Following discharge from hospital, our mother resided at the care home for end-of-life care on the dementia ward. She was very well cared for during the short time she was there before passing away. All the staff were friendly, totally dedicated to all the residents and so attentive to any of our needs,
particularly during the last few days of our mother’s life.
Reply from Shelly Prakash, Home Manager at Cherry Hinton Care HomeThank you so much for your feedback, it's greatly appreciated. Here at Cherry Hinton, we specialise in residential, nursing, dementia and also end-of-life care. We recognise the importance of supporting both the resident and the family members through such difficult times and will go above and beyond to ensure that happens. It was a pleasure getting to know your mother along with the family as well. Wishing you all the best.

Mum has improved since she was moved downstairs. It's been really nice to see her taking part in the activities available and although she's not been used to group activities in the past, I think she's enjoying taking part. All the staff I've met have a positive attitude and are very friendly. Mum's
room is spacious and clean and she tells me the food is good. Hopefully Mum can get some time in the garden when the weather improves. Overall, I'm very happy with the home and would recommend it to others.
Reply from Shelly Prakash, Home Manager at Cherry Hinton Care HomeThank you so much for your feedback. It has been so lovely getting to know you and your mum whilst she is living here at Cherry Hinton Care Home. We do pride ourselves on the 5-star dining experience we offer here at the home, along with our beautiful landscaped gardens which are open for residents and family members to enjoy whilst here at the home.

Every member of staff have been truly amazing with the care given to my sister. They not only gave unending support to my sister but provided me and my family with kindness and empathy at a very difficult time. I entered the Cherry Hinton Care Home for a period of four weeks, starting 14th January 2022, to accompany my wife who was admitted as a resident on the same day.
The purpose of my visit was to help her settle into dementia nursing on a permanent basis. This was successful and she is now residing in
the dementia nursing section. She eats and keeps well but is continuously active, walking around the dementia section.
Reply from Shelly Prakash, Home Manager at Cherry Hinton Care HomeThank you so much for your feedback, it has been so lovely getting to know you both over the last few weeks. It's lovely to see that your wife is now settling here at the home. We look forward to seeing you very soon.

My 96-year-old mother has settled in well after an emergency hospital admission from her bungalow home and now is staying permanently at Cherry Hinton Care Home as she needs more care than can otherwise be provided for her. The staff have been understanding of the emotional upset for the whole family
during her recovery and have facilitated visits and Skype calls. Mum's room has been made 'her own' and she enjoys the food and the activities. She was particularly pleased to attend a resident's meeting and be able to attend church. The home is clean and I appreciate the clinical cleanliness and the efforts to keep residents safe during Covid. Well done to all staff working under pressure at this time. I know that Mum is as safe and as happy as she can be at this time of her life.
Reply from Shelly Prakash, Home Manager at Cherry Hinton Care HomeThank you so much for your feedback, it's been so lovely getting to know your mother while living here at the home. I can certainly say that Mum has settled in well and feels at 'home' with her room personalised just to how she likes it. Our maintenance manager prides himself on personalising rooms and likes to ensure that residents feel comfortable in their transition period. We are lucky to have an amazing care and well-being team who are on hand daily to assist with any help that our residents need. Thanks again for your feedback and we look forward to seeing you soon!

My brother was placed in the home following an eight week stay in hospital. He was extremely fragile physically, the home were exceptional in ensuring that he was fed his meals and cared for in an empathetic manner by both nurses and care assistants. All the staff at the home were kind, caring and courteous
at all times and nothing was too much trouble. An exceptional environment that we rated highly.

My daughter and I first visited the home when my husband was in hospital and a return to the family home was not possible. We were warmly welcomed and were impressed by the facilities on offer and by the friendliness of the staff and other residents. We have since seen first-hand the professional and
caring side of all members of staff. My husband is treated with dignity and respect and always in a calm manner. All residents are called by name, as are family members and visitors, and there is always a member of staff available to help if needed. Residents are encouraged to join in the many activities on offer and there is always a selection of home-cooked, nutritional food on offer. The home is also very clean.
As a family, we feel confident that my husband is being looked after as well as he possibly can be and are happy to recommend Cherry Hinton Care Home to those looking for care for a loved one.

My independent, 90-year-old mother was not at all keen to go into a nursing home but her mobility deteriorated and there was really no other option. I was surprised and relived how quickly she settled in. Staff are all lovely and kind, unhurried and professional. Food is very good with plenty of choice,
and a lot of thought has gone into a varied programme of activities. She has especially enjoyed the exercise classes and a piano concert. Rooms are nicely furnished and everywhere is kept very clean. There is a lovely garden which is easy to access in a wheelchair. She is happy and well looked after which makes all the difference to me.

From the moment my father entered Cherry Hinton Care Home he was greeted with such a warm welcome I knew I had made the right decision and within just a few days, I could see an instant transformation in my father after struggling for too long at home and resisting for far too long going into care.
Nothing is too much trouble and everything is done to accommodate him bringing bits from his old home into his new one.
The kindness and professionalism shown not just to my father but to myself had made what can be a daunting experience so very easy.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.956)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.956) out of 10 for Cherry Hinton Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 43 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.956 for Cherry Hinton Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (484 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 504 Ratings = 4.956
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cherry Hinton Care Home is based on 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 43 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

At the same time, I’m committed to learning from each of you and embracing new growth opportunities.

I look forward to meeting your expectations and working together to achieve outstanding results.

I have had the privilege of serving as Hotel Services Manager and Head Chef at Cherry Hinton Care Home for over six years. Originally from the small island state of Grenada, I bring with me a lifelong passion for hospitality, deeply rooted in the culture and natural beauty of my homeland. My career in hospitality began in Grenada, where I developed a profound appreciation for service excellence within natural, sustainable environments. This philosophy continues to shape my professional practice, as I strive to create welcoming, nurturing settings that honour both people and the environment.

Care, catering, innovation, and sustainability have become increasingly important focus for me, driven by a strong desire for continuous learning and the pursuit of new challenges. I am passionate about integrating sustainable principles into every aspect of my work, ensuring that the hospitality experience is not only of the highest standard but also respectful of the world around us.

I am committed to delivering exceptional service with authenticity, warmth, and integrity, while embracing opportunities for growth and innovation within the hospitality sector.
