My in-laws have been in the home for only a few weeks, but in that few weeks, the staff have been very welcoming, from reception to carers to the nurses. They have always had time to answer any queries we have had and have been supportive of us as family members.

Thank you to you all.

My mother was cared for during the last four weeks of her life and passed away peacefully on 12/02/2022. She was cared for in the Hazelwood nursing unit at Ashton House. Throughout her time there she was treated with the highest level of care from all of the nursing/carers and domiciliary team not forgetting the excellent kind caring reception team. All members of staff were friendly caring and empathetic treating my mum with the utmost dignity and respect at all times. The staff went out of their way in making me and my three daughters feel welcome, they provided a mattress and blankets to my daughter so she could stay in the nights to ensure my mum was not on her own. Making countless pots of tea and snacks for all of us which gave us the time to spend with her in her final days. Due to the excellent team on the Hazelwood unit, my mum had a peaceful death and we have lovely memories of the last days with her and want to thank all the team for everything they do.

The care provided by the team has been amazing for both my Mum and my Dad who were both residents here. We were always made to feel very welcome and could see how much the team members supported and looked after Mum especially who was a resident for over 5 years.

Ashton House team escorted our father to his wife, of nearly 70 years, funeral. It was a very sad day, but the team were extremely sensitive and discrete and looked after dad with love and care. We thank everyone there, from the reception to all the carers and staff who look after us when we visit, and for getting dad to the funeral without any fuss. Well done Ashton House.

The level of care is wonderful! My dad has been here 6 weeks and is looking, feeling and getting better with each visit. The doctors, nurses, careers, and even the guys in reception are very caring and happy to help me, even when I'm sad. Thank you.

I took my father to Ashton House following a 6 week stay in a care home in Surrey after being placed there from hospital by Social Services. Dad suffers from Dementia and Parkinsons and this whole experience has been very confusing for my father and me. However, after hearing how good Ashton House was regarding the care and treatment of their residents suffering with what my father has, I fought tooth and nail to get my father placed here. On arrival, we were met by a lovely smiling receptionist who called through to a staff member to come and help assist my father out of the vehicle into a wheelchair and into the building. All staff involved were extremely kind and considerate towards Dad and myself which made this experience easier to deal with, so much so my father couldn't wait to get to his new room.

Ashton House was my Mum's home for over 6 years. I was so worried about moving her to a nursing home, but I clearly remember visiting her 3 days after she moved in. She was so excited to tell me about all the activities she had been participating in. I mentioned her flat and she said: “what flat, this is my home.” Her view that Ashton House was her home never wavered and that is a result of the truly remarkable, kind and expert care she has received over the years, including her end of life care. Thank you.

Very pleased with the care from nurses on Hazlewood nursing wing who have made our mother comfortable and free from anxiety. Skype has been our help during this phase of the pandemic, but every time we call our mother is relaxed and we've shared a laugh or two and it's clear she's being well looked after with neatly combed hair and constant changes of clothing. Our mother has dementia, as well as a terminal diagnosis but she is settled and expresses no anxiety about her new whereabouts which we believe is a direct testimony to her care at Ashton House.

My mother is cared for to a very high standard. Due to covid, it has been a difficult time not being able to have close contact with my mother. The staff have been so kind and supported my mother through this difficult time. They have become part of her family especially the staff member who ensures my mother has daily activities. My mother loves the sea on her birthday, they took her to the Shoreham so she could see the sea and had a birthday tea with a birthday cake. I feel very confident my mother is looked after with dignity respect and I thank all the staff for their support.

Though we only had a chance to get to know Ashton House and its lovely staff for 4 months, we were deeply touched by the wonderful care and compassion shown to my husband, especially in his last days. We were enormously comforted that he was not alone in his last hours. Deepest thanks to all the staff.

Pleasant surrounding. House is homely, the garden will be lovely. There is a calm, peaceful atmosphere and staff very welcoming from the beginning of the stay. Staff ready to answer any queries or advise if any procedures to be taken. Plenty of activities in which to get involved.

I am only writing a review because I am encouraged to do so on every relative newsletter so here it is. I have been relatively satisfied with Ashton House in the last two years she has been a resident, I have no concerns with the care she receives from the care staff.

But I have found communication to be poor throughout this two year period and since the start of COVID it has been appalling. I understand that homes have been under massive pressure but communication to relatives was non-existent and when I do call up with queries, no one seems to know the history as there seem to have been a number of admin staff taken on all at once who have been dropped in at the deep end. There have been issues which have now led me to make a formal complaint. The managers seem to pass all queries on to the nurses, rather than dealing with them themselves. If it was not an ordeal for my mum I would have moved her to a different home with better leadership.

My dear mother was a resident at Ashton House for three years before passing in April 2020.
For the three years at the home, my mother was wonderfully cared for by each and every member of staff. Initially, we did not want her to go into a home but soon realized that Ashton House was the best place for her. Every effort was made to treat my mum with care, love and respect throughout her stay there. We visited mum most days and as a family, we were all lucky to be shown support from the staff who we soon came to see as our own family.
Unfortunately, we were not able to be with mum when she died. However, we took great comfort knowing she was not alone and surrounded by the same staff who had loved her and cared for her as if she was their own mother. The grief they felt when she died was similar to ours.

We can not recommend the staff at Ashton House. They make the nursing home a wonderful place for people to see out their days in a loving, respectful and safe environment. Thank you.

My mum has been in Ashton House for just over a year. In that period I have found the home to always be clean. All the staff who work there whether they look after my mum or not are very friendly. If I have any concerns they quickly find out the answers for me also if mum ever sees the doctor. I am always informed on the same day about their findings even if there was nothing wrong. This has been very comforting as I didn't see her for 3 months due to Covid-19.

Dad has been in Ashton House for just over a year now and we feel blessed every day for the love and care he is shown all the time. It is a welcoming place, visitors are always welcome, it is clean and well maintained and the staff there are truly amazing. They always have a smile on their faces and show nothing but kindness towards the residents in their care. It is a fun place too! Lots of music, dancing and activities going on all the time. Lots of trips out too, something we know Dad really really enjoys. We would recommend this care home to anyone.

My mother became bed ridden as her cancer progressed. Unable to care for her adequately at home we chose Ashton House. I am so pleased that she is always clean, comfortable and happy in her surroundings. I feel she is cared for far better than I could do at home. The nurses all seem to know who she is and what her condition is. Everyone I have met is friendly and seems very caring. I am so pleased I chose Ashton House.
