I have always found everyone to be very kind, caring, and courteous with my mum. They explain what they are going to do if I am there and always seem to be reviewing her care as her condition changes. Mum can only eat purée food but they always present the food with care to make it look nice. It’s lovely
to chat to the carers that feed her and they tell me what she enjoys. I am always greeted with a smile no matter how busy everyone is. Thank you so much to everyone for looking after my dearest mum.
Reply from Catherine Frost, Home Manager at Ashlynn Grange Care HomeThank you Karen so much for your kind feedback and for taking the time to review Ashlynn Grange. We are delighted to hear that you are pleased with the service your Mum receives. Feedback is always appreciated and it is rewarding to have our team recognised for their commitment. I will share this valuable feedback with the team.

I find the staff very helpful, informative and pleasant. My mother says they treat her with respect and are happy to assist her as needed. Her room is very clean and bright and nicely decorated. I can't comment on the food as Mum is unable to eat a normal diet. So far both Mum and the extended family
are happy for Ashlynn Grange to be her care home.

The care home offers numerous activities for the residents to keep them positively engaged from day to day. Of course, the pandemic has restricted activities such as singing for the brain, children displaying dances and singing. Enjoying the sunshine in summer and parties. My hope that things will improve
in due course and even pampering sessions will become a regular event. Visits to the care home were a regular practice and I again hope that things will be restored.

I must reiterate that the care provided by the home is up to my expectations and I'm impressed. At the same time, a lot needs to be done in view of the lockdown that has restricted our visitations and the wellbeing of myself and my wife, who is being cared for. Well done to all considered.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.678)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.678) out of 10 for Ashlynn Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 57 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.678 for Ashlynn Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (480 Excellents x 5) + (153 Goods x 4) + (28 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 662 Ratings = 4.678
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashlynn Grange Care Home is based on 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 156 registered maximum number of service users is 31.2, which has been reached with 56 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
