Our mum spent the last four and a half years in the care of the wonderful staff at Cranmer Court Care Home, we could not have expected any more from the manager and staff for the outstanding care they gave to our mum. When she finally passed away in October, we could see how much Mum was loved by the
staff there. During her time there, she was extremely well looked after, not only from a care or nursing aspect but had good food, entertainment and wonderful celebration days. The staff were always vigilant and if there were any changes with regard to Mum's health or well-being, a doctor was available and the team would act quickly. Mum was always clean, fresh and tidy. The home coped very well with the lockdown crisis, ensuring that Mum could have a connection with her family over a video call, although this was difficult for a dementia patient for understanding, they took the time and that's what mattered to our family. As a family, we would like to thank you all for the dedication and love you gave to our mum!
Reply from Home Manager at Cranmer CourtThank you Anita for your very kind words and recognition of the team at Cranmer Court. The care and services we deliver as a team to our residents and families is extremely important to us and we loved having your mum as part of our family. We are really sorry for your loss. Your comments will be passed on to the team.

The staff at Cranmer Court, Warlingham cared for my mother for around 2 years. During that time she was well looked after and was provided with excellent food, plenty of activities, birthday parties and celebration days. The nursing staff were extremely vigilant and Mum was able to see a doctor on a
weekly basis if required. The nursing and care teams were quick to spot any changes in Mum's condition, act promptly with medication, and kept us informed of any changes in medication that mum required. The activity team worked tirelessly to entertain the residents and bring a smile to their faces. All the above were expertly and professionally overseen by the managers, whose commitment to their residents was clear to see. The team adapted professionally to the COVID situation and kept relatives updated on the situation and visiting rules. Zoom calls were introduced, which helped relatives stay in touch with their loved ones. I cannot thank everyone at Cranmer Court for their dedication.
Reply from Home Manager, Home Manager at Cranmer CourtThank you for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review Hilary. It was a pleasure to be able to care for your Mum during her time at Cranmer Court. I will pass on your kind comments to the whole team.

Selecting a care home for a parent is a really difficult decision, I recently had to select a facility to manage my father's end-of-life care. Like most families, we struggled to firstly make the decision to move to nursing care and then with the dilemma of which facility to select.
I can honestly
say that by selecting Cranmer Court Care Home our fears and doubts never surfaced again after we made this decision to help us manage a very emotional time in our family.
The manager runs an extremely efficient operation and from the moment we selected Cranmer everything was handled with a white-glove service that I would rate five stars, she and her staff handle our needs with respect and exemplary care.
All the staff provided a level of kindness and care for our family during this very difficult time that I truly am thankful for.
Reply from Norah Davey, Home Manager at Cranmer CourtThank you for your lovely comments, Andrew. The care and services we deliver as a team to our residents and families is extremely important to us and we are so pleased that you felt the care we provided your father made a difficult situation more bearable. Your feedback will be shared with the whole team.

I have experienced the highest quality of care in this nursing home during my week of respite care here. This has come from all levels of staff who have made sure all my needs have been met. The menu is varied and nutritious and adapted to my need as necessary. Assisted walks in the grounds have been
much appreciated. Cranmer Court Care Home lives up to its high reputation in this area. I would recommend to others without hesitation.

My mother came to Cranmer Court in December of 2019, some 4 months after the death of my father. She hadn't faced the outside world for 5 years prior to that due to extreme anxiety. She had no interest in herself or anything else and wouldn't even venture into her own garden.
Since arriving at Cranmer
my mother has undergone a transformation beyond my wildest hopes. Due to the kind, patient care of the manager and her team Mum has literally been brought back from the brink. Now she thoroughly enjoys the company of the other residents and staff, loves the environment, speaks very highly of the food and spends every second out in the garden if the sun is out. She telephones her grandchildren and the rest of the family regularly and takes an interest in world affairs and is just the Mum I knew but lost for a while.
She herself wishes she had gone there sooner and my whole family cannot speak too highly of Cranmer Court and will forever be indebted to them.

I came to Cranmer Court following an operation on my leg. The care I have received is excellent. The staff are caring, kind and nothing is too much trouble. The atmosphere is so friendly and I was made to feel so at home. Day and night the care assistants, nurses and all other staff are always on call.
I would recommend Cranmer Court to friends and family.

My husband was a resident of Cranmer Court for nearly a month's end-of-life care and needed a lot of nursing. The carers and nurses treated him at all times with the greatest care and respect, and the good humour and tenderness they showed him was very moving. It was as if he were one of their own family.
They also made me feel welcome whenever I went in to see him and were punctilious in keeping me informed of his condition and his medication.
When I told them that he liked to watch our garden birds, they promptly set a bird feeder outside his window, and they went out of their way to provide him with a bed suitable for his six-foot frame and a chair that he was less likely to topple out of. Great care was taken over his special diet and a therapist was called in to advise when his swallowing became impaired.
This is a purpose-built home with spacious communal areas and well-furnished individual rooms for residents. I thoroughly recommend it.

Cranmer Court cared for my brother during the last week of his life in March. He was receiving palliative care and was very poorly.
He was well looked after during these final days with the staff making him as comfortable as possible. They also helped him with final video calls to the family.

I highly recommend Cranmer Court. My mother arrived there for palliative care in June 2020. As a family, we immediately liked the home environment, nice single room and bathroom. During summer the residents could go outside in pleasant gardens. Due to my mother's condition, she had a garden room which
we could access from outside. My mother stayed for 8 months. The standard of care is high. I met many Carers, Nurses and managers during my visits. I found a high level of responsiveness to both my mother's and family's wishes. I always felt welcome by the ever-friendly receptionists and staff. Communications were really good, with regular email updates, and we as a family could call any time and would speak with nurses or managers, and during lockdown to my mother every day. Food, level of hygiene, cleanliness are all excellent. Other services are good, my mother saw a dentist, had her hair and nails done. When Mum was poorly and died, she and her family were treated with dignity and care. Thank you.

My mother-in-law has been in the home for just over a year after numerous falls at home, living with us. She settled in quite quickly despite the onslaught of Covid19. At 102 years of age, she is not exactly an active resident but feels safe and secure in the home and generally gets on well with all
the staff. They are kind and caring and we hope when the weather improves and lockdown eases, we will be able to see her again on a regular basis. The food is excellent and if anything, a little too much of it! The main thing is that she is happy!

My mother was a resident at Cranmer for two years before she passed away this year. My mother was so happy there. She loved the staff as they were also her friends. The staff are absolutely fantastic, so kind and caring and treated my mum with dignity always. I was always kept well informed of doctor’s
visits and any medication treatments. She loved the activities provided. I was very grateful to the care my mum had for the last two years, you couldn’t get better.

My mother moved to Cranmer Court in July 2019. We are very happy with the level of care she receives, the staffing levels within the home and the involvement of the staff with the residents. My mother hates being by herself so knowing there are always plenty of staff was very important. They offer
friendly and professional care and we are kept well informed with regular medical and well being updates.
During the covid-19 outbreak, the strong leadership provided by the manager and policies put in place by Caring Homes has effectively managed the risks and resisted pressure to accept new residents without a negative covid-19 swab. All the staff have worked tirelessly, adhering rigorously to good hygiene practices during this difficult time.
During the outbreak, I am able to speak to my mother on a mobile which the staff take to her. Cranmer are trialling a new communication system which enables staff to send safely and securely videos and photos of my mother.

The matron and staff are all excellent in the various roles. My cousin has been there since January of this year. I can say with confidence that the care, attention, support and food that she receives is all of a very high standard. Visiting was always a pleasure, although due to current restrictions
I am unable to visit at the moment, made pleasurable both by visiting family members and meeting staff. I would and do recommend Cranmer Court to any friends or family looking for a care or nursing home for them or others and will of course continue doing so.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.741)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.741) out of 10 for Cranmer Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.741 for Cranmer Court is calculated as follows: ( (212 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 274 Ratings = 4.741
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cranmer Court is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
