Darlington Court is situated in the peaceful seaside town of Littlehampton. The friendly and experienced care team provides residential, dementia and nursing care for older people on a permanent or short term basis.

The purpose-built home has a large, bright dining room, stunning lounges and smaller garden rooms, ideal for relaxing and catching up with loved ones. The beautiful and secure gardens, which include a patio and lawns, are particularly popular on warmer days. Residents are welcome to help out with weeding and planting.

The activities team supports residents to continue enjoying whatever hobbies they love or to find new pursuits to enjoy. By getting to know every resident as an individual, care is tailored to their exact needs.

Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level
of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge.

an agreed hourly charge for this service.

My dad moved into Darlington Court in May last year and I’m very happy with his care. The staff are lovely, they know him and are kind and considerate and helpful. He has a nice room which he’s happy with and he makes good use of the communal spaces as well. There is a daily schedule of activities and
I’m grateful that he gets considerably more stimulation and social interaction than before he moved in. I don’t live locally so it’s very reassuring to know he is well cared for. The home also uses an app to log activities he’s taken part in and they regularly post photos on their social media page so I can see what he’s been doing despite not being local to him. They also keep me informed of his health and any issues he has and do so promptly.

My father has been a resident at Darlington Court for six months. All the staff are great with him and nothing is ever too much effort. Everyone is very welcoming when we visit and we know that we can speak to the staff at any time. My father is very comfortable and at ease at Darlington Court.

My friend was admitted to Darlington Court approximately a year ago. She was in quite a bad way, but having seen her over the last year, she has not only improved with her health but in her mental spirit as well. She can be quite difficult and stubborn, but the staff/carers treat her with respect and
dignity. The staff from reception and up are always welcoming and fun to meet. If I had a relative needing care, I would certainly recommend Darlington Court.

Sadly my Mother only had a very short stay in Darlington Court I really wish that it had been longer all of the staff were amazing, very friendly and could not do enough for us, it was as if they had known my Mother and all her family for years. The home and rooms were very clean and modern and homely

Our mum is very happy at Darlington Court. She came to Darlington Court after being at two other homes that did not meet her needs and had become distressed about being in an unfamiliar setting. My sister and I had also become very worried and upset about the whole situation. As soon as we got to Darlington
we were completely reassured and although Mum's dementia has progressed a lot, she has had the best treatment possible and we are very happy with her and every aspect of her care.

My father was in hospital and had become increasingly frail so his old care home did not feel they could take him back. We had to quickly find somewhere to take Dad that could provide dementia and nursing care. The staff at Darlington Court were extremely helpful and understanding and we organised his
discharge to the home in a matter of days. Unfortunately, due to Covid, he needed to isolate when he arrived so we were not able to visit however the staff soon realised he was on 'end of life' care and enabled both my sister and I to visit around our holidays. We were both there together when we were called to say that he was nearing the end of his days which was so important to us. Sadly Dad was only at Darlington Court for nine days so we were not able to give a review in more depth. However, what we saw was that the care he had seemed good and the staff were all kind to both Dad and us at a difficult time.

Our mum received very good care at Darlington Court for almost two years. The care team are kind and attentive and create a safe world for those, like Mum, who are living with the confusions of dementia. Carers were patient and looked after residents with good humour. The food always looked really appetising
and everywhere always looked clean and cared for. Pre-Covid there was a range of activities for residents both provided by the carers and outside entertainers. We only moved Mum so she could be with her sister who had sadly had a stroke. We are grateful to all at Darlington Court for taking care of Mum all through Covid, at a time when we could hardly see her, it was a comfort to know she was in good hands.

My mother received nursing care for three months while staying at Darlington Court Care Home. Aged 96 years, my mother had become extremely frail physically and she had become mentally damaged following suffering from a stroke in January 2021.

From being withdrawn and hardly talking a few months ago, Mum is now very responsive, chatty and happy due to the care and encouragement of all the staff.
She is eating far better and is appreciating all that the different staff members do for her, from making sure she is happy with the menu (different
allergies) to carefully brushing her hair. It's the little things that have made such a difference to her.
She often tells me, that nurse is lovely she does x, y, z.
It has been so hard on both residents and relatives this last year, but everyone here has tried to make things easier by video calls and, when allowed, visits.
Nothing seems like too much trouble, I am so pleased Mum is cared for here.
I would highly recommend it.

The last time I saw Mum was the day she arrived at Darlington Court, nearly four weeks ago. At that point she’d just spent three weeks in hospital and because of the effects of Alzheimer's disease, she was understandably confused and bewildered following the move to Darlington Court.
When we visited,
my wife and I could not believe how much Mum had improved in those four weeks; “transformed” as my wife put it!
She has clearly settled in very well and during our 30-minute visit was happy and relaxed, with no sign of the aggression we have witnessed at home in recent months.
Mum commented on how friendly everybody is – staff and residents alike – and this was apparent to us also. There was a lovely, happy atmosphere.
Mum is willingly joining in with the activities and is enjoying her food. Her hair also looked lovely.
We are grateful to all the team at Darlington Court for the wonderful care they are giving mum and for making such a difference to her quality of life.

Due to current restrictions, it is impossible to answer all questions. My friend's solicitor has Power of Attorney. However, she and I speak at least 3 times a day on the telephone. Life is not easy and we both have many problems. I know from what she tells me and from the attitude of the staff that
I speak to that she is well cared for. I have visited 3 times recently and the routine has been most efficient and the weather kind! She is (in my opinion) a fussy eater but she often tells me she has enjoyed a meal. This morning she is waiting for her hair to be washed and earlier in the week the podiatrist attended. She was very pleased with the result. I have no idea how much all this is costing her. Thank you all for being there during these difficult times.

I have a master’s degree in social work and a level 5 diploma in health and social care leadership.


These qualifications have been essential, giving me the knowledge and skills to provide high-quality care to residents, as well as support colleagues.


I wanted to work at Care UK because I am passionate about making a positive difference to people’s lives. I also wanted to be part of a team that genuinely provides exceptional care.


To be a home manager, you need to have strong communication skills, while also being patient, adaptable, and organised. Problem-solving is also important, as is being compassionate.


My role also means providing a supportive environment for colleagues. Everyone should feel heard and valued. Ultimately, a positive workplace contributes to all our success and the well-being of residents.


For me, the best part of the day is when I get the chance to connect with residents and see them thrive here. It is incredibly rewarding, knowing that I am part of a team that actively cares about improving people’s lives.


Outside of work, I enjoy DIY projects and going to the gym. Both help me stay active and creative, which gives me a great work-life balance.
