My father became a resident of Deepdene care home in January 2016, he settled in very quickly and is very happy and contented there. The staff are kind and professional, treating him with dignity and compassion. A close watch is kept on his health and he enjoys the entertainment and interaction with
the staff and management. That dad is well cared for is a huge relief to our whole family.

We were so pleased when Deepdene Care Centre confirmed that a place would be available for Mum in December 2015. We visited many other homes in the area and found Deepdene to be by far the nicest. The environment is clean and fresh with a cheerful atmosphere among the staff and residents.
In addition
to managing Mum’s complex medical needs the staff take great pride in helping residents to retain their self-esteem and dignity. We found Mum’s carers helped her to maintain a very high standard of personal hygiene and routinely helped Mum with her hair, nails and makeup; joining Deepdene after a prolonged stay in hospital the transformation gave both Mum and the family a huge psychological boost. Deepdene Care Centre is next door to the GP Surgery and communication with both the surgery and relatives is excellent.
Staff at the Deepdene Care Centre are caring, polite and professional and we are so grateful to them for the love and care that they’ve provided for Mum.

My Mum has only been at Deepdene for a few months and I cannot praise the staff enough for all their help and care. Mum was in hospital prior to moving there and was very unsettled, but the staff have been very patient and she has now settled in. Mum has quite a few health issues as well as dementia
and at Deepdene they have adapted their care to meet Mums needs. We are kept updated of any problems or issues, or change in medication etc and I have even been informed when Mum has had a 'really good day' and had joined in their activities. It helps us as a family to know she is being looked after 24/7

My mother has been in Deepdene Care Centre for three weeks after coming out of hospital. She has found the care provided by to be exemplary. The staff are friendly and caring, and the food is very good. She is now going home as her health issues are improving and would thoroughly recommend Deepdene
Care Centre for respite care/post hospital care. Nothing was too much trouble or more cheerful and efficient.

My family and I visited 16 Care Homes in the near locality, and although Deepdene wasn't our first choice, we are so pleased that my wife was accepted there. She has now been there for 18 months and we remain pleased. I visit nearly every day and am always greeted pleasantly, warmly and courteously
by staff, with whom I like to think I have a good rapport.
My wife is well cared for, always looks presentable and appreciates good food at all her meals. The staff are all caring and loving towards her, and nothing is too much trouble. Any concerns can be raised at regular Relatives Meetings, which are then addressed by the Manager. Some take longer than others to resolve or report on - generally by outside agencies!
Weekly outings give the residents a break from the daily routine if they able fit and able so to do. Otherwise, in-house activities are programmed during most of the week, which residents are encouraged (not forced) to attend. Recommended implicitly.

Moving my father from a care home in Worthing to Deepdene Dorking was quite daunting especially for my 94 year old father. However, with all the lovely care from management through all the staff. The result has been pleasing and I thank everyone involved at Deepdene. I hope all the positive notes continue
for my fathers comfort. Thank you all.

The home has improved immensely since the current Manager has been in place. All concerns are taken on board and action is taken to resolve matters very quickly.
Residents I observed seem to be treated with respect and dignity and are now encouraged to participate in activities, this was not obviously
the case in previous years.
Some memorabilia has been put around the top floor where my brother is, this is appropriate to the age range of the residents and a useful talking point for visitors to engage their relative with. Some things are still a bit odd, for example my brothers clothing seem sometimes not to be his - jigsaw puzzles of large pieces that I have brought in now seem to be missing from his room. But I see staff dealing with residents in a kind manner. The local Dr makes weekly visits and surgery is only next door, which is very helpful and reassuring .

My sister-in-law had been in Deepdene Care Centre for 3 weeks; although her health has deteriorated during that time, both she and her visitors have received the utmost care and courtesy and we have been very pleased with her treatment. The room is clean and the food is very good and wholesome.
The staff are always welcoming with a smile and we have been made to feel that she is in a very comfortable and caring environment. The family cannot speak too highly of the Centre.

My wife has been a Resident at Deepdene Care Centre since February 2013. I have never had reason to complain about her care during this time. However, albeit that I had not found reason to complain it was evident a year ago that the care staff had become complacent. This was rectified about one year
ago with the introduction of a new management team. Since then the standard of everyday care and, in particular, nursing care has dramatically improved. Staff ensure that Residents are given the opportunity to be fully engaged in activities if they so wish. The standard of professional entertainment has improved, both in quantity and quality with weekly coach outings if desired. Each floor has it's own designated Nurse and my wife is more closely monitored than was the case prior to the new managerial regime taking responsibility 12 months ago. A happy atmosphere is the norm and my wife enjoys the choice of meals on offer.

I, as a church visitor call into the home every week and find the staff helpful and caring. The residents are always 'busy' looking well groomed, happy and freely relaxed. I have in fact suggested the nursing home in the past to a family for their mother (now deceased) and they were very pleased to
have her there. I am advising someone who needs to go into a nursing home, to try this one.

There is a lovely atmosphere in the home. There are new staff who along with current staff are very caring, supportive and have an understanding of the needs of the residents. We feel confident that if we have any concerns about the health or well being of our relatives, we can bring them to the attention
of the staff knowing that they will be quickly addressed.

Deepdene helped us when we were at our lowest point and other care homes wouldn't take Dad. Since he went there in January we have seen a marked improvement in his behaviour as the staff know how to treat him. He is always clean and well cared for. The food is lovely, all cooked on site and home is
very clean. Most importantly the staff are caring and professional. We can visit when and as often as we like and have never had any serious concerns. I would highly recommend Deepdene

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.913) out of 10 for Deepdene Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.913 for Deepdene Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (347 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 379 Ratings = 4.913
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Deepdene Care Centre is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

When not at work, Richard enjoys watching films, listening to music and exploring new places within the UK and further afield.
