I have been a resident at Knowle Park for the last seven months. The level of care during my stay has been very good, although as a Parkinson patient aged 73, I have found the care regime to be tiresome at times. However, the enthusiasm and kindness of the carers has made up for my slowness in coming
to terms with a total loss of independence.

Mum lives with us and attends Knowle Park for occasional weeks of respite care throughout the year. We have found the staff to be kind and helpful. Mum always returns home in good spirits and physically well cared for. She talks warmly about the staff and her rooms (particularly this August) have been
generally cosy and homely. Sometimes TV and telephones haven't worked in Mum's room but this has usually been fixed reasonably quickly for her.

Knowle Park staff are exceptional, they fully supported my elderly relatives into care and without their understanding of how anxious they were about the move, it would not have been successful. Both relatives stated from the first day how happy they were and didn't have anything to worry about.
They
are now very settled and look so much better. We are thrilled at the level of care they receive and nothing is too much bother for any of the staff. I can thoroughly recommend Knowle Park as a caring and person centred care home.

The care home has been brilliant. They have treated us like family through tough times and have ensured we have had support.

They have been patient with my mum and have treated her with the best care.

The care home does not normally care for cancer patients nor patients as young as my mum but

they have done an excellent job with her physical and mental wellbeing.

Mum has been a resident here for four years and my father previously for 2 years. The standard of care has been consistently high and always exceeded other care homes we have had direct experience of in the same area.

All the staff here have always gone the extra mile with my mum, dad and with our

whole family.

This has been my first experience of a nursing home - other than time spent in hospitals.

The staff members are all helpful and ready with a steady hand on the staircase etc where they can see a problem.

Mum was very happy and settled well during her first week.
She thought all the staff were friendly and she enjoyed the activities that were organised.
She said, "I'm so lucky to have found a lovely place like this...everyone is so friendly."
After her fall, the carers and medical staff were professional
and attentive. They kept us informed of any changes in mum's condition.
All the staff were compassionate and we felt cared for as well.
In the days following mum's death, all the staff we met gave their condolences.

I have the experience of being a relative of a resident who has been in Knowle Park for just over seven years.
I would not place my mother in any other home that I have had any experience of.
The staff here are superb and do everything to make my mother comfortable. The room she has has an excellent
view of the huge lawn and tree line. The rooms are always well heated with the odd occasion where opening windows can be necessary. The building is a large mansion house and not a modern hotel style block.
The food served always looks really good and my mother always enjoyed it. Her present state requires mashed up food but she still eats it all. She and her family used to enjoy the summer lunches out on the lawn. The entertainment provided has always been good although this is one occupation that has a very high turnover which is disappointing for the residents when they get to like the individual(s).
Overall I would recommend Knowle Park to anyone who has need of a good nursing home.

I have was very impressed with every aspect of Knowle Park. Ma moved in on the 1st August 2017 and was welcomed by all. She settled in very well and grew to love all of the staff. It was a delight to see her face light up when a member of the staff entered her room. The care she received was excellent
and we cannot thank Knowle Park enough for looking after her so well.

We wish you all a very happy Christmas and many thanks again.

My father in law had to move suddenly to Knowle Park. All the staff were extremely welcoming. He was anxious about the move but the office staff, nursing staff, carers and dining assistants took great care and time to reassure him. They quickly learnt his requirements and he was very much encouraged
to socialise with other residents and participate in activities. The carers and nursing staff were very kind and treated him with great respect. He was much happier there than at the previous home.

Both my parents have been residents at Knowle Park. My mother has been there from November 2014 until now and my father from December 2014 until August 2016, when he passed away. I have been delighted with all aspects of their care both nursing and social. All the staff are wonderful - professional
and caring and the atmosphere in the home is lovely. The care shown to my dad and all our family at the end of his life was fantastic. I would recommend Knowle Park to anyone looking for a care home.

My husband and I are very pleased with how well my mother has settled int Knowle Park. Above all, it has a nice homely atmosphere and the staff are very welcoming. They treat my mum with dignity and we have peace of mind knowing that she is well looked after. The nurses are quick to notice any health
issues and deal with them promptly and professionally. In fact, all the staff really care about the residents, taking the time to listen and talk to them as individuals as well as helping with their physical needs. There are activities and outings to keep the residents stimulated, which are of great benefit to my mum as she gets bored easily! The staff go the extra mile with their facilities to celebrate Halloween, Christmas and many other diverse events, laying special food, entertainment and decorating the home creatively to make it a special occasion for residents and relatives alike.
The home itself is clean, open and airy and set in beautiful grounds. It is a pleasure to visit and my mum is very happy there, which I think says it all.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.773)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.773) out of 10 for Knowle Park is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.848 for Knowle Park is calculated as follows: ( (172 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 198 Ratings = 4.848
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Knowle Park is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 46 registered maximum number of service users is 9.2, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
