The period character has been carefully maintained, and the architecture and grounds make for a setting that feels striking from the moment you arrive.
The edge of town position gives residents easy access to Thetford's shops and services while keeping the privacy of the mansion grounds, and the walled garden is a particular draw through the seasons, offering genuine space for walking and sitting outdoors.
Ford Place provides residential, nursing and dementia care, alongside a specialist service for adults under 65 living with complex or progressive conditions. A resident's care can flex as their needs change, without the disruption of a move to another home.
Accommodation is available across en-suite suites within the listed mansion, all of which can be personalised. Bedrooms and communal areas feel generously proportioned, and the grounds form a natural extension of daily life through the year.
Meals are freshly prepared on site each day by the home's chef, with menus built around individual dietary needs and preferences. A GP visits regularly. Chiropodist, optician and dental appointments can be arranged by the team as and when required. A hairdresser also visits the home weekly.
A varied programme of activities runs through the week, from creative sessions and gentle exercise to social events, quizzes and one to one time, planned around residents' interests and needs.

I had three days in the home and found it to be clean, comfortable with the staff they were most accommodating. In fact I will readily go there again should the need arise.

My father was able to return to independent living after 3 months of their support while he went through chemotherapy at the age of 79. His circumstances didn't make him a typical resident so it is hard to review some categories: Food (taste and appetite not good), Activities and Facilities (generally he just wanted to rest but enjoyed the open day and met with relatives in the conservatory). Will consider for the future if necessary. Thank you.
