It was my husband's 80th birthday, and the home provided us with a lovely buffet for our family gathering. Chef also made a lovely birthday cake. It helped to make my husband's birthday a day to remember. A good time was had by all.

Moving Mum to a care home from the hospital was a traumatic experience for our family, especially as she has been used to one-to-one live-in care at her own home previously. We need not have worried! The staff and management at Aldringham Court made us all welcome and did the utmost to ensure Mum settled
in quickly. During Mum's eight months at Aldringham Court, she was always treated with care and respect, ensuring her wishes were seen to and her dignity preserved. The home and grounds were well maintained, the choice of food and drink was excellent, and the overall care and attention Mum received was excellent.

I feel Aldringham Court is very much better now. Staff are friendly, make Mum smile when she feels a bit down and are very helpful when asked to help get her ready to get her into her wheelchair to go round the garden.

Found the care home clean but found the care very poor especially as it was end-of-life. My dad's care book was not filed in for hours, so was there anyone going in to see him? His personal care was not good. Dirty cups left overnight and food. The home lost our contact details. There seemed no organisation.
Went to collect my dad's things and the staff didn't know he had passed away. Just think he was a room number, not a dad.

Some of the observations such as food charts become irrelevant and the team concentrate on making dad comfortable with pain well managed. This does not mean that he was left without checks. I said I wouldn't write this review but the nurse called the police on me today while we (me, my brother, and his girlfriend) visited the home. I am now scared for mum's welfare and well-being at Aldringham care home. The staff is getting extremely defensive, a clear indication they're out of their
depth!
My brother called the home this morning and asked them to take mum out of the bed so we can take her outside. I last took her outside for some fresh air a week ago last Saturday, considering mum is locked away in her room 99% of the time, they just turned up at the care home and they were told they're not allowed to take mum outside and they have to stay in the lounge. I went in after and asked them why they are not allowed to take mum outside today but they didn't answer. I asked who gave mum breakfast, again no answer. Whoever gave it to her didn't wipe her mouth after, so she had dried food around her mouth.

My only complaint has been a lack of communication, but this has improved since the appointment of the new manager. I am not really in a position to comment on options, as I am not allowed in due to Covid. My husband makes complaints, but always had done, and some may be attributed to his condition.

After an initial period of respite care in the home, my mother deteriorated when back home and the staff were incredibly helpful in arranging a speedy readmission. The response to her immediate care needs provided my mother with relief from some of her symptoms. Staff are approachable and are handling
the extra work that COVID precautions entail, with a smile. Knowing that my mother is being well cared for at this difficult time, provides me with peace of mind.

My mum was very ill in hospital and wasn’t able to go home but needed respite in a nursing home, my mum cried and didn’t want to go into a nursing home at all, but finally agreed after a lot of talking and the reassurance she would go back to her own home after having respite. When I mentioned Aldringham
Court mum agreed as she is from Leiston so thought she may know some of the staff and other residents, from the first day of mum being in the home she settled in very well and the staff were fantastic and made mum feel at home. Mum made great progress with the encouragement of the staff and after a couple of months decided she didn’t want to go back home she wanted Aldringham Court to be her home now, this has made my life so much easier as I know my mum is safe and being very well looked after. Speaking to mum on the phone regularly she is always happy and content. I couldn’t be happier with mum's progress.

Working at my home for just 5 days, I swiftly felt part of the Team. The building's quirkiness and the warm atmosphere of residents, families, and staff resonate with me.


Enriching residents' lives means ensuring safety, optimal care, engaging activities, and high-quality life. Trained Nurse from the Philippines, 18 years in England, diverse roles, completed Level 5 Leadership and Management in March 2014, and extensive relevant training.

Elaine really enjoys working with the elderly, she finds it so rewarding and loves her role.
Prior to working at Healthcare Homes, Elaine was an Activities/Health Care Assistant.
Elaine believes you need to be kind, compassionate and understanding, to have a good understanding of dementia and the needs of the very ill and frail and to have an understanding of equality and diversity.
The favourite part of her working day is going to the resident’s rooms for one-to-one talks and also enjoys organising entertainment and watching and taking part.
Elaine's biggest professional challenge was changing from her carer role to activities and her biggest career highlight is getting the home ready for Christmas and organising events for the residents.
