Cavell House Care Home

My friend was admitted to this home just before the Covid crisis. I felt that the staff were kind to her and appreciated the various lounges when I could visit her. She enjoyed the various events too.

My brother was admitted to Cavell House Care Home in August 2020, suffering from two incurable conditions. At that time he was bed-bound, rarely eating or drinking sufficiently and not communicating. His condition has been completely transformed, to the extent that he can now do all that he couldn't before. The staff have been extremely accommodating, despite the current Covid climate. If there has been anything required, the staff always supported the family's requests.

I have just come home after visiting my Great Uncle at Cavell House. I was blown away by the kindness of the staff and how my Uncle is being looked after. I was greeted in a professional manner and shown to my Uncle's room, which was very clean and tidy. I could only speak through the window to my Uncle (due to him self isolating) but the staff had such a beaming smile and warm nature, I instantly knew that he was in safe hands. It is so comforting to know that my Uncle will spend his last days being treated with such care and dignity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The Covid 19 lockdown ran on throughout my sister's time at Cavell House so I am mostly judging and commenting on impressions from outside looking in. I am satisfied she was looked after as well as was possible. Staff were always far helpful and caring when I phoned or visited.

I was very well looked after and the food was excellent.

The team took excellent care of my father during the end of his life. The care, management and attention to my father cannot be faulted. Furthermore, their approach to the COVID virus crisis to ensure the safety of the patient and their co-workers was very diligent and thought through.

As I was an NHS patient at the home I cannot comment on value for money.

The only thing that is missing would be the outside entertainers to engage with the patients. The level of care from the staff is still at a high standard despite these terrible times. I confirm that I'm looking forward to resuming normal visiting.

Overall my dad gets well looked after and if there are issues the manager is always on hand and approachable and she quickly improves the situation or explains why. She has created (with the staff) a home which is friendly, like a family, and my dad seems very settled here.

They have been outstanding during the hard times.

Whenever I visited my great aunt there was always a cheery welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The staff always made time for a brief chat and were extremely kind and understanding with auntie. After her death, they spoke to me of her last days and reassured me that she died peacefully and gave her lots of hugs when she most needed them.

The last few weeks have been very difficult for us all. All the staff have risen to the occasion magnificently. The staff are happy, hardworking and caring. We can't praise them enough. My father is very happy here, he's well-fed and cared for, above all he is loved. Thank you.

Although I live outside UK and can only visit my mother infrequently, Cavell House has always looked after her well, especially during these dangerous times. When my wife and I are able to visit, the staff, medical and managerial people have always been good. Management also communicates well in-between visits.

If I were ever to need a care home for whatever reason I would hope that it might be here, where I know I will get the care needed.

Thank you very much for all your help. We as a family could not have coped alone.

The new painted rooms look very clean and bright.

Cavell House has a very happy and positive atmosphere. The nurses are kind, happy and efficient. The rooms are comfortable. The food is good, the amenities satisfactory and the medical care good. I cannot comment on the value for money as I did not have to pay. But I would recommend it to anyone.

My father is getting back to his old self and I would like to thank the staff here for that. He is on the mend from his mental state that was very bad about 6 months ago. He likes the staff and Cavell House, which I thank them for this. I did not want to put him in a home but he wanted to so it wasn't a decision and I am so glad I did. Thank you all the staff at Cavell House.

The staff are helpful, kind things to do like days out. The food is very good. Very clean. Cavell House feels like a home from home. The manager is very kind and she gets things done and she is warm. The manager is also very easy to talk to. The staff always ask me what I want and nothing is too much trouble.

Cavell House was by far the best home out of six I viewed when trying to find a home for my 86 year old Mother. Her words are 'It's not home - but it's the nearest to home there is'. There is always a happy atmosphere and laughter and chit chat is always apparent. The food is excellent and in abundance. Residents families are encouraged to join in activities, for example, lunch on Mothers Day.
