Thank you very much Tom for your kind words of support and encouragement for the staff team. I am glad to hear that you feel assured of your mother's care and safety at Wykeham House. I will pass your message to our team.
It was a real pleasure for me and my team to share a simple tradition such as a Sunday Roast with all the residents and their families. Something that all our residents would have at one time enjoyed at home with their families and loved ones. Thank you for joining us and supporting our activities programme.

Hi, my name is Julia and I am the General Manager here at Wykeham House. Welcome to our website!
I started working part-time as a carer in a local care home when I was 16 whilst finishing my studies. At 18, I left home to start my nursing career and, after qualifying as a registered nurse, I went on to midwifery. After having 2 children, I found working in the NHS difficult to manage and had an opportunity to go back to working in care homes. I got my first management position in 1998 and have never looked back. It is so rewarding to do a job that I enjoy and that I am passionate about.
I joined Wykeham House in October 2022 but I have worked doing activities in care homes since I left College, I began volunteering in a local home when I was 15 years old and then took on my first job in a care home when I was 18. I have enjoyed extending my knowledge to improve my work and have a Level 2 in Dementia Awareness, Domestic Abuse Awareness and Mental Health Awareness. I have also attended courses on End-Of-Life Activities as well as Dementia focused Activities. I love what I do and for me, it is important that every day is a new day for our residents with new opportunities and a smiling face to come with it.
My name is Richard, but people call me Ricardo, Taffy or the Welshman!
I really feel like a member of the Barchester family, l hope to be here for many more years to come, as this is one of the most satisfying jobs l have ever had. I love it and love being able to make a difference in the resident's lives.
I joined Wykeham House as a kitchen porter in 2003 and was promoted to Head of Housekeeping in 2005. I always find time to talk to the residents and always have fun with everyone. I am good at making them smile.
Haidee joined the Wykeham team back in 2013. She started as a nurse and showed dedication and comitment. She was promoted to unit manager in 2019. She is a hardworking member of the team
I joined the team in 2019. I have been a nurse for many years. One of the best aspects of my role is seeing our residents smiling faces every day knowing that we are making a difference to their life and enriching it day by day
Hi, my name is Shubha, I have been working at Wykeham since 2016. I started my role as a carer and have since been promoted to trainee care practitioner. I am really enjoying my new role and the responsibilities it brings.
Hello, i/m Cindy. I have worked at Wykeham house as a carer. I really do enjoy my job. Being with the residents and making sure they are happy give me a really good feeling.
I began my career in traditional Chinese medicine, assisting in my father’s Clinic in North China, before going on to University to train as a nurse and also qualify as a beautician. The wider world beckoned and I relocated to the UK in 2005 where I began a career as a senior carer with Barchester. Realizing my greater potential, I advanced to nursing roles in haematology oncology and chemotherapy in the NHS. Then I decided to broaden my ability and career further by rejoining Barchester in a deputy manager role. Here the appeal is the wide-ranging responsibilities and focuses on developing skills and relationships to provide the highest standard of care for our residents.
Outside work I love to travel, paint and draw, cook, music, craft and garden. I love long coastal walks with my family and Spoodle dog.
I started working at Wykeham House in October 2023. I have worked as a chef for many years and have worked in hotels and restaurants. I decided I wanted something a bit slower in pace and am keen to give the residents a wonderful dining experience everyday.
I qualified as a nurse in 2007 in the Philippines and in the UK in 2011. As clinical lead I ensure that any medical conditions are appropriately monitored and assist with training the staff to manage these conditions. I have worked for Barchester for over 10 years and have been at Wykeham House since 2020. My favorite thing about my job is interacting with the residents and caring for them.
Our housekeeping team are an essential part of maintaining and looking after the home. The housekeeping team run the in-house laundry service for our residents and ensures the facilities around the home are well-kept and clean. Each day the team cleans residents' rooms and communal areas across the home. The housekeeping team are another set of smiling faces our residents see throughout the day and residents are encouraged to maintain activities of daily living by helping the team complete their tasks.
I joined Wykeham House Care Home as a Senior Carer in December 2022, with an NCFC CACHE Level-3 qualification in care. This foundation in care has been instrumental in my growth and development as a carer. I enrolled as a Trainee Care Practitioner with Barchester Healthcare and embarked on a path of continuous learning. In June 2024, I proudly completed my Care Practitioner course, further enhancing my skills and knowledge. I am dedicated to delivering exceptional care and support to our residents and I am very proud to be part of a team that prioritises the well-being and dignity of those in our care.
