The care and support staff are excellent - friendly and caring. However, there should be more contact with managers and other staff (kitchen). My mother is perfectly capable of giving an opinion and should be given the opportunity to do so. Liaising with managers and kitchen staff should be encouraged.
My mother has said that the food is poor, virtually no fresh fruit or vegetables. The boiler has broken down many times, depriving the residents of hot water - a basic requirement.
Reply from Aileen Nimmo, Sales & Marketing at Priory CourtThank you for taking the time to review Priory Court. We are delighted to read you are happy with the care and support. All comments made will be shared with the team to ensure your Mother feels her opinion is listened too. All our homes receive fresh fruit and vegetables to ensure our residents can enjoy nutritious meals. In addition to the daily menu options, alternative choices are available so we will make sure your Mother is aware of these. We apologies for any disruption caused due to the boiler breakage and are happy to report that we have invested well over £20K during the summertime on essential works to resolve issues with the system. Unfortunately, this type of work always takes some time to complete due to their scale and the need to get all parts in advance.

We are so grateful to Priory Court for allowing my sister to move into their nursing care unit. Sadly, she passed away after a few weeks but was given loving care as well as nursing care and dignity in her last days, which was so important. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone
searching for a lovely home for their loved ones. Thank you so much Priory Court.

Everything was good until lockdown. Now it is very strange and it is worrying about what will happen in the winter.

I went to visit my mother during the COVID 19 lockdown in the garden of the care home, the staff were very careful with Mum making sure she was happy to go into the garden to meet with me, she looked very well and happy and was also very talkative which was a wonderful surprise. I have kept in touch
with home during the lockdown who in turn have been very informative and reassuring.

Everything seems very good, staff care, in particular, it appears first-rate and mum as far as we can tell given her condition seems happy. She certainly is clearly fond of her carers. Due to access restrictions cannot comment on several of the below boxes.

My 95-year-old mother was unfortunately termed as 'end of life' after spending 2 weeks at the hospital. She was in a great deal of pain so was fitted with a syringe driver for her pain relief. The hospital could do no more for her, they transferred her to Priory Court to take over her care. After a
few days, I was able to visit. I was able to be with my mum during her last days. The atmosphere at Priory Court was so relaxing and very calm, my mum looked really comfortable and peaceful, she had a lovely room, I was allowed to stay as long as I wanted, I was able to hold her hand and talk to her, even though I don't know if she knew I was there. She was there for exactly 1 week before she passed, on my birthday. I had only left her side half an hour before I received the call to say she had died. We went back to see her, staff had brushed her hair, and made her look comfortable, although it was a hard time, I am glad she spent her last hours in such a lovely place.
Reply from Aileen Nimmo, Sales & Marketing at Priory CourtPlease accept our condolences. We recognise the importance of caring for both your Mother and her family, especially during her last days. As difficult a time as this was, we thank you for acknowledging the staff's dedication in providing a calm, caring, atmosphere, whereas a family, you were able to spend such an important time together. Thank you.

My dad has been a resident since October 2019, and I have found his care from the home - excellent. Everybody is very friendly and smiley to residents and visitors. I think that it is nice that special celebrations such as Christmas and Pancake Day have special events arranged. Also, I have found that
the staff have been very good at assessing when my dad is unwell and needs medical attention. Good to know that he is being taken care of around the clock.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.815)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.815) out of 10 for Priory Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.815 for Priory Court is calculated as follows: ( (345 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 401 Ratings = 4.815
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Priory Court is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 89 registered maximum number of service users is 17.8, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
