The staff were then, and have been ever since, simply wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble and it is obvious to me that the residents are front and centre of everything that is done at Westlake.
There is a very full and varied activity offering, including regular visits offsite to different local garden centres and places/events of interest. The food is fantastic, the dining room and gardens that they overlook are beautiful. The bedrooms and communal areas are also well decorated, looked after and have a comfortable feel.
All of the staff are just wonderful and the nursing staff are super attentive, responding to even the slightest of changes and/or concerns and keep me extremely well informed.
I have no doubts in recommending Westlake House to anyone looking to ensure that their loved one is well looked after.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review and the extremely kind words that you said about the staff and the home.
2 weeks respite after operations was just what I needed.

I can't recommend this nursing home enough. From the moment we walk in, it truly feels like home from home. The staff are warm, caring and genuinely dedicated to the residents wellbeing, always going above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable and valued. The environment is lovely - clean & welcoming. It gives our family a real peace of mind knowing our mum is so well cared for and happy. Thank you to the whole team at Westlake House for the compassion and support you show every single day.

I have been visiting Westlake for approximately 3 years as a veteran, my friend also a veteran became a resident in 2025. He spoke highly of his care and general welbeing at the home. I have found the staff to be nothing other than supportive & friendly during my visits.

All the staff and management are first class. Happy and so helpful in any assistanc or jobs that is asked of them
Westlake is a very caring home with a friendly atmosphere and all the staff are so good. My husband has recieved excellent attention and care and I could not have wished for better for him. It has given us both a better quality of life and time together. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff organise so many things that are needed to make his stay here the best. Thoroughly recommend this care home. It is like a good hotel!!
Welcome on arrival, friendly staff helped me settle in. Pleasant room on the ground floor. Excellent food menu, well cooked and presented both in room and dining room. Did not use the activities, as only there for 2 weeks post op care, but used service of hairdresser. Happy stay miss them all very much. Would not hesitate to recommend Westlake House at this point in time.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write us a review. It was a pleasure to have you stay with us at Westlake. I am delighted to read your lovely comments. I will share this feedback with all the staff as I am sure this will bring joy to them to know you enjoyed your stay.
Most caring, kind approach to residents I've seen in any care home I've visited.
Home is beautifully looked after, immaculately kept - more like a hotel.
My husband had been a resident at Westlake House Care Home for nine months, so my family knew I would receive very good care.
I am now a permanent resident.

The home is always welcoming, extremely clean, warm bright and sunny.
The staff are also very welcoming, caring, available to answer any queries etc.
The residents are encouraged to dine together, if able, in the dining room. The food is always plentiful and flavoursome.
There are activities daily which residents are taken to if unable to manage themselves.
Westlake is not the nearest home to us however it was and is an excellent choice which I would not hesitate in recommending to anyone.
There has also been a new manager appointed in our time, her door is 'always open' and the manager is an asset to the team along with the admin assistant, home administrator and the whole nursing team and carers.
Mum is currently very poorly but I have peace of mind knowing she is cared for as well as I could if possible.
Thank you to you all.

The family were able to spend many hours in the beautiful sunny garden with him. He enjoyed the delicious food and friendly atmosphere. Meet the Team (15)

Hi, my name is Linda, and I am the General Manager here at Westlake House. Welcome to our website!
My passion for working with older people in a nursing home environment started with my first registered manager position in 2003. My career has also included positions such as a Practice Development Nurse and a Dementia Specialist. Before Barchester, I was a Director of Care for a luxury retirement village, commissioning both a nursing home and a domiciliary care service. This position involved managing, coaching and mentoring the registered managers.
I am proud of being able to make a difference to people's lives by providing high-quality, person-centred care in a supportive learning environment within an open and fair culture.
My door is always open for a coffee (or tea) and a chat, whether that is for residents, relatives or staff members.

I began my nursing career in Italy and chose to pursue my passion further in the UK.
I have a strong background in providing care to a diverse range of residents' needs and I understand the challenges that they may encounter in day-to-day life. I enjoy working closely alongside our residents and their families to ensure that they receive the utmost level of person-centred care & support that they require, whilst also assisting them to achieve their goals no matter how big or small.
As Deputy Manager, my overall aim is to support the team by working closely alongside our General Manager to ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
Should you have any queries please feel free to get in touch and I am happy to provide my full support.

Tria is a registered nurse and has experience working as a manager at a nursing home before joining Westlake House in October 2018. Tria provides support and assistance to the General Manager in running the care home on a day-to-day basis. Tria is involved in leading and supporting the nurses to provide excellent care services to those we support.

I started working at Westlake House in August 2023.
I began my career in care in 2013 as a support worker and went on to work as a Senior Team Leader, later moving into care administration and care recruitment. I am very passionate about the care industry and strive to ensure that my team and I deliver the best quality service to our residents and their families.

I joined Barchester Care at Westlake House in April 2026 as an Administrative Assistant. Since starting, everyone at Westlake House has been incredibly lovely and welcoming, which has made settling into the role a really positive experience.
I have been working in the healthcare sector since 2024, and I’m excited to continue developing my skills and begin this new chapter with Barchester at Westlake House. I’m also really looking forward to getting to know the residents and being part of creating a warm, supportive environment for everyone.
I look forward to contributing to the team and supporting the important work we do.

Before my position at Westlake, I was a Maintenance Manager at a local airfield, and I am looking forward to taking the maintenance position to great heights here.
My role means that every day is different; one-minute l am a plumber, then next an electrician, then a painter & decorator – just to name a few of the things l do!I enjoy all the discussions that I have with the residents here at Westlake and every day they teach me something different. I enjoy working alongside and discussing with residents the different ways to do things.

Pearl joined Westlake House in April 2020. Pearl has many years of experience in a similar role. She has brought a refreshing new enthusiasm to our housekeeping team and our residents.

I joined the Barchester family in November 2024 and have instantly felt welcome and supported. As an activity coordinator, I am passionate about getting to know our residents and delivering person-centred care and activities to all residents, an approach supported by a holistic, whole-home view.
I have been in a Care support role since 2019 and an Activity Coordinator since 2020. I love that my role brings laughter and joy to others. It is so wonderful seeing people engaging in an activity they enjoy and interacting with each other. I am very passionate about Intergenerational projects, as something magical happens when old and young get together.

After 20 years as a Customer Services Manager for a local Housing Association once taking voluntary redundancy I decided on a complete career change. I took a minibus driving course, brushed up my DIY skills and became a Maintenance Assistant.
Now there is no greater job satisfaction than as part of the Westlake Maintenance Team giving the best possible customer service we can to our residents, fixing whatever needs to be fixed and sharing the experiences as we go out on one of our regular trips in the minibus.
Making a difference during their stay with us is what it is all about and getting to know the residents and their families and learning about their varied and amazing lives makes the job all the more enjoyable.

Sheila Elliott is our new Resident Representative at Westlake House.
She has been selected by our residents as well as staff to take on the role of our Residents' Representative. This position within the home is one of many responsibilities. Sheila will work alongside the residents as their trusted confidant. All topics of improvement, worries, complaints and praises within the home will be handed over to Sheila, where it will then be mentioned in our monthly Residents and Relatives meeting that is held every first Monday of the month.
We look forward to working with Sheila to improve all aspects of life at Westlake House.

My name is Florica Negrean, and I joined Barchester Healthcare in 2022 as a Senior Carer. I have worked in residential care for many years, and I really enjoy getting to know residents and finding out about them and their lives.
I have been one of the Speak Up Champions at Westlake House since 2023. I am very passionate about my role and ensuring that our residents and staff all feel safe and happy.

My name is Dinkle Davis, and I am a Registered Nurse at Westlake House care home. I joined Barchester in 2022 as a Senior Carer and, since gaining my PIN in 2024, have been a Registered Nurse.
I have many years of experience working in residential and nursing care and am very passionate about the care we deliver to our residents.

I love my role, which involves supporting the care team as well as the nurses with clinical tasks; it has a great variety, and no two days are the same. I enjoy helping the residents, talking about their lives and getting to know them and their families.

My name is Kerry, and I am a Carer and the Dementia Champion at Westlake House. I have been at Westlake since 2022. I am very passionate about my role and delivering the highest quality care for our wonderful residents. My role as Dementia Champion allows me to be a voice for our residents and provides me with the knowledge and training to best support our residents and their families.
I am currently working towards my NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care and am enjoying using my years of experience to further my education.

Our house was a stone's throw from the main government hospital called Mpilo - meaning Health.
I always loved to see doctors and nurses go in and out of the hospital, but I never thought I would be a nurse one day.
I came to the UK in November 1999. I began working in Westlake House in 2002 for 6 months and came back in 2004 until 2019. Now l’m back again after a 3-year absence.
Westlake has always felt like my hometown to me. Wherever I’ve been, l always wished to come back home to Westlake House. What a great Home, a great team and supportive management.
There is no place like Westlake House; our residents, relatives and visitors all echo the same sentiments.
When l do retire, l will be forever grateful for having been part of this fine establishment and having had the opportunity to fulfil my childhood dream.
