Our mother moved into Cherry Hinton Care Home in December as she needed nursing care. This is her third care home and we are blown away by her care. The staff are kind, enthusiastic, efficient and caring. I cannot fault them in any area. The nursing staff, in particular, have been amazing, always keeping
us informed and constantly monitoring our mother's care. I could not recommend this home highly enough!

My mother has been here for over two years, she is 94 and was very happy to move here as she wanted the company and had been falling at home and outside.
Up until recently, she has been mobile with a frame. She is very happy here. It is a great place, wonderful staff and activities. I have felt reassured
that Mum is being very well looked after. Thank you.

My mother was discharged from hospital and into Cherry Hinton Care Home on a discharge to assess. She has been very happy and comfortable throughout her stay. All staff are polite and professional and, as a family, we are all at ease that Mum is being cared for 24 hours a day. I would recommend this
care home.

A high standard of care, plenty of nurses and all very friendly. Everything is well-organised. Very easy to contact nurses. Always ready to help. Very good care for the individual. Very good communication by email. Very open to concerns and quick to do something about it. Some nurses needed a bit of
help with the hearing aids. Altogether, a very good care home.

My father has been resident in this care home for the last 15 months after having a life-changing stroke and a long hospital stay. The staff working here are simply amazing; they go above and beyond to support the residents. My father has been treated with such kindness, care and understanding. He has
made great progress while here. The facilities are excellent. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and have en-suite facilities. The communal kitchen-diner is a nice relaxing social space. The food is excellent. As a health care worker in the NHS myself, l cannot find any fault with this place. l have peace of mind knowing that my dad is happy in this home and he is being well looked after.
Reply from Amber Christou, Business Development Manager at Cherry Hinton Care HomeThank you so much for your kind feedback; it has been a pleasure getting to know your Dad during the time he has been at Cherry Hinton Care Home. Care and consideration for my mother and our visiting family were very good. We felt welcome at any time of day which put our minds at ease.
The feel and appearance of the home were clean and comfortable.
The entertainment team encouraged Mum to join in with various activities where she was able
but without pressure to do so.
The food and drink were readily offered and of a good standard, I would have liked to see more variety of fresh salad/vegetables available.
The kitchen/dining room and lounges were always very clean, warm and welcoming and I was pleased that my mum was encouraged to join other residents at mealtimes. The lovely gardens made this care home just right for us and I'll always feel grateful for the view Mum had from her window.
Sadly, my mum is no longer with us but I am glad that we chose Cherry Hinton Care Home for her, I felt reassured to know she was safe and well looked after in our absence and my family and I always felt welcome, which was so comforting.
Reply from Shelly Prakash, Home Manager at Cherry Hinton Care HomeThank you so much for your feedback, resident and family feedback is so important to us here at Cherry Hinton Care Home. My dad was only with you for four days.
Right from the beginning when we spoke to the community development manager and looked around, we felt it would be just the right place for him as it has such a calm and homely feel.
When we arrived ahead of Dad we were warmly greeted by a member of staff
and were able to get his room ready for him - which was to a very high standard of cleanliness and finish. We were very soon looked after by two other members of staff who made sure Dad settled in well.
Another member of staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about my dad's care and treated us so kindly, not forgetting our names or my sister's. We felt as well cared for as Dad.
We were reassured by the regular checks made on patients day and night and the level of comfort Dad was given during his stay. My husband and I were also so well looked after during our visits, being offered lovely fresh food, drinks and snacks.
We were contacted by staff in good time for us to travel to be with Dad when needed and we are so grateful for this.
Thank you all.

My grandmother took residency at Cherry Hinton Care Home for a short amount of time after having surgery.
The care she received was wonderful and she was extremely happy to live there for the final chapter of her life.
Her room was spacious and kept clean and tidy.
She really enjoyed the variety
of activities and loved the trip to the local garden centre with the well-being team.
Towards the end of her life, we were really impressed with the level of care she received. She seemed very comfortable and peaceful.
The management team at Cherry Hinton were very helpful and super friendly.
A great place to live and gave us all utter peace of mind knowing my grandmother was cared for to a very high standard.
Thank you, everyone!

My lovely mother-in-law has been residing at Cherry Hinton Care Home for almost two weeks. During this time we have been very impressed with the quality of care and attentiveness given by the team. We have been regularly informed of my mother-in-law's progress and are pleasantly surprised that carers
remember us when we visit. The call from the well-being team to gather non-medical information about my mother-in-law makes us feel that she will be treated with dignity and genuine interest. We are comforted that my mother-in-law is being well cared for in her final days.

My wife has been a resident since July. Settled in very quickly - first as a short-term care resident then as a long-term resident in September. Initially occupying a smaller single room and later a larger room with an ensuite shower. Never been bored or left for long with nothing to do. She has Parkinson's
disease which has caused challenges for staff which they have overcome cheerfully and competently.

I am relieved and encouraged to see my husband cared for in the way the staff do here. There is a buzz to the place of positivity and care both for my husband and me too. He enjoys the food, interacting with the staff and the view into the gardens, to name but a few. The open visiting is a measure I
think, I think, of the confidence with which they know the place is run. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.956)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.956) out of 10 for Cherry Hinton Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 43 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.956 for Cherry Hinton Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (484 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 504 Ratings = 4.956
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cherry Hinton Care Home is based on 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 43 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

PDL’s are primarily focused on ensuring care standards and practices for their respective home.
They are also responsible for supporting the learning and development objectives across their home and at group level.
I am a registered nurse with over a decade of experience in elderly nursing. I started my nursing journey in New Zealand with an acute medical/surgical background, theatre and community mental health nursing. Since arriving in the UK in 2015, my experience has been care home based and my previous role before joining TLC was Regional Clinical Trainer for a large care home company.
I joined TLC in June 2025, and I am very excited about the new role, supporting staff and being part of the team at Cherry Hinton.

Job Title: Hotel Services Manager Joined: 2018

I have had the privilege of serving as Hotel Services Manager and Head Chef at Cherry Hinton Care Home for over six years. Originally from the small island state of Grenada, I bring with me a lifelong passion for hospitality, deeply rooted in the culture and natural beauty of my homeland. In Grenada, hospitality is more than an industry; it is a way of life, woven seamlessly into our connection with people and nature.

My career in hospitality began in Grenada, where I developed a profound appreciation for service excellence within natural, sustainable environments. This philosophy continues to shape my professional practice, as I strive to create welcoming, nurturing settings that honour both people and the environment.

Care, catering, innovation, and sustainability have become increasingly important focus for me, driven by a strong desire for continuous learning and the pursuit of new challenges. I am passionate about integrating sustainable principles into every aspect of my work, ensuring that the hospitality experience is not only of the highest standard but also respectful of the world around us.

I am committed to delivering exceptional service with authenticity, warmth, and integrity, while embracing opportunities for growth and innovation within the hospitality sector.
