Chilton Meadows offers residential, nursing and dementia care. It also offers a space for people to rest, relax and recover after an operation or illness with short stays too. Short stays can be booked in advance of your stay, get in touch for more information.

It's a bright, spacious home, situated in a rural location on the edge of the historic market town of Stowmarket, where staff take great care to focus on the person. It’s important for residents to feel at home, so they create a friendly environment with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence.

Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients. Soon after a resident arrives at Chilton Meadows, staff discuss personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

There’s a real sense of community at Chilton Meadows. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. So whether the resident already has a hobby or would like to take up a new one, there are lots of exciting activities to get involved in.

Staff love getting to know residents and there’s never a dull moment. The care home puts on lots of activities that everyone can join in with and the activities are just as much fun for staff as it is for residents.

The unit staff are wonderful and despite being clearly stretched, do everything they can to make Mum happy and comfortable.
However, extremely disappointed with the lack of engagement from the senior management which has been non-existent the whole of 2022.
Reply from David Mclean, Customer Service Adviser at Chilton Meadows Care HomeThank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that your Mum is happy with our care. I will certainly pass your messages on to the Senior Management Team to make them aware of your comments.

There is always a good atmosphere at Chilton Meadows Care Home, my mum has been in Munnings House for nearly eighteen months with advanced Alzheimer’s. The staff are always caring and respectful to Mum. Communication is great, always contacting me if necessary regarding Mum's care. The food is fabulous
and Mum eats very well. Mum appears very happy here and responds well to staff. She likes to sit in the office and the staff are happy to let her. I’m really happy with Mum's care, especially during Covid, the home made good decisions about visiting and I always got to see Mum. They coped well during very difficult days and I appreciate that I was able to see Mum. I would recommend this care home.
Reply from Amanda Barnes, Customer Service Adviser at Chilton Meadows Care HomeWe appreciate you taking the time to leave us your comments. It is lovely to hear that you are happy with the care your mum is given in Chilton Meadows. It is nice to hear that your mum eats well and enjoys our food. Thank you for your recommendation.

My dad was at Chilton Meadows Care Home, Munnings House for the past two years. He had Alzheimer's and I was pleased with the levels of care and attention he received. He was always well kept, enjoyed the food and in good spirits. The consistent communication between the care manager, patient and family
members was very helpful. Staff went above and beyond to make sure Dad had everything he needed and kept us informed, especially throughout lockdown when we couldn't enter the home. He has unfortunately passed away now but staff couldn't do enough to help. He was very settled, made comfortable and passed away with dignity. Thank you to all the Munnings House staff and manager.

My mum has been at Chilton Meadows Care Home for just over four years.
Overall, I am happy with the care that she receives. She is at her happiest when she is in the communal room with other residents.
She likes to take part in some of the activities.
The staff are lovely and have become like extended
family!

Sadly my mother has just passed away after receiving five months of care which we could never repay! Care staff were caring and professional - and compassionate at end of life. Rooms were always spotlessly clean and the food served was always of a high standard. There was a varied activities programme
for those who wished to be involved. Would recommend.

The organisation is obviously not a charity. The way Chilton Meadows Care Home is perceived by the public is of paramount significance to Bupa. So saying the staff are tremendous and do their best regardless of any internal/external influences. The financial constraints are bound to limit the extent
to which activities can reach but I think the range could be improved. Not all residents want to watch TV, feed and sleep all day - but sadly that is what most do. You will know if that is normal.
Reply from Alison Horridge, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at Chilton Meadows Care HomeThank you for your feedback. I will certainly pass your comments on to our activities team and see what they can arrange that you may enjoy taking part in. Since last coming to Chilton Meadows, I am really impressed. It's lovely to see caring staff, it's clean, and I know people will say it smells, but that is if someone had an accident. They cannot help this as long as it's cleaned and sorted, which I could not find fault. Where I visit, I know they are
lovely carers and clothes are changed regularly. They have got the Covid routine sorted very well. It works and happy to visit.

Although it has been a very difficult time seeing my father go into a care home at the beginning of Covid, my family and I have been very happy with the care that my father receives. He has been in Beech House at Chiltern Meadows care home for just over the past 10 months through some very uncertain
times which has meant we have been unable to visit him as we usually would. However, the carers and activities team have ensured we have as much contact as possible via Zoom or Window visits. I feel the staff always give us time with compassion, empathy, kindness and professionalism. There have been many tears and concerns, but we always feel we are listened to and our views and questions heard and answered. Everyone is kind and patient with my father who has vascular dementia and I wouldn't want him at any other care home other than Chiltern Meadows. Thank you to the team for everything you do and hopefully soon we will all be reunited and I can have a cuddle and a dance with Dad soon.

My partner received excellent care, carried out in a truly caring manner at Chilton Meadows Care Home. The staff were always helpful, friendly and welcoming, even when they were tired after a long shift. They looked after me as well as they did my partner. The staff showed extraordinary kindness, at

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.471)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.471) out of 10 for Chilton Meadows Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.704 for Chilton Meadows Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (172 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 226 Ratings = 4.704
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.767 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chilton Meadows Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 120 registered maximum number of service users is 24. 19 Positive Reviews ÷ 24 = 0.792
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
