Only a short walk from the seafront and a few minutes from the beautiful South Downs, this Art Deco style Home has been restored to its former splendour to include a purpose built extension and conservatory.

The elegant gardens are attractively landscaped and have lots of seating areas and pagodas to shelter from the sun. There is a large lounge, which is comfortably decorated for residents’ use, with lovely views of the garden.

Respite care may be offered and is usually 10% above the permanent care fees, subject to availability and will depend on an assessment of a person’s care needs.

The day centre manager at Barford Court who is now supervising visiting is just such a helpful, kind man who interacts so very well with my 99-year-old Mother whose dementia is steadily worsening. However, this lovely man encourages her with crosswords and card games which she still has the ability
to do. On a less positive note, I am not happy with the carer who has brought my mother to the visiting area leaving her in a wheelchair and not transferring her to the armchair. This is uncaring and lazy.

When my Mum first arrived straight from the hospital she was quite unhappy to have to leave her flat. It took a while for her to settle in but the wonderful staff soon made her feel at home and 2 years later she is extremely happy. They have many activities each day to keep them occupied but also let
them enjoy their own room if they want to watch TV. Mum enjoys regular coffees and good food. She looks much healthier now that she eats regularly. All the staff are so friendly and caring. They keep us informed of any changes during this difficult time and although it will be lovely to get back to normal visiting at least we can see our relatives in a safe room. A big thank you to all at Barford Court.

My grandmother has been a resident for nearly 6 years at Barford Court. The staff look to balance her independence and her needs in looking after her. This is done in a friendly, thoughtful and caring way. There are activities available for when she wants them. The home is clean and the layout allows
both the ability to meet up with other residents or be independent and quiet. As she has got older they have gently moved her from a walking stick to a frame and it was handled in a thoughtful way that she was happy with.

My father moved into Barford Court at the age of 101 in June 2019. The staff helped him make that difficult transition from fully caring for himself to enjoying having his food prepared, laundry and cleaning done. We have been very impressed during the “lockdown” by the variety and frequency of entertainment/activities
offered by the staff e.g. quizzes, keep fit, bowls, baking, craft ideas, etc. Before the “lockdown” external entertainers offered an even greater variety complemented by coach trips to a garden centre or areas of interest always including a coffee stop. We particularly appreciate him being able to retain his independence including the storage and use of his personal mobility scooter.
As a daughter living at distance in Leicestershire, we have found the staff have gone that extra mile to keep us in contact with Dad via Skype, making sure ours and his every need's are met to the highest standard.
Dad is extremely happy and enjoys having a laugh with the staff.

My mother is 83 and suffers from Alzheimer’s/Vascular Dementia. She became completely immobile and disinterested in life prior to moving to Barford Court Xmas 2019. Her smile has reappeared and with the guidance of physio she has been able to walk a few steps. All seems very tranquil in her unit.
It’s a pleasure to visit. The staff are very accommodating and create a homely atmosphere within a safe environment. Everywhere is extremely clean and the food looks great! I can tell she is happy simply that she smiles again. Barford Court is far removed from any other home I have seen. I am sure that through these challenging times will prove second to none.

Mum enjoyed her respite care at Barford Court so much that she wanted to become a permanent resident. The staff are very professional and above all kind and caring. The food is good and there is a variety of entertainment so that all the residents can find activities to participate in. Residents are

My husband has Alzheimer's and did not settle in the first home he resided in. He moved to Barford Court in February and the change in his behaviour has been remarkable. He is an artist and Barford Court encourage him to pursue his interest and that has made him much happier. He also appreciates the
amount of space there is at the Home and the lovely gardens. I am now content that I can trust the Home to give him the best care possible. The food is very good and the outings have been good for him. I would like to thank all the staff for making my husband happier than he has been for a long time and looking after him so well I no longer need to worry about him every day.

My father is 92 years old and always told me he never wanted to go into a Care Home. However, last December it became obvious that he could no longer live on his own and he agreed that Barford Court was the best place for him to spend his last years. He has never regretted it and always tells me how
happy he is there. The relief to me is immeasurable to know he is happy and content. The staff are amazing - so kind and caring. A certain member of staff greets my father every morning with a kiss on his cheek and I cannot tell you how it makes his day. Barford Court staff make old people feel special and respected. Such a difference from everyday life where only youth seems to matter. The staff constantly keep me updated about my father and the management only ever have my father’s best interests at heart. “We just want him to be happy” is their motto. Every member of staff there is so special. Thank you so much Barford Court.

I highly recommend this care home. The staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. They are always there when we need them. The food and beverages they provide are my partner's favourites. The rooms and corridors are always clean and tidy. I enjoy spending time with my partner there doing activities
with the staff.

Care is not up to the standard of previous care home that closed. If anything, there may be too many carers such that they think someone else is doing it. For instance, they forgot to give dad breakfast last week. It also means that although there is a link/key carer, one of which I have never met,
I am never quite sure who to approach.
Those carers who manage dad daily are very good.
The activity programme is far better than the previous home, although, events can be cancelled at short notice. For instance, dad is all ready to go out and it is cancelled.

As far as our staff are aware, the resident concerned does come to breakfast in the dining room. We are not sure how our staff forgot on one occasion, but our Home Management team can certainly investigate further, please contact them at your convenience. Unfortunately, there have been a few occasions of staff sickness at short notice when trips had to be cancelled.

Lovely location and communal facilities and grounds. Rooms not big but have a pleasant outlook and are nicely appointed. Staff are caring, friendly and in general, very professional in their work. Some variation in the activities might be welcomed. Maybe ones that encourage more interaction with residents.

Many thanks for your kind comments about Barford Court’s rooms and the facilities. Currently, we are working on new activities with a newly appointed Activities Coordinator and where possible, we encourage our carers to help with arts and crafts, armchair exercises, and dancercise interaction. We have musical entertainers who visit our Home regularly and they encourage resident interaction through musical therapy sessions.
