Dad came straight from the hospital to Orchard, and they have been very good. He's picked up greatly. He's eating and drinking very well and being looked after very good. He's always given choices as to what he would like, which is good. I'm now less worried about Dad and 100% less stressed when I'm
not with him, as I know he's being looked after.

Siz years ago my 96-year-old mother went into Orchard House Care Home my father was also in Orchard House Care Home for three years until he died. Me and my family are probably well qualified to assess Orchard House Care Home and we would say it has been consistently good.
Management and staff are
always patient and kind to Mum and frequently go "the extra mile".
PArticular praise mum go to all the staff for dealing with the issue of Covid.

The care my mum has received in the time she's been there has been excellent. Also to us as a family. Since Christmas her health has deteriorated and her needs changed dramatically, and she is always made more comfortable now. All the staff are warm and friendly and update me on her condition if need
be.
Reply from Sarah Watson, General Manager at Orchard House Care HomeThank you for your kind words, I will pass your feedback onto the team. We are very happy that mum was comfortable and you were all happy with the care and support mum received.

Whilst we were visiting the resident on her birthday several staff members entered the room with cake, tea and a cheerful, friendly attitude. This was good natured and sincere, with a rousing chorus of happy birthday. It's comforting to know that our friend was looked after so well and that such places
are available to us when we need them.

Since her time at Orchard House Care Home my grandma has received such a wonderful standard of care. Her health and happiness has improved and I've been happy with the care given and pleasantly surprised by the efforts made by staff to keep my grandma (now 101) engaged with activities and supported
mentally and physically. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you for your care.

The staff were very welcoming and made sure we followed all the safeguarding procedures. They also set up a special room for us to celebrate her 101st birthday with a beautiful cake, balloons and a great crowd. They made sure we were looked after and were very helpful with any requests.

Having been independent until her 100th birthday Mum came to Orchard House Care Home as a result of a fractured thigh. She has received wonderful care and the team have treated her with kindness and dignity. She has settled in very well and as we - her family are at a distance - it is comforting to
know that she is in good hands. The team are also very welcoming when we visit.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.725)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.725) out of 10 for Orchard House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.725 for Orchard House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (270 Excellents x 5) + (86 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 363 Ratings = 4.725
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Orchard House Care Home is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
