Very well managed and caring home. From the moment we were shown around we felt at ease. The level of care from the staff was truly wonderful and we could easily see they genuinely cared about their residents. The food served was excellent, and there was a good variety of activities offered.
Thank you for your lovely review, it is very much appreciated by myself and all the team here.
Mu husband received end of life care in The Bernard Surley. The staff were phenomenal and compassionate and dedicated, nothing was too much trouble. The home felt friendly and was a welcoming place for visitors in the final days.
Thank you for your great review. It is most appreciated by myself and all the team here.
As soon as my dad came to The Bernard Sunley Home he was so welcomed and cared for so beautifully. All the staff were amazing, their laughter, fun, care, reassurance and gentleness were outstanding. I cannot thank everyone enough. I thank them also for looking after me! Thank you, Bernard Sunley, for being such a lovely home.
Thank you for the lovely review, it is really appreciated by everyone here. Don't be a stranger, pop in and see us when you can for a cuppa and catch up!
My relative came for a period of respite after being in hospital following a house fire. He arrived with virtually no belongings whilst we were trying to sort things out. The staff + management went above + beyond throughout his stay. They were supportive of myself too, as well as him, throughout the entire stay. I cannot thank the team enough for everything. They made a very traumatic time so much better. Side note am told bed was comfy + food/coffee/cake were great!
Thank you for the lovely review. I hope he has settled into his new house now. Many thanks
When visiting we are always made to feel welcome by all staff which is very much appreciated. My mother who has Alzheimers also says how well staff look after her including the food.
Whilst it doesn't affect the star rating there is sometimes an issue with parking but there is a free car park 500 yards away.
Thank you so much for the care, affection you gave to my husband. The welcome we just received on our arrival was so welcoming, smiles making my husband feel he would be well looked after. The staff always greeted warmly. His bedroom was just great, overlooking the gardens and a lovely print of a river over his bed. He was a great fisherman, and loved the garden. Thank you all so much.
Thank you for your lovely review, it is greatly appreciated. Please remember you will always be welcome here to pop in and join our coffee mornings and activities, or just to sit and have a chat. Take care.
I stayed in Bernard Sunley Home for four days. This was respite care to allow my wife to go on a short break. I was very impressed by the home. It is well-run, and the staff all seemed friendly, caring, and interested in me. They were all very helpful whenever I had any special requests or needs. I would have no hesitation in staying at Bernard Sunley again and would recommend it to others too.
Thanks for the lovely review. Great to meet you! All the best.
Although it was only the briefest of stays, the kindness of the staff was so wonderful. In a stressful "end of life" scenario, they helped our situation, and we will always be truly thankful.
Thank you for the lovely review, it is much appreciated. I am glad we could be there for you when needed.
Fantastic end of life care with a totally beautiful prayer for my mum after she had died.
This was such a genuine moment from a wonderful nurse.
Can't recommend enough.
Thank you for your lovely review, it is much appreciated by all the team here at Bernard Sunley.
In the very stressful last few days my wife was with us, it is difficult to describe how magnificent everyone was to all the family. It really felt as though everyone was part of one big family.
No one wants their loved one to go into a care home but if that becomes inevitable, I cannot praise Bernard Sunley highly enough and would recommend them without reservation.
Thank you for this amazing review, it is really appreciated by myself and all the team.
My mother has been a resident at Bernard Sunley for six months. In that time she has been treated with great care and dignity. The whole team run a very nice home and I cannot praise them all highly enough. Would definitely recommend this care home.
Thank you for your lovely review. It's a pleasure having mum here with us.
My mother has been a resident since July 2023. All the staff have always been excellent however when my mother sadly passed away in February, they went above and beyond. They were all so caring and kind. Myself, my sister and my father all felt so cared for and the love they showed towards my late mother was so touching. Words can't express our appreciation. Thank you.
Thank you for your lovely review, it is much appreciated. Please make sure Dad is not a stranger... I will always have a cuppa and his cake ready!
My mum received palliative care at The Bernard Sunley Nursing and Dementia Care Home at the end of her life. It was excellent and across all areas, nursing, nutrition and housekeeping. All staff were welcoming to her and the family, being responsive and communicating any changes, seeking permissions when needed. At the end of her life, Mum was treated with kindness, care and compassion. Thank you.
Thank you for the lovely review. Mum was a character that will be missed here.
My mother was at The Bernard Sunley Nursing and Dementia Care Home for a year and three quarters. At all times, she was cared for and treated with great consideration, kindness and much medical professionalism and skill. What I most appreciated about Bernard Sunley was the all around atmosphere of compassion and cheerfulness - they couldn't have been kinder or more willing to look after my mother.
Thank you for your kind review. It is most appreciated by all the team.
Our darling mother was looked after in Bernard Sunley for two weeks before she passed on 21st June. Considering under the circumstances our mother was extremely unwell from cancer. The staff and all the management went out of their way and were amazing at caring for our mum in her last few days. My sister and I would like to thank you once again to everyone involved at Bernard Sunley. Amazing team.
Thank you for the lovely review, it is much appreciated by the whole team. We are glad we could be there for mum and your family at the time in need. Thank you.
My husband transferred from another care home at the beginning of June. He has been given lots of stimulation i.e. out of bed! And into his chair or wheelchair. Taken to the dining room. He is much happier and alert most of the time. There are always staff members around. I feel very confident in the care he is having. The atmosphere is very good. The brightly coloured picture and murals are lovely. The cafe is great to take him for a coffee.
Thank you for the lovely review, it is most appreciated.
My father has been in the care of the team at Woking Bernard Sunley for several months and I have nothing but praise for the job they are doing. Without exception, the staff have been amazing - kind, caring and supportive and I can’t thank them enough. The home itself is a lovely environment which is even better following the recent redecoration. It’s spacious and well-lit with plenty of relaxing communal spaces (indoor and out) and bright artwork on the walls. We couldn’t have chosen a better home for my father.
Thank you for the lovely review. It is much appreciated.
The first-class level of patience, empathy and dignity has been nothing short of magical.
The entire team feel like our extended family, with regular updates and an impeccable level of fun, care and warmth all throughout.
A huge thank you.
Thank you for this fantastic review. It is great to be able to share this with my team. Many thanks.
My brother was admitted in September 2023. He had his own room with a window so he could see the trees and sky. Not known to him the staff came into his bedroom on his birthday (07/11/1939) and sang Happy Birthday. The timing was great as we had travelled up from Dorset and enjoyed the care. Our grateful thanks to the Manager and the staff.
Thank you for the review, it is most appreciated by all the team.
Each and every member of staff at The Bernard Sunley Nursing and Dementia Care Home is very friendly and welcoming. The management team have always dealt with any concerns promptly and with understanding, care and compassion. The home is spotlessly clean and the care provided is second to none.
Thank you for the lovely review, it is very appreciated by all the team here.

Meet the Team (1)

I first started with Bernard Sunley in 2014 as an Administrator and soon progressed to Office Manager – these roles allowed me to build trust and relationships with staff, residents and their families. In early 2018 I was promoted to Home Manager and it is my vision to build a home that is fully integrated in its community and to expand on relationships with local services, groups and organisations to enhance the welfare and opportunities for our residents.
Bernard Sunley a welcoming, friendly home where residents and families are encouraged to engage in all aspects of the home from activities to discussions on what they would like to see happening at the home. The atmosphere is relaxed and staff and residents form great relationships built on trust and care.
Quite simply the best thing about my job is the people. We take the time to get to know each resident who lives with us – their likes, dislikes, the lives they have lived and the sort of life they would like to continue to live in our home. To see a family happy and at ease knowing their relative is well looked after and happy is a great reward. But perhaps the biggest reward is being allowed to share a smile, a story, a memory, with some of our residents and knowing that they are happy to give that time to me.
