The care and dedication shown to my relative, by all the staff is second to none. Her life has been transformed in a very short time. The room is small for the amount of equipment needed to safely carry out her care but the staff make it work for them and my relative.

Small rooms you can live with, exceptional staff are the cornerstone of what makes this Holmwood a home from home. I would have no hesitation in recommending this nursing home.

I can't thank the wonderful staff enough for the amazing care they give my Mum. They are kind, caring, and always treat her with dignity and respect. She is getting involved in activities and enjoys the animal visits. It gives me real peace of mind knowing she's so well looked after.

All staff seem lovely and appear to have a good relationship and attitude towards residents, stopping to chat whenever possible. I have noticed that carers are not now as vigilant with my father's clothes - dressing him in shirts with buttons missing, underwear with no elastic and socks with large holes. Also his main chair was soiled (by another resident) and he was left for several days to sit on the chair springs while the cushion was cleaned. No extra cushions or replacement chair was provided.

Fantastic care home, everything in the home is spot on. The care, all staff gave to my dad was 100% we couldn't ask for better, from the managers, care team, cleaning and kitchen. We will always be grateful that you made his last few months so comfortable and happy.

My mother had a fall and broke her hip, although she is getting her movement back it became clear that she needed the support of a care home. I viewed Holmwood House with my mother in law who has years of experience in care for the elderly and my son's partner, a nurse. It was clear to all of us that this was the place for my mother. The professionalism of the staff, the atmosphere and facilities made it the obvious choice. My mother has settled in well and enjoys the activities with the friendly staff, and is well looked after as she deserves.

We are very pleased with the care our mum receives from all the wonderful staff. However, due to the circumstances, it is sometimes very difficult for ourselves, our mum and the staff. We moved our mum approx 11 months ago and are very pleased we did.

My mother was in the EMI ward at Holmwood House for almost 2 years.
She was exceptionally well cared for throughout her stay. I visited her regularly, at differing times, and she was always, clean, beautifully dressed, her hair was brushed and styled in different ways -- which she always loved.
In all my time visiting I saw only genuine care and tenderness from the staff towards the residents.
My mum was without a doubt happy and made many good friends amongst the other staff and residents while she was there.
She died peacefully and with dignity, surrounded by the staff who cared for her and her friends she had made there. We couldn't ask for more for her.
We hear so many awful stories about care homes, I feel it's extremely important to share the excellent stories of care, to highlight the staff who make the residents lives full of love, support and fun, and to take away the fear that many people have of what a care home is.

Holmwood House is an excellent - as are the amazing staff

My wife has been a resident in Holmwood House for 9 months. She has received excellent care from a dedicated team of carers. The home also organises various activities in order to stimulate the residents. These include visits with owls, donkeys and musical events. The food is of good quality and looks very appetising. The main thing is that she is happy and settled.

Overall I am very satisfied with the care my husband is receiving from the care assistants and the nursing staff at Holmwood House. He is happy in his self and doesn't seem to be agitated or distressed. One thing that does cause him to become agitated is having to wait to be taken to the toilet, as he is not mobile thisis sometimes a problem, this is the only complaint I have.

My mum has been a resident at the home since July 2024. She had a very warm welcome, and it has been the same since. All the staff show a lot of kindness towards the residents, and always friendly towards me when I am visiting, I feel happy that my mum is in good hands. I try and join in the activities when I can, and they are always a lot of fun. The staff are always keeping me up to date with my mum's health and let me know if they have any concerns. I feel confident that my mum is in the best hands when I am unbale to see her as I work away during the week. My mum has become better in herself since being in the home as she is surrounded by people all day and is involved with activities that keeps her mind active. I truly can recommend this home.

Overall generally satisified with the care provided for my godmother. Unfortunateley the lady concerned (who is 99 years old} chooses not to interact socially with other residents. Neither will she accept either a TV or radio in her room.

Having started with respite care my wife is now in full residential care as her dementia progresses. I had no hesitation in choosing Holmwood House as her new home. It is good to know she is content and well cared for. I regularly visit and always have a warm welcome to what feels like a large family. The staff keep me well informed of my wife's condition and her needs either in person or by phone. There are regular activities to keep residents entertained and active.

From living a distance away I am always grateful

To be able to speak with a person who knows my mother and can give up to date information on her. The staff when I do manage to visit are helpful and friendly. Any requests I do have at the time of visit are implemented and I am very happy with the whole system of running Holmewood Swaffham

Charlene Waldron
Charlene WaldronJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2020

I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 2003 and became the Home Manager at Holmwood House.

Before my training, I worked in nursing and residential homes as a care worker, and as a student nurse did placements in the community care homes. I always loved the ‘homely’ feel of working in care homes rather than the clinical environments of hospitals, and that’s why I pursued a career in nursing in social care.

Since qualifying, I have been lucky enough to work in lots of outstanding care homes that specialise in palliative care, young adults with head injuries, MS and care of the elderly.

Being a nurse has enabled me to travel and visit different places in the UK, have a varied role, and continuously learn new skills. It has enabled me to learn how to communicate with people and care for them. I have been involved in numerous projects and pilots throughout my career, and am lucky enough to win ‘best nursing care’ in the UK care home awards.

I am a big advocate for Nursing in Social Care and have recently been involved in the teaching and learning in care homes project at Holmwood House, and currently a member of the Social Care Nursing Advisory Council for the East of England region and involved in the ‘This Nurse Can campaign at UEA.

Molly Harris
Molly HarrisJob Title:Deputy Manager

Molly qualified as a nurse 21 years ago, fulfilling a lifelong ambition. Though initially planning to become a general nurse, she chose to specialise in mental health nursing – a decision that has shaped her career ever since.

She began working in forensic units, thriving in high-pressure settings and supporting individuals with challenging behaviours. Later, she transitioned into social care, where she discovered a passion for dementia support.

Molly has held senior roles, including Clinical Lead Nurse and Deputy Manager in a care home for residents with complex neurological needs. Her depth of experience and person-centred approach led her to join the nursing and management team at Holmwood House.

Outside of work, Molly enjoys time with her family and puppy, tending her allotment, and attending music festivals.

Proud to be a nurse, she feels privileged to support individuals living with dementia, delivering care that is compassionate, meaningful, and truly person-centred.
