My mum was treated with the utmost care and attention. She loved all the staff and they loved her. Her bedsores were immediately dealt with from hospital stay. All staff, management, orderlies and nurses were fantastic. I could not speak more highly of this home. I would score it 10 out of 5. Thank
you for your care and attention to my dear mum.

Copper Beech is very welcoming and homely, with high standards of cleanliness. While the staff are caring and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The staff appear to have a good rapport with the residents and also take an interest in the residents as individuals. The residents are also well catered
for, with activities and entertainment which is open to the residents' visitors to share as well. I feel that my brother-in-law, who suffers from dementia and other issues, is being well looked after and cared for.

My husband had Alzheimer's so he went into Copper Beech from hospital where he was treated for pneumonia. Initially for three weeks respite care. However, after a few days we realised I could not care for him as well as the dedicated staff at Copper Beech. He became a permanent resident in January 2023.
When family and friends visited we all felt his care was excellent. The whole atmosphere of the home was caring and supportive of him and me. He was always very contented, enjoyed the food, but could not remember activities! He sadly passed away in his sleep at the age of 93 on the 15th of October 2023. We were very grateful for the excellent care he received from all the staff - he did not lose his sense of humour and he told me he was living with his family, which I think is a great compliment to everyone.
Reply from Grace Langfield, Customer Service Adviser at Copper Beech Care HomeThank you for your kind words. It is always nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one was so well cared for and looked after with us, and our staff were always so welcoming and supportive of yourselves as the family and friends too. We are saddened to hear of your loss but hope you are able to look back on this experience knowing your husband received the best possible care. We will certainly pass on your comments to the manager.

The care at Copper Beech for my mother has been excellent from the moment she arrived by ambulance to the moment she passed away. The staff were amazing throughout my mother’s ten week stay with them helping her with her feeding, with health problems related to her stay in a previous care home and ultimately
with her end-of-life care.
The trouble Cooper Beech took in reviewing my mother’s needs before admission was far better than any other dementia nursing home in the region that I approached. They treated her as an individual even at the later stages of her life and nothing was too much trouble.
With our other parents, we have a lot of experience of dementia and nursing homes and the team at Copper Beech are the best I have come across, not just in their personalised care but also for keeping me informed on a regular basis.
I felt as though I could go back to being my mother’s daughter again rather than a carer from the moment she arrived at Copper Beech - thank you.

My mother spent the last three months of her life at Copper Beech, following a hospital stay. Prior to that, she had been in a different care home where she hadn’t been given the level of care she needed. Copper Beech saved the day and took mum in when she was very poorly and gave her a calm and loving
few months. She had severe dementia and pressure sores on arrival, obviously, the dementia couldn’t improve but mum seemed calmer with the lovely care she was given and her pressure sores healed up quickly. She wasn’t given calming drugs until near the end. The nurse kept us up to date with mum’s care, always popping in to have a word when we visited, which was most days.
The staff were all wonderful and cared for her with respect and dignity right up to her passing away. They were always very welcoming to family and friends who visited. I highly recommend Copper Beech, thank you for giving calm and kind care at the end of my mother’s life. We will forever be grateful.

The care home has a very welcoming feel. The staff are very friendly and always willing to chat. The residents' welfare and needs seem to come first and thoughtful and enjoyable entertainment is provided by enthusiastic entertainment staff. The food looks delicious and appetising. Although an OAP, I
am not in need of a care home yet, but I hope that if I do have to place myself in one it is a good as Copper Beech.

My late mother passed away peacefully at Copper Beech in December 2022 after being a full-time resident there since 2019. We had a very smooth transition into the home as we had used Copper Beech for respite care when my mother lived with my sister and we knew it was the right place for her to go once
her dementia became difficult and risky to deal with in the home environment.
Mum enjoyed the really good food and afternoon tea and cake and got involved with the activities the home organised with other guests and the lovely staff.
We could go in and see her anytime, and pre-Covid it was a wonderful set-up for her.
During Covid of course it was very restrictive, but the home did everything they could and my sister had some access during that very difficult time.
Post Covid my mother's dementia was steadily worsening and this made life more difficult for the staff looking after her, however, they did their utmost to ensure Mum was happy and comfortable before sadly she left us.

My friend moved into Copper Beech Care Home in May last year and was made very welcome by all of the staff. She was not very mobile but whenever I visited she was always comfortable and the staff did their utmost to get her out of her room and join in the activities. They weren't always successful
but whenever they were she enjoyed herself immensely. The patio area is very pleasant and I was able to bring my labrador to the home when it was warm enough to sit outside, which my friend loved. Thank you to everyone for making her time there as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

Staff are, on the whole, very good but bank staff often do not speak English well - very difficult for elderly people. Activities need to take everyone's disabilities into account. Cleaners need more time to be thorough - chair seats are dirty etc. Understaffed so details are being missed - residents
with dirty nails, always in a hurry not able to spend time with the residents who really need to talk. Not overly impressed with the doctor. The bedrooms are too small, the bathroom is poky - a toilet that has not flushed properly since the day my father arrived and still doesn't! Replacement lift saga!
Reply from Alison Horridge, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at Copper Beech Care HomeThank you for taking the time to write a detailed review. We do encourage feedback and I am sorry Copper Beech has not met your expectations recently. We are taking steps to address the issues you raise, for example in the last six months recruitment of permanent care staff has increased and reliance on agency staff has halved, and we have also recruited new team members to our housekeeping team. Copper Beech has a varied activity programme and does its very best to cater for the wide range of our residents' abilities and interests.
We would also be happy to speak directly about your concerns with the local GP surgery and to look at the options available for an alternative room. To discuss further please contact the home manager or our Feedback Team by emailing feedback@bupa.com or calling 0113 381 6293. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your loved one's stay as comfortable as possible.

I find the staff of Copper Beech Care Home to be amazing. They really do care for the residents. The activities are brilliant and very varied, including a visit from a shetland pony. I do think their rooms are too small considering how much time they spend indoors.

We would certainly recommend Copper Beech Care Home for many reasons! My mother has been there for around two and a half years through the pandemic.
She needs 24/7 care and support as she has severe dementia and her needs have been completely catered for.
She is treated with dignity and receives exemplary
care. We feel very lucky to have found Copper Beech.
She is safe and secure in her environment and although my mother can't use the activities, they are there for others.
We are delighted with the amazing, dedicated staff who go way and beyond.

If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2022

I have been working for Bupa since February 2022. I started as a peripatetic manager and I am currently working as the registered home manager at Copper Beech.

I have been working in the care sector for the last 20 years. I was always passionate about caring for people especially elderly vulnerable adults who really need support. As a result, I started to work in the care sector. I worked as a team leader, deputy manager, home manager and regional support manager for various organisations.

I have managed nursing homes, dementia residential homes and learning disability homes during my career and also worked as a regional support manager overseeing three nursing homes before I joined Bupa.

I really enjoy making a difference in and improving our residents' quality of life.

Outside of work, I am married with children. My hobbies include music and travelling. I like to play the guitar in my own time, travel to new places and spend time with my family.
