was initially quite challenging and the staff dealt with this with good patience, maintaining her safety and dignity at all times. The staff turnover is low which indicates commitment and a teamwork approach. The...
There are issues around laundry being mislaid but that is a common experience in care homes. The food is fantastic and for that reason, I try to visit my mother at mealtimes. The recent improvements to the dining facilities are first class. Most importantly I find all staff very easy to engage with and feel reassured that they actively and positively care for my mother.
Ruth thank you for your kind review, your Mother is always a delight to look after, she has had such an amazing week this week reaching her 100th year. Meeting Madam Mayor and several party celebrations along the way. Regards Monica.
I would recommend but with reservations as to the high level of cost and the rate of annual increases. Well in excess of inflation and average earnings.

My overall experience is that it is one of the best homes I have seen. My Mum has settled down now and is being seen to the best of their ability. The outlook is nice and everyone is always friendly.

I would certainly recommend Acorn Court to anyone looking for a care home. Mum feels part of the Acorn Court family, as we all do. This reflects the hard work and dedication of management and the wonderful nursing and caring staff. Thank you all at Acorn Court.
Nice home, good staff. Over use of TV to divert and engage residents. Poor return of clothes through the laundry.

Thank you for taking the time to send a response, If you at any time would like to make an appointment with myself and Petra we would be happy to address the areas of your responses that fail to meet either good or excellent as this is always our aim here at Acorn Court.
Kind Regards

Acorn Court is a well run, friendly, caring care home. My mum has received outstanding care since she arrived in June 2016. I wouldn't want her to go to any other home. All of the staff know her needs and provide a safe environment for her.

The home tries so hard for all its residents and the quality of the carers cannot be faulted. The staff are consistent and so mum has several people she has seen since she entered the home which is really important in mine and my sister's view.
Kind Regards, Monica.
I love the place. I chose to come here. The staff are lovely. The manager and the little dog visit me every day.

My wife has been a resident at Acorn Court for the past three years and in that time I have had not a single moment of worry or concern for her care and welfare. The care staff are marvellous, they really do care, creating a happy and friendly environment for all and together with a high quality management team, it is an extremely fine establishment. I have previously dealt with other care homes regarding other members of the family over the past years and have found Acorn Count far superior, my wife is kept safe, healthy and happy for which I am extremely grateful. Keep up the good work, you not only enhance the lives of the residents but also the relatives to whom they are held dear. Well done!
Kind Regards, Monica.

My mother has been a resident at Acorn Court for almost 18 months. When my husband and I went to review the home we were impressed with how clean it was. The manager took the time to show us around and told us on what floor Mum would be. She introduced us to other members of staff. When we visit you get a warm welcome smile from whoever is on reception. When Mum was unwell a doctor was called and she was given medication and she felt better after a couple of days. I don't have to worry that she receives her medication and has regular visits from the podiatrists and visits the in house hairdresser. Since having a fall at home, she was frightened to walk on her own and was transferred to Acorn from the hospital, she is still unable to walk and the home are aware that she is not confident and take time with her, she is always clean and changed frequently. I would happily recommend Acorn Court.
Thank you for taking the time to do a review of Acorn Court, we're delighted that you are happy with the care and attention that your mother receives, she is a pleasure to look after.
Kind Regards Monica.

Mum has been a resident of Acorn Court for 4 years now and we are so glad we found this place, we can’t imagine she could be in a better one. There are so many horror stories in the press these days about care homes that it’s a massive comfort to know she is in a good one, which we can be sure she is because of the many wonderful, kind, caring members of staff we’ve met that work there. Mum herself is always singing their praises too, and clearly feels safe in their care.
The home is kept to a high standard in terms of appearance and cleanliness.
All in all we can highly recommend Acorn Court to anyone choosing a care home.
Thank you also for allowing us the privilege of caring for your mum here at Acorn.

Thank you June for taking the time to place a review for Acorn, it really does help other families looking for a suitable care facility. Thank you for allowing us to care for your Son.
The care that mum receives is excellent, the staff treat mum with dignity and compassion. Nothing is too much trouble, the staff react quickly when they notice mum is unwell, if necessary the doctor is called.

When I visit mum, I am always greeted with a smile from the staff.
If I have any questions about mum they take the time to speak to me. The staff are well trained in understanding dementia and this is consistent with every member of staff. The entertainment provided at Acorn Court is varied and stimulating. The hairdresser makes a fantastic job of cutting mums hair. The food that is served is well cooked and varied, with plenty of choices.
I am able to take my dog into see mum, this also cheers mum up. I would recommend Acorn Court for anyone needing great care for a loved one. Thank you again to the manager and her team you are wonderful people.

Paula knew she wanted to become a nurse from the age of five when, during regular hospital visits to see her grandma, she found pleasure in delivering the water jugs and chatting to the other patients with the nurses on the ward. From then on, she knew one day she would become a nurse and that passion, to make a difference, never wavered. Her early career saw Paula working as a pharmacy technician and in her mid-20s she made the move to return to her early love and studied to become a registered nurse.
Since then, she’s gained a wealth of experience, working as a staff nurse, sister and matron in hospitals and the community and then as a care home manager at a local nursing home. After joining our Acorn Court family as our director of nursing, Paula was then promoted to our home manager in 2024.
Mum to two sons, James and William, Paula married husband Adam in 2009 and completing their family are Elsie and Dottie, their two rescue greyhounds. Her love of baking cakes keeps Paula busy in her spare time when she particularly enjoys not only baking cakes but also decorating them into all sorts of wonderful creations!
Speaking about Acorn Court, Paula said: “Our amazing residents, their families and our team are why I love being here. Being part of our residents’ lives is such an honour and working as part of a loving team who are all there to make every day special for our residents is such a privilege.”

Ami’s journey in care began at just 15, volunteering at Acorn Court, where her mother was home manager. Inspired by her compassion and seeing the difference she made in the lives she touched, Ami knew she would follow a similar career path.
Over the past 14 years, Ami has grown from a carer to a Care Services Manager, embracing every role with love and dedication. Her commitment to resident well-being led to the creation of the award-winning ‘Little Acorns’ programme, fostering intergenerational connections. Ami is devoted to enhancing care services and empowering her team to be the best that they can be.
In her spare time, Ami loves to relax by gardening and spending time with her young family.
