Very pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, I could not meet other patients due to covid restrictions. Interesting activities in the lounge and well organised. Very pleasant room but could not see far as on the ground floor with roof outside.

As I was in rehab the physio's were very good.

My father was looked after with great care and kindness. The staff were excellent, always happy to answer any questions about my father's condition and they went out of their way to make sure he was comfortable and safe. As a family, we cannot thank them enough.

My aunt was taken in on a respite package and I was happy with the room and service that was provided for her. She is a vulnerable person at the moment, so I didn't think she would like it, but she seemed to enjoy it, especially her food.

I was very frightened at first, after being in a ward of people and then brought here in a room on my own. Anyway, I am OK now as they are a lot of special people who look after me. I broke my hip but I think I am going along nicely now.

From the moment I left the hospital where I had amazing care to when I came to Victoria Highgrove, I was greeted most cordially. There wasn't any time day or night that I wasn't cared for by the kindest staff, cheery, chatty and thoughtful. The food was very good and well balanced. I would like to thank everyone for the care and attention I received, and I know I shall get better faster for that care. Thank you all.

I stayed for a week whilst convalescing from a sudden and major operation. The staff here are wonderful - very kind and considerate and couldn't be more helpful. The facilities are excellent, and the food is very good. I highly recommend this facility and am very impressed by the level of care and consideration I received.

I was transferred here from the hospital for recovery after an operation. In spite of rebuilding work at the home, I have not been too inconvenienced. I was well received by all the staff, who have been wonderful, warm and friendly. All the staff have displayed great attention to health and safety and I have been very happy with my stay here. I would like to congratulate the catering staff on a well-cooked and variety of meals.

Review from Madeline H (Daughter of Resident) published on 5 February 2020 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mother was a resident at the Victoria Highgrove nursing home for 15 months until she recently passed away. When she first moved in, she was in a poor state of health but because of the excellent nursing care she quickly improved. She was always monitored very carefully and if there was any sign of a problem the doctor would be called straight away. The staff were always professional, compassionate, and empathetic and I felt that they looked after her as they would a member of their own family, as they went the extra mile to ensure she was happy and comfortable. Most importantly my mother was very much treated as an individual and she often said how she felt she was always treated with dignity and respect. When it became obvious that my mother was nearing the end of her life, she made it clear that she didn't want to die in hospital and this request was also accommodated. She was given excellent palliative care and was looked after beautifully right until the end.

Overall Experience

My mother was initially admitted for rehab but for health purposes remained at Highgrove for over a year as a permanent resident. During that time she was given the utmost care, attention and kindness from all the staff - the manager, nurses, carers and even the chef paid special attention to her requirements. She enjoyed the entertainment and social activities that were provided and the interaction with the other residents at lunchtimes, but from our point of view, it was the hard work and dedication on a daily basis that made the difference. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home.

Having spent 5 weeks in hospital I was discharged to the Victoria. A carer opened the door and said "nice shower and hair wash and then lunch" a really good welcome so it went on a shower (with care and assistance) fantastic food choice of menu - three courses I had lost so much weight lying flat on my back at the hospital. The local GP diagnosed me and organised 2 scans. I can honestly say I had more care and interest shown to me than I've had for years.

New medication was prescribed, physio, OT, Conversation from carers. I loved my stay at the Victoria and did not really want to leave when discharged.

Having recently arrived at this establishment, we have found it to be clean and well maintained and of a good standard and all staff are friendly.

The negative side is the home has no bath as not all people like showers. Hot water in rooms was an issue but this has been resolved by new boiler being installed.

When I came here, the first thing I noticed was how friendly everybody was.
The care given to me was first class.
The medication was spot on and just two weeks later I am ready to go home.
I have made a good recovery and thank you to everybody here.

I will miss everybody here, they are so dedicated, I will miss them all.
