Whenever I visit my sister I always get a good morning and have a little chat with the receptionist. The carers always have a chat if they have time and the housekeepers are nice too and the security staff.

My mum was in hospital for 6 weeks and then to Sutton Lodge Care Home. Although I didn't want this to happen, I now know it was best for mum. Sutton Lodge is absolutely wonderful, the staff are amazing with mum, as with everyone else and have a lot of time for her. Mum is very happy here and we, as
a family can visit whenever we want. Mum was on her own a lot at home, as we were all at work, but there every evening, now she has 24 hour care and is so much happier.
Reply from Maria Ricketts, Customer Care Adviser at Sutton Lodge Care HomeThank you for your lovely review. We are glad to help you and your family through such a difficult time. It is lovely to hear Mum is very happy with us and now is receiving the 24-hour care she needs. We hope to continue providing your loved one with the best possible care.

I'd like to thank all the staff at Sutton Lodge for the care that was given to my brother during the last few weeks before his passing. He was treated with dignity and respect by everyone he came into contact with whilst there, everyone couldn't do enough for him and due to his circumstances was happy
and content to be in their care. When we visited Sutton Lodge we found the staff friendly and helpful towards each of us and very supportive of us at this difficult time.

This was the first time my wife had gone in for respite care, so we were both naturally a little nervous but the entire team were simply fantastic, fully supportive and appreciative of the situation before them. Nothing was too much trouble, the level of care and attention was exemplary.
Everyone we
met was both professional and welcoming, it was also clear to see that there was a happy team atmosphere, born out of the longevity service at Sutton Lodge.
We have no hesitation in recommending and my wife will be returning.

My mother spent the last 14 months of her life at Sutton Lodge and she could not have had a better last year. I cannot praise enough the staff and the emotional and medical support provided. She went in for end-of-life care and had no interest in life but with gentle encouragement from the staff she
gradually began to participate in activities. This enhanced her quality of life until a few weeks before her death. Her care was exemplary. The staff kind and thoughtful. Relatives also receive support, emotionally and with participation in relative meetings.

Satisfactory overall, but lacking in activities on some days especially late afternoons. Too hot on sunny days in the conservatory area.
Meal requirements not always catered for as due to my husbands condition he can reverse what he wants. This seems to apply
mainly to supper. Minor points sometimes
overlooked like cleaning his electric tooth brush or razor. Bad posture in his wheelchair needs correcting as tends to slip forward and become very uncomfortable. More opportunities for conversation would help his mind stay active and advert boredom and depression.

Mum moved here for respite care initially when she had chronic back pain. She was so well cared for and made an excellent recovery. At the end of the respite period she chose to stay. She is happily ensconced in the community of Sutton Lodge and enjoys an independent life but is fed, bathed and cared
for with respect and care.

My father, at 102 years old, has been a resident at Sutton Lodge since September 2022. He was discharged from the hospital into their care with several ongoing medical problems, which continue to be addressed with improvement. The home is well-known to me by several previous residents. The staff, with
their caring, encouraging and friendly attitude, have provided a safe environment for him. I would highly recommend this facility for those looking to place a loved one.

Sutton Lodge nursing home has been a godsend. My dad has been here for the last couple of months. I love the staff and caregivers. They have been really taking good care of my father, who has Alzheimer's; he can't walk, and he can't talk. But the love of everyone has made him feel better. They have
a beautiful garden, and I usually take my dad outside into their lovely garden for lunch. I come in twice a day, most days, and they have an open visit, which has made it so easy for me to visit my dad. The nurses are superb. I really think we have found a great place for my dad, and I'm grateful to them all.

Mum was at Sutton Lodge from September 2021 to May 2022. We only moved her because her dementia meant she needed more specialist care, but the staff at Sutton Lodge were fantastic. I know there were times when she was difficult, but I also know that the staff did everything they could to calm and settle
her. The regular photos on Facebook showed Mum clearly happy and joining in. The manager and her team really helped me navigate the system with social services, and nothing was too much trouble. They are experts at what they do.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.649)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.649) out of 10 for Sutton Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 32 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.649 for Sutton Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (259 Excellents x 5) + (104 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 376 Ratings = 4.649
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sutton Lodge Care Home is based on 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

My name is Andrea, and I’m the home manager here at Sutton Lodge. My journey in care began back in 1997, when I started working as a carer in a nursing home that supported both younger adults with complex needs and older residents. From my very first shift, I knew this was where I was meant to be — caring for people, making a difference, and helping others live with dignity and joy.

That passion led me to train as a nurse, and in 2008 I qualified as a registered nurse. I spent several years working across surgical wards and other hospital departments, gaining valuable experience that I’ve carried with me throughout my career.

In 2010 I got married, and I’m now a proud mum to twin daughters and a son — they keep me grounded and remind me every day why care and kindness matter so much. Over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of care homes, supporting residents, families, and staff with dedication and compassion.

I first joined Sutton Lodge as deputy manager and spent three and a half years here before moving on to other management roles within care homes. Four years later, I was delighted to return — this time as home manager. It truly feels like coming home.

Sutton Lodge is such a special place — a small home with a big heart. The warmth, laughter, and sense of family here are what make it so unique. I’m incredibly proud to lead a team that shares my values of compassion, respect, and dedication, and to be part of a home where residents are not just cared for, but truly cherished.

I started my career with Bupa 10 years ago as a Care Assistant, progressing to Senior Carer, Registered Nurse and now Clinical Deputy Manager for the last 2.5 years.

In late 2014 I was studying for a Psychology Degree when I swapped my weekend job at Specsavers for a part-time Care Assistant job at Queensmount Bupa in Bournemouth.

I loved my care job and worked with some amazing people who made me consider an even bigger career change. When I came back home to Surrey after university I transferred to Sutton Lodge and then began a Master’s Degree in Adult Nursing before taking on a Nursing position here. Sutton Lodge feels like my home from home, and I am so proud of my job and the relationships we build with the residents we care for.

I love my role as Deputy Manager and helping the team to feel empowered and grow. The staff here are so kind and caring, and we support each other through the good times as well as the hard times. My favourite days are still my nursing days when I get to spend quality time with our wonderful residents.

I have a lovely rescue dog who is a huge part of my life and we love spending days walking down the Wey Navigation and spending time with my friend's horses. I also recently got married (which was the gossip of Sutton Lodge for many months!)

Job Title: Senior Care Assistant Joined: 2022

I am Georgina and I have been working at Sutton Lodge for three and a half years. I started off as a care assistant, before getting promoted to senior care assistant.

For many years, I worked as a private nanny for children. Following that, I worked for M&S.

I finally got a job in a care home and that’s where I found my passion for caring for the elderly.

Sutton lodge is a small home, I love working here. It feels like a small family.

Outside of work, I have a large family, and in my spare time, I spend all my time with them.

Job Title: Senior Activities Co-ordinator Joined: 2018

I started my career at Sutton lodge in June 2018 as a care assistant. In November 2021, I changed roles and became an activities co-ordinator.

Over the course of that time, I completed many training courses, including Level 2 in adult care work, Level 2 in English, Level 1 in maths and Level 3 in first aid.

Two years ago, I stepped up and become a senior activities co-ordinator.

I am proud of my work and everything I bring to our home, staff and residents. I am extremely passionate and try my best to plan activities and events around all individuals' needs so everyone can feel involved.

My role has significantly boosted my self-confidence, but more importantly, it has strengthened my skills and abilities in care—especially in leading activities, which are central to my position. I genuinely love my job, and any feedback I receive motivates me to improve and make meaningful changes. I believe there’s always room to learn, grow, and achieve more, especially with the variety of goals, qualifications, and training opportunities available through Bupa and Sutton Lodge.
