Staff are professional and also kind. When issues arise they deal with them without being defensive. They are well-trained and supportive of the resident's wider family, informing us about their condition and helping us to make decisions in our mother's best interests.

My wife has a problem with food and only takes soup, sometimes at that. She has supplements.

This link between the nurses and GP is good. My wife is now bedridden.

The immediate ambience was light and airy with a warm reception. The notice board was clear with pictorial information. The staff helpfully brought chairs for us to sit with the resident and offered us teas.
The lounge where she was sitting was not overcrowded with chairs - space for residents to wander. The television was not overpowering - very homely. A peep at the dining room - very inviting - like a restaurant.
Our sister (closest relative of resident) very impressed by her time with the nurse/ responsible for the resident.

Very welcoming.

Pleasant environment, on the whole, staff are friendly and welcoming. The activities are good, but maybe could be more low-key type activities on the 2nd floor for the more severely mentally ill residents. Possibly more residents could make use of the garden area in the summer months.

My mum has now been in Sovereign Lodge Care Centre for approximately three months. I am so very happy with the way she is looked after. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful with any problems which may occur. She loves her room which is kept beautifully clean and the home never smells, which some homes do.

The entertainment there and the food is excellent there is always something for the residents to do.

The caring staff are very good dealing with dementia patients. The exception is dealing with Alzheimer's which requires variations from the norm. Theses demands are very challenging and do require even more specialised training.

My brother in law had 21 previous beds previous to Sovereign Lodge and you should be very proud of your excellent home and lovely care you provide. Your activities lady is a treasure and all staff offer me a grateful cup of tea. All staff are alert and caring whatever time of the day.
Nurses are special and nothing is too much trouble to the management.

My brother in law seems very relaxed.

My mother came to Sovereign Lodge Care Centre in February after breaking her hip and staying in the hospital for six weeks. Sovereign Lodge Care Centre is a lovely place, mum loved her room and the staff are excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. She was only there for two weeks but I would not hesitate in sending her back if needed for respite. The food and entertainment were all first class.

Coming here last year, I have experienced most aspects of caring given and a variety of elderly people I have met here and this being helpful and reassuring to those concerned for the most part.

An important issue is the respect shown to each individual in the caring: here this has been good, even under trying circumstances.

Margaret CoscolluelaJob Title:Home Manager

Our day-to-day can be challenging, but it requires commitment, motivation, and skills to make a vision into reality. I am passionate about delivering person-centred care to our residents and maintaining their independence as much as possible. It is a big adjustment for a resident to leave their own house and be in a nursing home, thus, we as a team help them feel welcomed and ensure a homely environment.

The best part of my working day is knowing that I have made a difference in someone's life and have helped them through a difficult situation. Knowing that a resident is satisfied with the care we provide is the greatest achievement for me at the end of the day."

I wished to be part of this growing company and be able to contribute my knowledge and skills, at the same time learning and growing with the company.

Before I came to Healthcare Homes I was an
administrator/receptionist for a different provider.

I think a person needs to be knowledgeable or must be willing to learn. You must be people orientated, know how to deal with different kinds of people in a friendly but professional manner. Must be well organised and know how to manage time. Stay calm.

The favourite part of my working day is being able to help out with the team. Completing tasks and being ready to accept more. Meeting new people.

The biggest professional challenge in my current role was moving from a corporate company where I had been for 5 years to a smaller but growing company. Luckily enough, after a few weeks of intensive training, I was able to adapt and settle quickly into my new home. Thanks to the most friendly and accommodating staff/residents and relatives of Sovereign Lodge and those at our operations office Apex.

My biggest career highlight to date? I am quite happy to see the progression of my career over the span of six years.

Qualities that make me stand out are;

A good home manager must have good leadership and at the same time be caring and have a passionate heart. Time management is also very important.

My interests outside of work are spending time with my little boy, playing in the sand or swimming together. I also like watching movies and shopping.

I look forward to working with my colleagues who are a bunch of happy and energetic people. Meeting and greeting residents and relatives. Being productive at work – being able to accomplish all tasks given

Sovereign Lodge has a very good name in the local community and I wished to have a more fulfilling job role
Before joining Healthcare Homes I was a landlady at a local public house. I had always worked in the service industry.
To be good in my role I need to be bubbly, outgoing, motivated and confident. Being able to work as part of a team or take a lead role if necessary. Energetic, enthusiastic and loving the job of making people happy.
The favourite part of my working day is putting a smile on people’s faces and making a difference. Giving residents something to look forward to.
My biggest professional challenge in my current role is being diverse in the role and giving a wide variety in the activity schedule; keeping it fresh and exciting. I am undertaking a Health Care Practitioner trainee role which I am very excited about and looking forward to the outcome.
Although there have been many highlights during my time here, none more important than walking in to the lounge areas and seeing smiling, happy residents
The qualities I have to make me stand out are good leadership qualities, being able to communicate freely with staff. Good problem solving skills

Outside of work I like spending time with my family, dining out, walking and enjoying the fresh air with loved ones, watching movies and shopping

The relationships I have formed with my colleagues and residents; it’s not just a job to me. I can honestly say in my time working here, this is my family as well as my friends

I enjoy working with the staff and being part of a supportive team. I take pride in meeting residents’ expectations and resolving any problems quickly to keep the home running smoothly.
