When I viewed the accommodation I was not fully aware of the particular needs I would have for respite care after a hip replacement. The room, especially washing and toilet were extremely difficult to use, easily coupled with no hot water did not help. The staff were friendly and helpful. The nursing
provision was good and provided for all my needs. The meals were of a variable standard but mainly good but did not take into account my apple allergy. The activities were not really for me.

Excellent bedroom, very clean and tidy. Excellent room with very nice toilet which always looks new. Restaurant food with great quality and well presented. My sister has been at the care home for some time and all aspects of her life have been keeping the high standards she has always received. The
staff are her friends always chatting to her when they pass her whilst they complete their chores. A happy and cheerful place for my sister to stay.

My mum never wanted to go into a home, however, after a fall at home in December 2022 resulted in a nine-day hospital stay and then transferring to Ashlyn Grange for the winter pressure beds her mind was changed.
She woke after he first night here and said to me it’s nice here and can she stay. That
brought up her moving in permanently.
A member of staff was extremely helpful in the transition and in my opinion has gone above and beyond for us, always there on the end of the phone if we have any questions or concerns.
Mum is really settled here and is loving life again. The stress and worry that I had about her living alone and so far away from me are now gone and now we can enjoy the time she has left with her being in comfort and knowing that there are people on site 24/7 is a huge relief for me and of course her.
She has made friends and is now no longer lonely as she had been for the past four years since my stepdad passed away.
The staff are super friendly and helpful, along with caring and supportive

Can't think that you could find a better home. Staff of Harvester are very caring and efficient. They have handled the DOLS renewal and the Continuing Care application. My Aunt is very settled and happy there. I live a long way away and I get regular updates on her condition and care requirements. My
opinion is always sought for any changes in her care. A word also for the GP, who assesses her regularly and has phoned me with information and reassurance. A fantastic place.

The staff at Harvester were excellent! The atmosphere in the unit was super, calm, serene etc. My mother was cared for in a very professional, friendly way, 100% commitment in my opinion. Couldn't have asked for more. The staff were always true to their word - if they told me something would be, it
was! I'm totally satisfied with the are provided.

I thank goodness my Mum was accepted at Hayward. The staff are very professional and so nice, it has put my mind at rest knowing she is in their care. The staff encourage her to drink which is so important that this is done, she probably wouldn't do this on her own. The food is tasty and nutritious
and she is helped with this. I would highly recommend these people.

My mother moved into Ashlynn Grange in April 22 and the staff have been very good and supportive of her settling in. Her diet isn’t great but they have always encouraged her to offer different food for her. She has to use a hoist which she really doesn’t like using but the staff are on the whole very
good at getting her into her wheelchair. Overall I’m very happy with the care mum receives. There is very good communication with the staff and myself.

I live far away so can’t see dad apart from twice a year and when I came down this time the staff were very helpful and had dad up and ready for me to take in the garden on my first visit. The ladies were very polite and helpful and stayed with dad when I left because I wouldn’t leave him in his wheelchair
just in case he fell out that was amazing that they reassured me they would stay with him. On my second visit again he was up and ready and a lady was very helpful and let us go outside in the shade even letting him have his dinner out there which was brill and she came out to check all was ok and spoke to us as a family, she was amazing. Took dad to the tea party in the afternoon and the ladies in there were fantastic and welcomed dad with smiles and laughter just what I wanted dad to be a part of as he stays in his room normally and I’m hoping their expertise has helped him think about coming out and socialising with the other residents and staff. The staff are fantastic.

I feel Mum is looked after really well. But I do feel there could be more familiar faces at weekends as there tends to be more agency staff. I do feel the regular staff are really good and some will go the extra mile to do what they can for Mum.

Dad always complains about the quality of the food, either overcooked or raw.
Delivery of the food, especially if he complains, is sometimes not replaced or served with care. I know he is set in his ways but he always used to look forward to meals. Now only breakfast is what he looks forward to. Please,
please look into the food, soggy sandwiches are not acceptable.

Sadly they let my wife down after being told by the visiting doctor to give my wife pureed food. She only received solid food. This was confirmed by a member of staff the day before she was admitted to the hospital with severe dehydration which has left her with other medical problems now. When my daughter
and I went to collect her belongings nobody said sorry in any way whatsoever. Would not recommend this care home.

My Dad has been at Ashlynn Grange for a few months now. I visit most days. The carers are wonderful. Dad loves the food. The only criticism is the staff work such long, hard hours and don't always have time to fit in everything they would like to. I know it really helps them when I assist Dad with meals
as they are often short-staffed. It would be better if the hairdresser and chiropodist came more frequently as my Dad's toenails are almost as long as his toes!

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.678)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.678) out of 10 for Ashlynn Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 57 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.678 for Ashlynn Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (480 Excellents x 5) + (153 Goods x 4) + (28 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 662 Ratings = 4.678
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashlynn Grange Care Home is based on 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 156 registered maximum number of service users is 31.2, which has been reached with 56 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
