My mother has been a resident at Priory Court for well over 4 years and I have been very happy with the care she has received. The staff are invariably loving and caring for her, even when she is being a little difficult to please (which occurs rarely)! My sister and I visit regularly and have always
been impressed by the warm atmosphere of care and good humour. We have always been able to talk about our occasional mild concerns (our mother always likes to wear a scarf around her neck). This is relayed to the carers who particularly look after her. We have felt blessed about our choice of home.

I felt the most important points in care homes are the staff, in this care home the carers are excellent, not all, but the vast majority.
Food was always presented well on the plate and looked and tasted well. Cleanliness and tidiness was sometimes lacking, however, this did not default from the good
staff.

I was very disappointed with Priory Court Care Home.
I went about a year ago with my husband and was pleased.
This time I took him out after 4 days.
I went in twice and found him in a very unhygienic state.
I had to go to his room and wash and change him.
The carers that I met were helpful and
pleasant but too busy.
They were very short staffed. 2 carers in the dementia ward of 15!
Food was good but the activities were non-existent.
I only found one of the admin staff had an attitude problem.
I have tried hard to get back one pair of good quality trousers and have phoned every day.
In the end, I shall have to give up.
They have probably gone awol like the toothbrush which was still unused in the packet after 4 days.
When I pointed it out it was then used and lost.
I ended up wondering where is the value for money in this establishment?

Priory Court has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. All the various staff including management, nursing/care, physio, reception, activities, cleaning, catering and maintenance, are cheerful and friendly. My mother was looked after with care and kindness during her 12 week respite stay. The managers were
always approachable and helpful both before and during her stay.
If respite care were needed at another time I would be very happy for my mother to stay there again.

Overall care is excellent. Mum is well looked after on the nursing dementia unit. She seems happy although dementia is "challenging". She gets the occasional trip out which is good, eats well and is always clean and presentable in matching clothes. Overall good job by all staff on the unit.

There is a lack of feedback about the general state of the resident and an ignorance on my part as to the people/staff I should be talking about the health of the resident.

My aunt is treated with great respect (at times she can be somewhat difficult). She is always clean (clothes changed if she spills some food). She is always encouraged to take a drink. We are made very welcome when we visit and kept informed of any medication suggested by doctor/staff nurse.
The care
assistants are all delightful and I am very comfortable with regards to her overall care and so pleased that I was able to get her into Priory Court.

This care home is listed as one of the best around this area. However, there is more could be done and altered in certain areas. The gardens are well maintained and trim the trees etc. Food, on the whole, is good but could be more variety. Fire drill is done here but should be done more often.

Since my husband has been resident in the nursing section, I have been very happy with the care he has received. The staff are all friendly, helpful and caring. The residents are stimulated by having quizzes/films/games morning and afternoon. There is a choice of menus each day and visitors can also
have a meal if they wish. My family had a great Christmas dinner with my husband.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.815)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.815) out of 10 for Priory Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.815 for Priory Court is calculated as follows: ( (345 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 401 Ratings = 4.815
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Priory Court is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 89 registered maximum number of service users is 17.8, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
