The Grange Care Home is a warm, friendly, professional setting. My mum has been there for over 2 years now and I feel very comfortable that she is happy and very well looked after. The home is clean, well maintained and I am updated regularly when a situation occurs. I wouldn't hesitate recommending
the Grange Care Home to anyone.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother was transferred the The Grange from an out of area nursing home in 2024 and it was the best move she could have made. Within 48 hours the staff had taken her out to a coffee morning and had her spending at least part of the day in the lounge. The Grange is an older building without all the
mod cons of some purpose built homes, but it's well maintained and clean. The staff are friendly, caring and professional, they always greet me by name with an update on how my mother is doing that day and what she's been up to. There is always at least one staff member in the lounge, usually 2 or 3 and they are attentive to the needs of the residents, chatting with them and encouraging social interaction (which isn't my experience with some other homes). When in her room they respect her privacy by knocking before entering and check in regularly and I'm kept informed of any issues that arise.

My mother has been receiving excellent care at The Grange since she moved in almost two years ago. We chose The Grange as other family members and friends had also been residents and were very pleased with the care they received. The staff turnover is very low meaning the lovely caring staff know
the residents well and are able to spot any health concerns early which are quickly referred to the GP. Communication is great, we are always kept involved and up to date with mum's care. Mum really enjoys the daily activities, these are varied including arts and crafts, cooking, trips out to the local church coffee shop, Wisley Gardens trip, quizzes, gardening etc. The annual Summer Garden Party and Christmas Party for residents and family are a real high point, a lovely chance to meet with all other families and share special time with our loved ones. My Dad was so worried about placing my mum in residential care but has been reassured from day one that she is in the absolute best hands.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.483)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.483) out of 10 for The Grange Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.983 for The Grange Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (57 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.983
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Grange Nursing Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 5 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
