I visit my mother on a regular basis and have always found the staff friendly and supportive towards my mother and they are very welcoming to me. They treat Mum with kindness and respect and are mindful of their duties to keep her safe. Visits to the care home’s website often show photographs of Mum
enjoying the activities put on by the Care Home.

My mother moved into Brooklands after a long stay in hospital. When she arrived she was very muddled and depressed. She settled in quickly and within a few weeks, both her mood and confusion have improved immeasurably. She is comfortable, content and enjoys the activities and company of other residents.
All staff members seem extremely kind and polite and show a real affection for the residents. A recent Covid outbreak made visiting more difficult but relatives were kept very well informed about the situation. Both my sister and I are confident that we made the right decision in choosing Brooklands for her.

The care that my mother receives is always high quality, delivered with respect, humour and understanding. All the staff seem to know who she is and greet her by name and with a friendly comment. Despite her disabilities she is encouraged to join in with or watch the numerous and varied activities that
are provided. I am always made very welcome when I visit. I was impressed by the commitment to staff training and development and the encouragement given to staff.

Both my father and stepmother came to live at Brooklands a few years ago. The staff have looked after them both well. They both attended a large number of activities together until the death of my father in December. The manager always had time for my father during his time at Brooklands and was very
supportive when he found life difficult. The staff were all so caring and helpful on the death of my dad and since his death have been very supportive which has made coping with my grief easier. My step mum still lives in Treetops and the staff look after her well and are very kind to her. Covid has made visiting much more difficult but this has been the case in all care homes and communication about changes to visiting protocol has always been regular.

We found Brooklands Care Home very much by pleasant surprise, during a very difficult time. They were very accommodating and able to provide a safe place for Mother at short notice.
During our visits, we've found her engaging in the numerous activities organised and enjoying her stay. The staff have
always been amazing, very welcoming and nothing seems too much trouble.
I do hope she can stay there, as she's very settled, though I understand there is no discount available when local authority take over the funding. That would be my only criticism, that a bit of flexibility to allow settled residents to remain would be welcomed.

I have been visiting friends at Brooklands for 5+ years and the manager and staff have become friends. They welcome everyone into the home, including my little dog and their care and respect to both residents and visitors, are impeccable. They have worked under so much pressure over the past year but
never has the care or morale of the staff diminished. I recommend this home to everyone I speak to. I cannot praise it enough. Thank you and well done on an amazing home.

Given the general UK Covid 19 restrictions on access to relatives in UK care homes, my contact with my father has been at a much less intimate level than pre-pandemic. Brooklands appears to be complying very closely with government guidelines, and we feel such nationwide policies may be denying our
relatives some of their basic rights in favour of a degree of protectionism particularly as most residents are now fully vaccinated.
Having said that - the Home has made every effort to allow access to my father in the Conservatory, not his own room (his preference). The Home has been very helpful and collaborative in setting up meetings but it has taken up to a week for a booking.
The most important thing to report is the initiative certain members of staff have taken to prepare for Dad's 101st birthday in early May. Whilst this will be another 'zoom event' with 2 named persons present, we are looking forward to enjoying with Dad the efforts the Home has taken to make the event special.

I am very grateful to the manager at Brooklands Care Home for her handling of the Covid-19 situation, which must have been very stressful, and to the staff for keeping my father safe and well throughout the pandemic. I have felt very safe in the environment prepared for visitors and their loved ones
and we have been kept well informed of procedures as and when they have changed.

The staff and management at Brooklands Care Home all seem very caring and willing to support with whatever mum needs.
I am not really able to comment first hand on facilities, cleanliness etc. as due to the pandemic I have not been inside the home (other than for shielded visits in the conservatory),
but there does seem to be a quite diligent approach to hygiene.

My dad was admitted for end of life care to Brooklands. Sadly, it was a much shorter stay than anticipated but I could not fault the care and attention both he, and we, received from all the staff we came in contact with. The manager should be very proud.

My father has lived in Brooklands for over 4 years and is very happy there. He is 102 yrs old now and his very words to me not so long ago were "the staff are like my family". He has been very well looked after and the staff have been so very kind to him. There is never a miserable face among the staff.
They can never do enough for you. If you visit , they will offer you tea and biscuits even though they are under pressure. They will always give you time to tell you how your loved one is doing. They have a lot of running around to do and sometimes elderly people can be quite difficult but their patience and kindness is second to none. They have done everything in their power to keep the residents and staff safe from the Covid virus. I would recommend Brooklands to anyone. I don't think you would find a nicer place.

My dad has been on Treetops at Brooklands Care Home for 9 months and I cannot praise the wonderful management, carers and all staff at this home enough. The residents and carers have such a close bond they go above and beyond to keep the residents happy and safe and loved. I would recommend this lovely
home wholeheartedly. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.799)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.799) out of 10 for Brooklands Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.799 for Brooklands Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (229 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 269 Ratings = 4.799
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brooklands Care Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
