Since being a resident my mother has received a high standard of care without any loss of dignity. Her needs, including medications, have been met in a very professional and well-managed manner by the staff, who cheerfully look after her. The staff have worked hard to maintain a safe Covid free environment to safeguard the residents, which provides tremendous reassurance to all relatives in these difficult times. The home is managed to an outstanding standard in cleanliness, safety, food and provision of a good balance in attention to residents, whilst at the same time giving suitable freedom of individual choice. There is a very good range of activities on offer to the residents, I believe this area could be further enhanced by an increase in minibus trips (within current Covid management restrictions).

Thank you for your kind comments which I will pass on to the whole team. We are continually looking at ways to engage with our residents through social engagement and creative activities. Unfortunately, the minibus trips have been impacted by the current Covid restrictions as our drivers are...

In Spring 2021, following various incidents and cognitive decline, my Mother was becoming increasingly vulnerable and could no longer be kept safe in her own home. After much soul searching, hours of research, including reviewing CQC reports, and speaking with home managers, I found Barford Court.
The move to Barford Court has not only given my Mother an improved quality of life, but she is now in professional hands and happier than I have seen her since the death of my Father in 2005.
The impact on me is immense too. She is encouraged to remain independent, eats well, is cared for, treated as an individual with dignity, respect, and kindness by all staff, not just the carers. To turn up to visit and see her looking well, laughing with other residents, and participating in activities she would not previously have considered brings a smile to my face.
Suggestions made are welcomed too.

Thank you to all at Barford Court for making a positive difference to both our lives.

A caring and welcoming environment for my close friend who is visually impaired, following two Strokes. He and other residents are treated with respect and dignity and he is able to move freely within, and when he desires, outside the complex.

I feel he is much safer and comfortable within Barford Court than he would be trying to make do in his own home. A difficult choice, but the right choice.

Everyone, I have met that works here have been kind and helpful. Mum's only moaned about the food but apparently, there has been some improvement. Poor communication sometimes has been an issue.

Our mum moved from another care home to Barford Court two weeks ago. It has been a very positive experience for her and our family. Mum has been treated with compassion, dignity and kindness, this has helped her to settle in.

Our thanks to the staff for the professionalism and care that they have shown to her.

My mother has suffered with many losses in the last 2 years, the loss of her cognitive and emotional wellness and having to move out of her home and into Barford Court. I cannot emphasize more how thoughtful, attentive and hardworking the team at Barford Court are in taking care of mum and helping her adjust to her new life. They are focused on the resident and getting to know their likes and dislikes and providing meaningful activities that are fun and rewarding for mum to do. Covid has complicated everything and they have worked hard to provide visitation of family that is safe for the residents, families and staff. Even with the extra work and stress that Covid has presented the home with, the staff and management are always cheery when I call to speak to my mum.

In addition to management, two ladies deserve a special mention in coordinating a CarePlan for mum and in taking the time to communicate that to me regularly. Thank you to everyone at Barford Court.

It is such a comfort to know mum is being cared for so well. The staff are lovely and always go the extra mile to make sure the residents are happy and healthy. The home is a safe, clean and welcoming environment and the food is fabulous. I know mum is very happy and she feels lucky to be at Barford Court.

I have had a series of poor service issues both during the Covid-19 lockdown and highlighted now. I have finally got access to my mother in the Barford Court home. I have tried to raise and resolve these serious issues directly but after three weeks they have not been properly responded to or effectively addressed. There is insufficient room to raise all issues here.
Issues:
1. Mum's hearing aid batteries are not being timely replaced. But, also it is apparent they are not assisting her to remove the hearing aid at night and are not opening the battery slot meaning batteries run down in days not weeks, and she has now developed extremely sore ears. My visits have been spoiled as she can't hear, and she is feeling isolated, depressed, and uncared for as she can't communicate.
2. Mum is given other people's old clothes some badly stained, many of her own new clothes are missing.

3. Her personal effects were not properly unpacked and carefully stored, new items brought in have been damaged.

When my Mum first arrived straight from the hospital she was quite unhappy to have to leave her flat. It took a while for her to settle in but the wonderful staff soon made her feel at home and 2 years later she is extremely happy. They have many activities each day to keep them occupied but also let them enjoy their own room if they want to watch TV. Mum enjoys regular coffees and good food. She looks much healthier now that she eats regularly. All the staff are so friendly and caring. They keep us informed of any changes during this difficult time and although it will be lovely to get back to normal visiting at least we can see our relatives in a safe room. A big thank you to all at Barford Court.

The day centre manager at Barford Court who is now supervising visiting is just such a helpful, kind man who interacts so very well with my 99-year-old Mother whose dementia is steadily worsening. However, this lovely man encourages her with crosswords and card games which she still has the ability to do. On a less positive note, I am not happy with the carer who has brought my mother to the visiting area leaving her in a wheelchair and not transferring her to the armchair. This is uncaring and lazy.

My grandmother has been a resident for nearly 6 years at Barford Court. The staff look to balance her independence and her needs in looking after her. This is done in a friendly, thoughtful and caring way. There are activities available for when she wants them. The home is clean and the layout allows both the ability to meet up with other residents or be independent and quiet. As she has got older they have gently moved her from a walking stick to a frame and it was handled in a thoughtful way that she was happy with.

My father moved into Barford Court at the age of 101 in June 2019. The staff helped him make that difficult transition from fully caring for himself to enjoying having his food prepared, laundry and cleaning done. We have been very impressed during the “lockdown” by the variety and frequency of entertainment/activities offered by the staff e.g. quizzes, keep fit, bowls, baking, craft ideas, etc. Before the “lockdown” external entertainers offered an even greater variety complemented by coach trips to a garden centre or areas of interest always including a coffee stop. We particularly appreciate him being able to retain his independence including the storage and use of his personal mobility scooter.
As a daughter living at distance in Leicestershire, we have found the staff have gone that extra mile to keep us in contact with Dad via Skype, making sure ours and his every need's are met to the highest standard.

Dad is extremely happy and enjoys having a laugh with the staff.

My mother is 83 and suffers from Alzheimer’s/Vascular Dementia. She became completely immobile and disinterested in life prior to moving to Barford Court Xmas 2019. Her smile has reappeared and with the guidance of physio she has been able to walk a few steps. All seems very tranquil in her unit. It’s a pleasure to visit. The staff are very accommodating and create a homely atmosphere within a safe environment. Everywhere is extremely clean and the food looks great! I can tell she is happy simply that she smiles again. Barford Court is far removed from any other home I have seen. I am sure that through these challenging times will prove second to none.

My husband is here for just a short stay while we finalise his move to a care home in London to be near the family.

The staff and carers at Barford Court have been wonderful – professional, kind and caring. Residents are treated as individuals and with respect. The general atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. I feel confident my husband is being well looked after.

My mother moved to Barford Court a year ago, after a difficult few weeks in hospital. From day one we knew we had made the right decision, instantly my mum was happier, and so were we. The home is very caring and understanding and although there are good days and less good days I feel confident every day that my mum is well cared for.

Mum enjoyed her respite care at Barford Court so much that she wanted to become a permanent resident. The staff are very professional and above all kind and caring. The food is good and there is a variety of entertainment so that all the residents can find activities to participate in. Residents are well looked after and the surroundings are warm, clean and homely.
