The care shown to my dad was amazing and so reassuring as he was there from the start of the pandemic. The staff became his family and gave him the love that we weren’t able to, they really went above and beyond. I hope they all realise what a relief and help it was to us knowing how well he was looked
after.
It was a difficult time for the care home and many personal sacrifices were made for which we are so grateful, thank you.

I am extremely happy with the care my husband has received since he arrived in Kings Lodge in November 2021. I had heard good reports of the home and it has lived up to its reputation. Although he is now bedridden he always seems content and is obviously well looked after by the staff. They bring to
their job compassion and a personal touch which is so important. I am informed immediately if there is a medical concern and I have regular updates on his condition from a nurse when I visit, which is very reassuring. His birthday was last week and was made a memorable occasion when the staff on his floor came in with a cake singing Happy Birthday. He sang along which indicates that despite his memory loss, he still remembered the words. A big thank you to all the staff.
Reply from Sajila Mano, Home Manager at Kings LodgeThank you so much for your kind and encouraging words, we are pleased that your husband has settled well. Our team here at Kings Lodge is so happy to hear such amazing feedback.

My father has a permanent room in the nursing wing. As a man with his mental faculties still strong he is in a difficult situation as a bedbound person.
The care he receives is compassionate and professional.
He is contented and at peace thanks to the steady care he is given.
His room is quiet and
clean. He is always well groomed and clean.
The nursing staff have conquered his horrible bed sores which has taken him out of pain.
I am very grateful that my dad is in such good hands.

Both my mother and father-in-law entered Kings Lodge in 2021. Unfortunately, my mother-in-law passed away in the latter part of this year.
The respect, care and concern shown by the staff at Kings Lodge made the sad experience so much more bearable. The expertise, support and kindness of the nurse
and care team along with the wider team was and still is, invaluable to us.
Kings Lodge continue to care for my father-in-law and to support us (his family) in keeping him safe and well looked after. Thank you.

My sibling has been a resident for 10 months. During that time I believe the care has been excellent. Staff are friendly, efficient, kind, and always available if I've asked to see them. My sibling is always well-turned out and has a nice rapport with staff. They all work very hard in the residents'
interests. During covid, the activity people filled in where outside people would have entertained to maintain interest and welfare of their residents.

My father has a number of medical needs as well as dementia and it was a difficult decision to move him into a home but he was no longer able to live at home due to his care needs. Kings Lodge have been wonderful. My father has been there for almost a year and their care and attention right from the
start has been exceptional and I feel that they really understand his needs. My father is always clean and tidy and well-kempt when I see him. He says the staff are very kind. The staff always make a fuss of the residents especially on their birthdays and they make a big thing of days like Halloween, Christmas (including a pantomime!), and Easter and they encourage all the residents to get involved. They play word games and have competitions between the different floors as well and my father says he really enjoys this. The whole home smells clean but not clinical and it is a very welcoming place with a lovely garden. I would highly recommend it as a home.

My mother felt happy, safe, and well-looked after during her time living at Kings Lodge. The floor manager was so professional, kind, and caring as were her team of carers and support staff, all contributing to a truly holistic experience. Nothing was too much trouble and we were impressed by the way
the well-selected and trained staff anticipated Mum’s needs and were always so kind and positive. I know Mum also loved the Activities Officer and her colleague painting her nails and doing her hair during lockdown. These were very important to Mum’s sense of well-being and dignity. A special mention also to the weekend nurses who cared for mum during her last days. Both my wife and I have held senior positions in the Health and Social Care sectors and we know what Good and Excellent ‘look like’, and Kings Lodge is right up there with the best. I have recommended Kings Lodge to many friends for its high-quality standards. Thank you.

My sister made Kings Lodge her home in April 2015 after experiencing a nasty fall and not being able to walk. She also suffered from Dementia. Sadly she died on 24th May in the home where she had been loved and cared for by an incredible team of caring professional people. I am so pleased we made the
decision to leave her there. From the very first day, I have never worried that she wasn't being looked after well (she wasn't the easiest of residents due to her mental condition). On a number of occasions, I received phone updates when her condition changed and all through the lockdown. It wasn't only my sister they made sure was alright, they cared for her family too. The support I had as she was dying and since has been comforting. A very big thank you to all involved,

My husband has been at Kings Lodge for three years now, he settled well all the staff understand his complex needs and even though the COVID pandemic his needs and routine were maintained. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Activities are well organised and during the COVID lockdown activity, ladies
organised video calls once a week to keep us in touch with our loved ones. Well done to all the staff at Kings Lodge.

I cannot believe how lucky we were to find Kings Lodge when we needed help with my mother. The staff have all been so kind and considerate to her and treat her like family.
Though out this difficult year of the pandemic, I know that she has been in loving hands who have looked after her every need.
They
regularly publish photos and videos on their Facebook page where my sister and I can see what they have all been up to. I cannot believe how much effort they put in to stimulate my mother in her progressing dementia. I know she is happy there.
I could not have asked for her to be in a nicer place. Thank you.

My uncle arrived at King's Lodge during last year's lockdown and he was welcomed with open arms by the manager and deputy manager and their amazing staff team. As my uncle's needs changed, the manager kept me and my sister informed, creating ways and adaptations to support him whilst always consulting
with us and providing support to us too with a high level of professionalism and understanding. During the Covid visits, the 'pink ladies' always greeted my sister and me warmly and ensured our uncle was comfortable and safe for all. Therefore I can highly recommend this home as I have enormous respect for all the care they gave to my uncle.

The activity staff (pink uniforms) who have been manning the protected visits at the home have been wonderful. On our last visit, they stayed with my mum as she has dementia and doesn't communicate easily. Not being able to visit family has been very hard during the covid lockdown, and so any visit
is very special. The home has organised everything so well so we have been able to see her safely. Overall, the level of care she received is the best we have had throughout her illness. The staff are so dedicated and kind; this can be seen when you visit, they are all so happy and calm. Thank you to all the staff at Kings Lodge.

I cannot sufficiently express my gratitude to the Manager and staff of Kings Lodge nursing home for the foresight and dedication which has kept the establishment free from the COVID-19 virus. I applaud the decisiveness which caused the home to be closed early, however painful to all concerned and can
only imagine how hard the staff must have worked to sustain appropriate levels of hygiene. The regular emails to keep relatives informed were most kind and very reassuring, especially in the earliest, most frightening weeks.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.872)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.872) out of 10 for Kings Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.897 for Kings Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (203 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 224 Ratings = 4.897
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kings Lodge is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 77 registered maximum number of service users is 15.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
