Nice, clean, friendly care home. My wife is in respite care since surgery (NHS) and has been well looked after. The staff deserve a special mention. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they are happy in their tasks.

Orchard House is a fantastic place. All the staff are so friendly and kind. My mother has been a resident for 18-months and is definitely enjoying herself. I am kept informed of any problems or needs regularly. Mum enjoys the activities put on at Orchard House. A big thank you to all involved in looking after her.

I came for rest and nursing care from the hospital, at first, very scared. I never thought in my wildest dreams I would be in a nursing home. I was mainly a barrier most of my time there but gained confidence a lot. They had patience and cared for me when I had blackouts. The best was getting into bed with my hot drink and ginger biscuits, the staff got used to my routine, that I never had to ask, they listened, cared, and joked with me, and when I could leave the room with my pal the walker, it was nice sitting having my dinner etc. The cook was amazing. Activities I thoroughly enjoyed, the two ladies who run it are absolutely wonderful. I also got to get my hair cut, sadly I have hardly anything left now, but she was a lovely lady. Have to say a big thank you to the cleaners as well, and the lovely church, who came into my room and kept me company. I miss this home and would love to do a holiday there, but if it was not down to the care I had, I don't think I been at rehab. Thank you again, brilliant and home on home!

Fantastic home and excellent staff, my mum went to Orchard House on April 1st in a COVID bed for rest bite. Mum went in the dementia unit I couldn’t be any happier with how she has settled in and how the staff in the unit care for her. They also contact me straight away if any concerns. Mum has now become a permanent resident there and we couldn’t be any happier. I feel a weight has been lifted knowing she is safe and being so well cared for.

I came here from a ward in the hospital. The patient opposite cursed the nurses in the most unpleasant way so I was relieved to come to this respite home where I have my own room, even though there is banging on the floor above (the moving of heavy furniture and sometimes banging in the night down the corridor). I came here as recommended by the doctor, it is relatively quiet so I have requested an extra week here. The food is good here and day by day I get stronger in the legs, though the physio says 'one step at a time'.

The change in my mother-in-law in less than a week is nothing short of amazing. She has dementia and was not eating or drinking properly, not talking, not walking without assistance and just slept all day. The care she has received is exceptional. Her room is homely but functional. She eats and drinks everything. She is talking all the time, she's awake all day and walking with a stick. She truly has a new lease of life and I put it all down to the amazing care she has received at Orchard House.

I have worked in the care sector for more than 20 years and joined Orchard House in 2010. Since then, I have progressed through a number of roles, beginning as a Carer and working my way up to become General Manager.

I am passionate about supporting residents and their loved ones, ensuring each person receives compassionate, person-centred care that reflects their individual needs, choices and preferences. I am equally committed to creating a positive and supportive culture where residents and team members can thrive.

It is a privilege to lead the exceptional team at Orchard House, and I am incredibly proud of everything we have achieved together. These achievements reflect the compassion, commitment and teamwork shown by everyone at Orchard House each day. Together, we work to ensure Orchard House remains a warm, welcoming place where residents feel safe, valued and truly at home.

I am passionate about ensuring every resident receives high-quality care and is always treated with dignity, kindness and respect. I truly love my role and feel proud to be part of such a close-knit team.

Honey Berry
Honey BerryJob Title:Dementia Ambassador

I am Honey Berry, Dementia Ambassador at Orchard House Care Home in Wisbech. I began my career in care at the age of 18 and have more than 11 years’ experience supporting people living with dementia and their families.

My passion for dementia care is deeply personal. It began when I helped support my Nanny after she became unwell and grew stronger when my other Nanny was diagnosed with dementia. Experiencing her journey as a family member, particularly during the pandemic, gave me a deeper understanding of the fear, uncertainty and heartache dementia can bring.

As Dementia Ambassador, I combine professional knowledge with personal experience to support residents, families and colleagues at Orchard House. I champion person-centred dementia care by helping the team understand each resident’s history, preferences, routines and individual ways of communicating.

Whether connection comes through music, reminiscence, a familiar activity or a quiet moment together, my priority is to ensure every resident feels safe, valued and recognised as the person they have always been.

I also support families throughout their loved one’s dementia journey by listening without judgement, offering practical guidance and reassurance, and helping them remain involved in decisions about their loved one’s care.

My work has received regional and national recognition, including winning East of England awards for Dementia Carer, Care Assessor and Palliative/End of Life Care. I have also received national finalist and Highly Commended recognition and was invited to join the Dementia Care Awards judging panel for the Creative Nutrition Award.
