My aunt has been at Chesnut View for two years, suffering from mild learning needs and dementia as well as being in her late 80's. I have been very impressed with the standard of care provided, especially since there's been a new manager. My aunt is happy, well looked after and has plenty of activities
and socialising on a regular basis. She enjoys her life, the carers always go the extra required to make activities suitable to all residents. The food is good, visitors are warmly welcomed (including pet dogs!) and you're always greeted on 1st name terms. Most importantly it is clear the staff do care about the happiness of their residents, which is the biggest positive for any relative.

My mum has been living at Chestnut View for about eighteen months, after transferring from another care home in the area. Since her arrival, the warmth and dignity she has received have been wonderful and extremely reassuring to me as I live far away. The staff are all so caring, patient and understanding
and treat mum more like a friend than just a resident. And it’s the personal touches from the carers that I know mum really likes. Also, I’m made to feel really welcome, and able to talk and discuss with carers and nurses who I’ve got to know on first name terms. Chestnut View is a truly warm and delightful home, and I feel super grateful to all the terrific staff. Thank you!

My mother has been resident at Chestnut View for the last 18 months, moving from a smaller residential home after a fall and needing nursing care. She has been extremely well looked after by the staff and we have no worries about her care. The rooms are modern and well furnished and kept very clean.
I would recommend Chestnut View unreservedly.

My father has lived in the home for about seven years in the residential area and has recently been transferred to the dementia unit. After an initial confusion, he has now settled into his new room and I believe it has given him a new boost, as he is encouraged to participate more in the activities
on offer. We as a family, have always been very happy with Chestnut View and cannot commend the staff enough.

Since dad arrived here we have all been impressed with the care, support and excellent help he has received. All the staff are excellent and it would be nice for them all to know how much their support is to all of my dads family.
Dad enjoys his days here and is always complimentary of his food, outings
and help/support given to him.
Many thanks to everyone.

What a wonderful care/nursing home. My husband has been cared and loved by these wonderful people for over 2 and a half years now. They are all like my extended family. I have recently had to make the decision to place my mother who is 97 into a care home and there could only be one choice for our family
and this is the best choice "Chestnut View" Haslemere. Outstanding care and love from the manager and all her staff. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

I came to the Chestnut View Care Home last October from the hospital on palliative care due to a liver failure. My two daughters told me that the specialist at the hospital had given me about 2 weeks to live. Due to the fantastic care is given to me in this care home and the marvellous food, my appetite
improved and my liver and kidney readings improved. After that, I was diagnosed with cancer of the right tonsil, had 5 radiotherapy treatments and I can walk now! This Chestnut View Care Home is absolutely brilliant in all ways and my two daughters help is very valuable as well. I'd give this care home 1000% out 100%

This home in the beginning of my aunts care which was four years ago was good, due to several changes of management it was poor. The new manager has picked the place back up to it's initial good standard. The staff have been excellent and some should be commended very caringly indeed.

My mother was first in the normal unit, then when it became clear she was showing signs of dementia, she moved into the more secure dementia unit. She spent almost 2 years in the unit and died in her own room surrounded by kind and caring staff she thought of as family. My daughter and myself were made
to feel as if it was our home too.
We miss them all now mum has gone. Her room was always clean and the plants watered. Mum's clothes were washed and kept clean. She always enjoyed her food and was fed by a carer as her sight was very poor. I can't thank the lovely staff enough.

Arrived by ambulance from hospital, the bed was not ready, had to wait with ambulance while a new mattress was obtained. Deposited in bed okay. Dressings on my heel fracture are roughly every 2 days and I wear a splint boot, so I am very comfortable after 4 weeks here.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.131)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.131) out of 10 for Chestnut View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.548 for Chestnut View is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 115 Ratings = 4.548
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.583 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chestnut View is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 10 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.833
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
