Whilst we were visiting the resident on her birthday several staff members entered the room with cake, tea and a cheerful, friendly attitude. This was good natured and sincere, with a rousing chorus of happy birthday. It's comforting to know that our friend was looked after so well and that such places
are available to us when we need them.

Since her time at Orchard House Care Home my grandma has received such a wonderful standard of care. Her health and happiness has improved and I've been happy with the care given and pleasantly surprised by the efforts made by staff to keep my grandma (now 101) engaged with activities and supported
mentally and physically. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you for your care.

Having been independent until her 100th birthday Mum came to Orchard House Care Home as a result of a fractured thigh. She has received wonderful care and the team have treated her with kindness and dignity. She has settled in very well and as we - her family are at a distance - it is comforting to
know that she is in good hands. The team are also very welcoming when we visit.

My mum was struggling to manage but did not want to leave her own home. However, sadly an accident meant a trip to the hospital, followed by rehabilitation at Orchard House Care Home.
We have been really sure[raised by Mum who now says she doesn't want to go home, but to stay at Orchard House Care
Home. I am so pleased and relieved, she is so happy to be at Orchard House. She says all the time how lovely everyone is and how good they are to her.
For me, they have been so helpful in answering all my questions and sorting things like Mums mobile phone. I have peace of mind now.
Reply from Sarah Watson, General Manager at Orchard House Care HomeThank you for your kind words, i will pass onto the team. Its great news that your mum feels comfortable enough not to want to leave and this give you and your family reassurance.

I came for rest and nursing care from the hospital, at first, very scared. I never thought in my wildest dreams I would be in a nursing home. I was mainly a barrier most of my time there but gained confidence a lot. They had patience and cared for me when I had blackouts. The best was getting into bed
with my hot drink and ginger biscuits, the staff got used to my routine, that I never had to ask, they listened, cared, and joked with me, and when I could leave the room with my pal the walker, it was nice sitting having my dinner etc. The cook was amazing. Activities I thoroughly enjoyed, the two ladies who run it are absolutely wonderful. I also got to get my hair cut, sadly I have hardly anything left now, but she was a lovely lady. Have to say a big thank you to the cleaners as well, and the lovely church, who came into my room and kept me company. I miss this home and would love to do a holiday there, but if it was not down to the care I had, I don't think I been at rehab. Thank you again, brilliant and home on home!

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.742)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.742) out of 10 for Orchard House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.742 for Orchard House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (252 Excellents x 5) + (71 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 330 Ratings = 4.742
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Orchard House Care Home is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
