Found staff helpful and very friendly and caring. Nothing was too much trouble, even if they were busy. Couldn't fault.

My father-in-law went into Orchard House for end of life care, for the few weeks he was there, the staff were very professional and caring. We were always made to feel welcome when visiting day or night and nothing was too much trouble, there was always a senior carer to answer questions or put our minds at ease.
The day he passed away, the staff went above and beyond to comfort us and were very professional.

I myself would like to thank everyone for their caring, friendship and professionalism during the last few weeks, it means a lot.

My partner has come to stay at Orchard House due to breaking his right lower leg. He came from hospital and we have been made very welcome by all the staff. They have given us their time and help to ensure my partner settled in. All the staff have been very friendly in this very stressful time. Orchard House is a well-run nursing home and it is a pleasure to visit.

Thank you so much for looking after my dad on his last 24 hours before he went to sleep forever, and thank you for looking after my mum and my brothers. You made my dad's last few hours as comfortable as possible in a nice safe environment and we thank you deeply and thanks to the staff especially :)

I have been very happy with the care and attention my father received throughout his time at Orchard House. The staff and management alike are second to none. Excellent facilities and food, dad was always treated with great dignity, he loved his time there. The 24-hour visiting is fantastic it takes a lot of pressure off people who work. A huge thank you from myself and the rest of my family.

My father is looked after to a basic standard. He has advanced dementia. I feel the care could be better. He needs help and encouragement with fluids and diet and this is not always given because of staff shortages. The general cleanliness of my father could be better. Oral and foot hygiene very poor. Dignity could be better and the handling and moving of residents could be better. Staff need to be trained and monitored to a higher standard. Staff are friendly, supportive and try to provide care but staffing levels are very poor.

Welcome friendly. Staff always greet you and take the time to talk in general and on any issues. Premises in the common areas and in the personal rooms clean, tidy and well maintained. All in all, I feel that my mother is being well looked after and very well cared for. Any concerns are dealt with quickly and I am contacted to discuss any issues or concerns and kept well informed.

I fund Orchard House to be far superior to other care homes which my mother has stayed in. The rooms are quite large with en-suite facilities, extremely clean and equipped with all the things my mother required. Staff very friendly and helpful. Day room had the usual television, drinks station and all equipment needed.

During the last six months, the home has greatly improved. My mother was moved to a room downstairs and the atmosphere seems much calmer and she appears to be more comfortable. Her needs seem to be being assessed more adequately. We are being kept informed of her condition of any incidents that we were before.

My husband is a resident here. He is very well looked after and cared for. I have had no reason to make any complaints as yet. I find the staff very helpful and caring. I feel if I need to know anything I only have to ask and feel staff can do the same with me. Overall it is a very well kept and run care home. Keep up the good work. My husband has been here for over two years.

Sarah Watson
Sarah WatsonJob Title:General ManagerJoined: 2010

I have worked in the care sector for more than 20 years and joined Orchard House in 2010. Since then, I have progressed through a number of roles, beginning as a Carer and working my way up to become General Manager.

I am passionate about supporting residents and their loved ones, ensuring each person receives compassionate, person-centred care that reflects their individual needs, choices and preferences. I am equally committed to creating a positive and supportive culture where residents and team members can thrive.

It is a privilege to lead the exceptional team at Orchard House, and I am incredibly proud of everything we have achieved together. Our dedication to providing high-quality care has been recognised through success at the Great British Care Awards and, most recently, Orchard House being named Team of the Year at the Fenland Business Awards 2026.

These achievements reflect the compassion, commitment and teamwork shown by everyone at Orchard House each day. Together, we work to ensure Orchard House remains a warm, welcoming place where residents feel safe, valued and truly at home.

I am a dedicated nurse with 16 years of healthcare experience and have proudly worked at Orchard House for the past 14 years. For the last four years, I have had the privilege of supporting residents, families and our care team as Deputy Manager.

I am passionate about ensuring every resident receives high-quality care and is always treated with dignity, kindness and respect. I truly love my role and feel proud to be part of such a close-knit team.

In 2025, I was honoured to be named a finalist for the Frontline Leader Award at the Great British Care Awards, recognising my commitment to the residents and team at Orchard House.

Honey Berry
Honey BerryJob Title:Dementia Ambassador

I am Honey Berry, Dementia Ambassador at Orchard House Care Home in Wisbech. I began my career in care at the age of 18 and have more than 11 years’ experience supporting people living with dementia and their families.

My passion for dementia care is deeply personal. It began when I helped support my Nanny after she became unwell and grew stronger when my other Nanny was diagnosed with dementia. Experiencing her journey as a family member, particularly during the pandemic, gave me a deeper understanding of the fear, uncertainty and heartache dementia can bring.

As Dementia Ambassador, I combine professional knowledge with personal experience to support residents, families and colleagues at Orchard House. I champion person-centred dementia care by helping the team understand each resident’s history, preferences, routines and individual ways of communicating.

Whether connection comes through music, reminiscence, a familiar activity or a quiet moment together, my priority is to ensure every resident feels safe, valued and recognised as the person they have always been.

I also support families throughout their loved one’s dementia journey by listening without judgement, offering practical guidance and reassurance, and helping them remain involved in decisions about their loved one’s care.

My work has received regional and national recognition, including winning East of England awards for Dementia Carer, Care Assessor and Palliative/End of Life Care. I have also received national finalist and Highly Commended recognition and was invited to join the Dementia Care Awards judging panel for the Creative Nutrition Award.

The most rewarding part of my role is seeing residents laugh, build friendships, revisit treasured memories and create new ones. I am proud to help make Orchard House a warm and welcoming home where every resident feels valued, involved and supported to enjoy the things that matter to them.
