We went through many things with managers and were promised that all would be accommodated easily. Unfortunately, the carers either didn't get the message, didn't understand or didn't care.
Left in bed often until late morning or dressed earlier and put back to bed.
Food was inedible.
Staff told
my dad that we had complained. Lost clothes, still not returned.
Very disappointed.

Mum started off on the nursing floor two weeks before lockdown. I wasn't impressed. The nurses were lovely but lack of socialisation and person-centred care. After a couple of months, Mum moved down to Pastimes dementia unit. She has flourished and is on the whole very happy, walking a lot and joining
in with activities etc. Staff are lovely and Mum has struck up a rapport with them. Haven't seen Mum's room and can't answer some questions.
Reply from Aileen Nimmo, Sales & Marketing at Chestnut View Care HomeThank you for the feedback. We are committed to getting the best possible outcomes for the residents that live at Chestnut view and it is great to read that with a small change to your Mum's room location within the home she has flourished.

Since the lockdown and easing, I have been able, on an appointment basis, to visit my husband in a "secluded" room, two-meter distancing, wearing a mask. An attendant from home available during the visit. I find this has been extremely well organised and was and am impressed by how well the home coped
with this pandemic. First-class

I cannot comment on the care home other than the visitor's lounge. I started to visit again in June once restrictions were eased post COVID-19. The team have all been very welcoming and friendly. The protocols for visiting are very clear and well organised. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and beautifully
furnished.

Chestnut View is a lovely care home, with very attentive staff who create a safe, happy environment for all. I have never seen my grandmother look so happy - and that, for me, is all that matters.
Warm-hearted, upbeat staff, great sense of humour who create such a home-like environment - it feels
like they are their own little happy family.

Due to the restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, I have only limited direct experience of the care provided for my mother at Chestnut View. Despite these restrictions, I have been reassured by the attitudes and responsiveness of the staff at the home. Everybody has been kind and helpful.
Please note that the ratings are affected by the coronavirus restrictions.

Thanks to all management and staff at Chestnut View for all you are doing, including these difficult times of lockdown.
Perhaps an update on the manager's note to Family & Friends of Chestnut View dated 24th May 2020 might be opportune.
Please encourage staff to make sure that my cousin's hearing
aids are both fitted and working during the day - it makes such a difference.
Not sure how well my cousin is eating - she loves fruit so do offer to her.
Hope you are soon in a position to use the ground floor refurbished rooms (1 for my cousin).
Thanks for all the care and cuppas for my cousin - well done!

During this pandemic, everyone has been on their toes and given a service to my mother beyond all expectations. Keeping her and all the patient's health and safety their number one cause. I cannot fault anything the home has done for my mother. Also, I have been informed on my mother's welfare frequently.

I have found Chestnut View Care Home to be a clean, caring and friendly environment. My nana has only been a resident for a few months and I can honestly say this is the happiest I have seen her in a long time. I am grateful to the team for taking such good care of my nana and always being so cheerful
and helpful. I would highly recommend Chestnut View Care Home.

We are very happy we chose this home for our mother who has been there a few years now. She is cared for by excellent, caring and very professional staff always happy to go the extra mile for her and for us. There generally seems to be some kind of stimulating activity going on and we feel very welcome
when we visit (pre Corona Virus obviously). Our mother seems very contented and settled and we always get an immediate response when we ring and enquire after her. Many thanks to everyone there especially during this challenging time.

I actually completed a review of Chestnut View Care Home in February this year when the Coronavirus was known about, but the subsequent impact that was to follow on our lives and those of our loved ones was still to be fully realised. With what has occurred over the last six weeks, I felt it was important
to take this opportunity to re-emphasise my thanks and gratitude to everyone at Chestnut View for their tireless work ethic; which has never been in question along with the continued love and care that is provided to so many loved ones within the home.

Whilst caring for our loved ones, it has been rightly recognised by the government and the nation that you are prepared to put your own health to one side to continue to do the job you all love and are so proud to go to work for every day.

My mother has been at Chestnut View for over eight years now, and in that time, the love and care provided by all members of the care home team to her has been exemplary. Thank you all.

A "modern" purpose-built home that is light and spacious. The environment is well cared for and clean, some areas recently refurbished. All the staff are welcoming, friendly and very approachable. They take good care of our mum. There are much better consistency and a greater sense of stability since
the change of management last year. There is a range of activities each week and relatives are often invited to join in with special events as well.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.387)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.387) out of 10 for Chestnut View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.587 for Chestnut View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (89 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 138 Ratings = 4.587
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chestnut View Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
