Overall Experience
The wonderful, caring and attentive staff at Cherry Hinton made the transition from independent home living into the required 24-hour care for my 90-year-old mother a much easier process than any of the family could possibly have imagined.
All members of staff - from management to cleaners - were always very caring and positive.
At such a difficult time it is hard to describe how grateful we were to receive the love and support from so many people who in a short space of time had become trusted friends and who cared for my mother as if she was their own.
We always found the premises immaculately clean, the staff ready to help and nothing too much trouble.

If I could give a star rating it would undoubtedly be five star.

Hi Georgina, many thanks for the great appreciation you have given to all staff in all departments. As you have rightly said it is always a collaborative service with the passion for caring. At T L C Care Ltd and especially at Cherry, we are a team.

Overall Experience
My mother was a resident at Cherry Hinton Care Home for just over two months before she died in February. We viewed many nursing homes in the area but did not feel any were quite right until we visited CHCH. We called unannounced and although the home manager was just about to leave for the day, she did not hesitate to take off her coat and accompanied our visit immediately herself. Our mother was in personnel in her working life and social interaction was important to her. She also had a deep faith and we were reassured by the weekly bible study sessions and church services that were organised.

Throughout Mum's short stay, she was always made to feel very special indeed. She quickly built up a rapport with all the staff, many of whom would spend one to one time with her listening to classical music, reading to her and talking about her life and family. The care provided was first class and communication excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend CHCH. Thank you for all you did.

The care and activities are outstanding by all the staff. The staff are very willing at all times to be very helpful and understanding to the resident's needs. Everyone is friendly and cheerful, and make the relatives feel very welcome.

I have been a frequent visitor to this care home for over six years and am amazed at the transformation from a comfortable but rather shabby home to a 4 star hotel - well almost. Much careful thought and planning have gone into this renovation and no expense has been spared. Indeed it is almost lavishly styled and nearly nicer than my own home!. This all assures us that our dearly loved ones are respected and nothing is too much trouble to make them really feel at home and valued. They are in safe hands, much to our profound relief in hands that are truly full of care, along with friendly, smiling faces. Praise all round and Amen!

My husband has been here nearly seven years. He has always been clean, well-shaven, fed with patience and changed as soon as needed. Medical care is called as soon as needed. I have always been greeted and made to feel welcome.

It's a good nursing home but sometimes they can't manage a person with dementia. Carers are not fully trained. Otherwise, the staff are good.

We would like to thank each and every one of the staff that cared for our Dad.
We received such a warm and kind welcome, which made a difficult time somewhat easier. Giving us peace of mind that Dad was in safe hands when we were not able to be with him. You showed attention, compassion, and patience and above all, helped to maintain his dignity the best you could which we very much appreciated.
The staff always did their utmost to help when we asked for anything, but equally were intuitive enough to allow us to have some quality time alone with Dad. This was especially appreciated on his last night with us. The staff were so considerate, offering us not only the practical things such as drinks and a quiet room to rest but kindness which goes a long way.
We are aware of the incredibly hard challenges the staff face day to day, and not every moment is rewarding. We cannot thank you enough for the outstanding care you gave our Dad in his last weeks.

With heartfelt thanks.

My Aunt had quite advanced dementia and other health concerns which could not be controlled well enough at home so she went into Cherry Hinton Care Home for the last nineteen days of her life. During this time she was much happier than recent weeks and spent every day with her husband, who had just spent fourteen weeks in hospital. We all found the staff to be very kind and helpful. I am sure if my Aunt had been at the home longer, she would have benefitted from the many activities provided and been happy. The home has recently been refurbished and is clean and airy and tastefully furnished. The food was also good. I can highly recommend this home for a loved one's respite or more permanent care.

My only comment and why I only put good for care/support has been the failure of the carers to follow through with the exercises that were given to my father. I think there is not enough emphasis on getting residents physically better.
On rehabilitation, it is great to know that you are getting some parallel bars and an exercise bike.

Otherwise, I think the carers are wonderful. So much patience!

My dad is in the final stages of dementia and his behaviour can be quite unpleasant at times, however, he receives excellent care, support and total respect at all times from all the staff at the home.

The only issue I had and he beginning which I mentioned in my last review was the laundry the home manager has resolved this issue and I have not had any issues since. The food is of a great standard and the mealtime experience is great which I have observed many times in the dining room. Cherry Hinton care Home is excellent thank you.

Our father came here for a 28 day NHS CHC assessment; sadly he died 10 days after transfer. The care, compassion and kindness shown by all staff - nursing care, admin; all gave our father and our family a safe place to be with and say our farewells. In such a few days and in spite of his complex needs, staff understood the type of man our father was and accorded him dignity and respect. We could not have hoped or wished for more. Thank you.

My father came as a temporary resident, initially for 2 weeks but ended up staying for 7 months. I was met and welcomed by one of the main nurses here who diligently kept in touch with me and inspired confidence that my Dad was being well cared for. The home is relaxed and friendly and Dad enjoyed his interaction with the staff, who were consistently respectful, kind and engaging with him.

My mother spent her last few months in the care of The Cherry Hinton Care home. The move from hospital was swift and we all felt a little anxious. But my goodness... we very soon realised what a wonderful place it was. My mother was bright and fully aware until the very end although she was bed bound. She could be impatient and grumpy at times and demanding at others - and the staff were always kind and polite. Everyone took such good care of her and this gave us so much support over the difficult months of losing someone so important to us.

The little touches of homely decor, the privacy given, the ability to listen to your own choice of music (my mother had Classic FM all the time to keep her entertained) and the love that the staff show really impressed me. You hear such terrible stories in the press about places with vulnerable patients but we really could not praise this lovely place and the staff highly enough.

Reply from Sujamole, Home Manager at Cherry Hinton Care Home

Thank you very much indeed for your kind words and thoughtful review. We are very proud of the personalised care we provide and are pleased to hear that you and your family had such a positive experience in care for your mother. We are pleased to be able to share your feedback with our teams.

Kind regards
