The staff very caring. The management is very good, Lauriston is kept very clean and tidy, entertainment has been very difficult since COVID19 but will improve when outside entertainers are allowed in my mother is well looked after and was everything she needs.

Reply from Valerie Russell, Home Manager at Lauriston

Thank you for your kind positive feedback. We will be holding an open day next month and look forward to having you there and we hope to return to having outside entertainment very soon.

My mum has been in Lauriston care home in St Leonards for quite a few years now, and has always been very well looked after. The staff are brilliant and very caring, l could not wish my mother to be looked after by more dedicated people, and would certainly recommend the Lauriston care home St Leonards without a doubt.

Our mum moved into Lauriston recently.
The staff are so caring and really do everything that they can to help our mum feel settled. They love to listen to stories of Mum's life.
Their communication with families is excellent, they’ve done everything possible to aid the swift settling in process. I really cannot praise them enough.
The food is lovely and the home is really homely.

Thank you once again for all that you do.

I can’t fault the care my mother has received since she moved into Lauriston. My mother has Alzheimer’s and she is always treated with care and respect by the amazing and hard-working staff. There is lots of interaction from all the staff and daily activities. She is happy, clean and well-fed. She particularly looks forward to the daily afternoon tea and freshly baked cakes.

Reply from Valerie Russell, Home Manager at Lauriston

Thank you for your positive feedback, it is so nice to hear and I am sure the staff will very much appreciate it. We endeavour to provide person-centred care for all our residents and staff always go above and beyond the care they provide. I will ensure all staff are aware of your feedback. Thank you once again.

My sister-in-law has been well looked after but recently, when I phoned to ask how she was, I was told she had tested positive for Covid but I had not been informed. Until now, I have had phone calls to tell me when and what has happened, so I was quite annoyed that I had not been contacted. I appreciate with the situation, staff are terribly busy but this is not an excuse - I should have been informed even though at this time and for the last year because of my age (77) I have also had to stay home in Yorkshire and been unable to visit.

Reply from Valerie Russell, Home Manager at Lauriston

Thank you for your review. I am pleased that you feel your sister-in-law has been well looked after. I am sorry that you were not informed, on this occasion, but thank you for appreciating how busy everyone has been during this pandemic. I know we have now been able to respond to you in writing but please be assured that keeping you informed will be our priority.

My husband was admitted to this care home on the back of many local recommendations from friends including some who work within the health and care community. Due to covid-19, the family could not view the inside of the home. However, the staff have all been extremely supportive and have explained how they are managing the situation and answering any of our questions and keeping us informed about my husbands care at all times.

I can't praise them enough and my husband seems happy and settled at this difficult time.

Because of the current situation, I cannot complete some of the following questions fairly as I can only comment on what my husband says and the overall impression I get from the staff I have met and spoken to!

Reply from Valerie Russell, Home Manager at Lauriston

Thank you for your kind and positive words; I am very happy to hear that staff keep you updated as well as receiving updated information about changes that have occurred over the time since your husband joined us and managing Covid. We endeavour to ensure that all families and residents are kept up to date with everything during these difficult times.

Overall, a very good nursing/care home. My Mother is happy there and is well looked after. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Although she doesn't take part, there are plenty of activities for those who want too. My only slight negative is that it does appear fairly costly perhaps when compared to other some homes.
