Our family want to THANK each and every member of staff we had contact with.
Our Dad did not want to be a resident anywhere except home. Circumstances would not allow that to happen.
I live over a 100 miles away, so regular phone calls were important. I was kept up to date with Dad's health.
Without
this, my husband and I would not have been able to spend the last four days with Dad, Mum and siblings.
The care Dad and we were given from Day one has helped us to cope. Mum would not leave Dad for four days. She was able to do this due to the constant care, food, drink and explanations are given.
Dad passed with Mum, my husband and I with him.
We appreciate all that was done. You ALL are amazing. Thank you.
Reply from Anjaleena Kuriakoar, Deputy Manager at Deepdene Care CentreThank you so much, Sarah, for the kind words it means a lot to us. I have passed the message to the team as they deserve to be appreciated for the care they give. We are glad we could be of assistance and were able to make you and your family feel comfortable and satisfied to the best of our ability.Thank you again.

Really happy with the home. Staff are great. My mum has settled in very quickly despite being quite ill in the months leading up to her admission into Deepdene. Staff have made a real effort to ensure she is eating well.

The care given to my husband for his end of life care was excellent. I have since had the opportunity of getting another member of his family to gain residence at this care home for his dementia. They are also giving him excellent care. All of the staff work really hard.

My mum was only at the Deepdene Nursing home for a short while before she passed, but even in her final days, she appeared more at peace with her surroundings than she ever did in hospital. Words cannot express our gratitude to each and every member of the Deepdene caring staff.

I have no hesitation in complimenting every single member of staff that I've met, for their professionalism, friendliness, caring, understanding and welcoming nature. In the short time that my father has resided at Deepdene, I can think of dozens of incidents where the staff have found time to go the
extra mile and offer reassurance at times of his deepest anxiety. To all of the staff who have been involved with my father please continue doing what you are doing and for being who you are.

I feel that bed confined patients should have their continence checked more regularly. I had, on many visits, to call staff to change my husband who was sitting in a soiled "nappy".
Reply from Usha Prasanna, Manager at Deepdene Care CentreDear Eveline,

I am really sorry that you had this situation. I have instructed your concerns to the nurse and carers. Staff will now ensure to check up on him on a regular basis so that such incident will be prevented.

My mum was admitted to Deepdene Care Centre with advanced dementia and extremely challenging behaviour. She was agitated and barely slept. The staff and management have shown such kindness and understanding and with their gentle approach and knowledgeable care she has calmed down considerably and seems
much happier; albeit in her own little world. It is a very difficult environment to work in but the staff are always cheerful and nothing seems too much trouble. My mum's state of mind and behaviour was a continued worry for me but now I can relax, safe in the knowledge that she is being well cared for so Deepdene Care Centre has made a great difference to both our lives.

My husband has been at Deepdene for nearly three months. He has been in 2 other nursing homes. I found the staff are attentive and kind at Deepdene. The home is very clean and maintained to a high standard. The residents are treated with consideration and dignity. The medical attention is good. Qualified
staff are available 24/7 and the doctor attends the home regularly and is easy to approach and speak to. The staff phone you if there are any problems. The manager runs a tight ship. This is without a doubt an excellent nursing home.

We visited my brother in the morning. We were greeted warmly in reception where a nurse took us to him in the lounge where there were three other patients. He remained asleep for most of our visit. We were offered tea and biscuits on arrival. At lunchtime, the nurse brought his tray to us, woke him
and I was able to help him eat with some enjoyment. During our stay, some residents were able to communicate well and they spoke highly of the home. The manager also spoke to us and we left in the knowledge that he was in a safe, warm and caring environment.

On entering Deepdene Care Home, Dorking, I am always greeted pleasantly by the staff. The surroundings inside are tidy and I usually find a helper to give me information regarding my husband's well-being. He is on the third floor. My husband's room is clean. He appears to be looked after well. My family
and I are happy with his treatment etc. which with the condition of dementia, is no easy task for the nursing staff.

I went into Deepdene Care Centre for 8 days respite whilst my family went on holiday. The staff are very polite and helpful, they have a good sense of humour. The home is well presented, clean, tidy and the food was good. For me, it was home from home and I got all the care I needed to make my stay
safe and pleasant one. Am looking forward to my next week's respite there.

My mum has been at this home since Jan 2015. After some initial teething problems we couldn't be more pleased. She has settled in as well as can be expected for someone with dementia. My father and I looked at 10+ homes personally and we preferred this hotel style rather than converted house style.
The rooms are homely with personal possessions wide corridors for wheel chairs, single floor hoists etc in bathrooms. Staff pleasant and courteous. Good food (chef put on a birthday meal for mother's wider family which was first class). All clean and airy. Slight problem with clothes missing between laundry return and with some TV programmes put on for staff rather than residents (News, CSI etc rather than say racing or songs of praise) but a small issue. Daily entertainments/events including some outings. My father still visits mum everyday and says if necessary he'd happily be a resident when the time comes.

My husband was challenging and I found it difficult to find a nursing home that would accept him. Because of the expertise of the staff who care for him at Deepdene, he is now very content off the sedation that was prescribed whilst he was in hospital. The carers are very patient and spend a lot of
time making sure they are given plenty of fluids and helped with feeding when necessary. My husband is always clean and in clean clothes.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.913)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.913) out of 10 for Deepdene Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.913 for Deepdene Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (347 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 379 Ratings = 4.913
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Deepdene Care Centre is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
