Aldringham Court provides excellent care in a lovely setting near Aldeburgh, known for its connection to Benjamin Britten and the well-known Aldeburgh Music Festival. Only two miles from the Suffolk Heritage Coast, residents can enjoy regular trips to the seaside.

As well as long-term care, Aldringham Court also offers respite care, giving people the chance to stay for a short time if they need extra support or if their carers need a break. This service offers reassurance, knowing that relatives are looked after in a caring and safe environment.

The home offers a calm and peaceful setting but also encourages involvement with the local community, with events such as a Summer Fete and Christmas Party bringing everyone together.

The unique building is set within three acres of well-kept gardens and woodland, with plenty of wildlife like doves, pheasants, and even muntjac deer. The rooms are spacious, many with en-suite bathrooms, garden views, and terraces. Each room has a nurse call system, and residents can bring their furniture to make it feel like home.

Aldringham Court offers a variety of activities each week, with something for everyone to enjoy. The home is visited regularly by a hairdresser, chiropodist, physiotherapist, and local clergy. The catering team serves multiple choices of fresh, tasty meals daily, and special diets are always accommodated.

My aunt was very content here. The staff are very kind and helpful. When they have time they spend time having a chat with residents. When you visit, they have time for you as well.

We were grateful to Aldringham Court for caring for our mum (age 94) for 2 weeks' respite after 3 weeks in hospital. The manager was lovely - exceedingly person-centered and has plans for improving facilities and gardens. The staff were polite, kind and respectful.
Nice building and lovely furnishings.
I would like to hope that all the manager's plans for a family room, a better minibus, nice gardens etc all come to fruition.
I thought some of the staff needed more leadership - some were new and lacked confidence. I was not sure who everybody was and their different roles.

I found the home a very friendly experience. Everyone was most friendly and conjured up a family experience with people most friendly to each other. Cleanliness was to the fore. The manager was most accommodating and helped me in all my queries.

As a family, we have been very pleased with the care that Mum has received at Aldringham Court.
The staff have been very attentive and we cannot praise the manager enough. The home is kept spotlessly clean and food has been very good indeed. All in all, we would give the home, staff and manager 10/10.

Beyond my wildest expectations. I'd never have thought my father could progress so far so fast and it's all down to the dedication and understanding shown by the whole team at Aldringham. His physical and mental strength is now unrecognisable from the frightened, depressed and anxious man that arrived
just a few weeks ago. I'm so grateful his quality of life has been returned to him.

Over seven years, my husband has been once a year for two weeks of respite to give me a break. As soon as I arrived with my husband to show him around the nursing home, I was so impressed with how we were received. Staff were excellent, could not do enough, we were taken "everywhere". A lovely home,
my family visited my husband while I was away and all said staff fell over themselves to help and care for him. I know he enjoyed it by what my family saw, he played me up so I know staff had a hard time with him. I would love to have my husband in Aldringham Court in June.

I could not ask for better care for my mother it was hard enough to accept she could not stay at home but the only thing that eases that is the fact she is here, it is wonderful, they are all so friendly and always have time to discuss any queries I have. Thank you to everyone

It was my husband's 80th birthday, and the home provided us with a lovely buffet for our family gathering. Chef also made a lovely birthday cake. It helped to make my husband's birthday a day to remember. A good time was had by all.

Moving Mum to a care home from the hospital was a traumatic experience for our family, especially as she has been used to one-to-one live-in care at her own home previously. We need not have worried! The staff and management at Aldringham Court made us all welcome and did the utmost to ensure Mum settled
in quickly. During Mum's eight months at Aldringham Court, she was always treated with care and respect, ensuring her wishes were seen to and her dignity preserved. The home and grounds were well maintained, the choice of food and drink was excellent, and the overall care and attention Mum received was excellent.

Found the care home clean but found the care very poor especially as it was end-of-life. My dad's care book was not filed in for hours, so was there anyone going in to see him? His personal care was not good. Dirty cups left overnight and food. The home lost our contact details. There seemed no organisation.
Went to collect my dad's things and the staff didn't know he had passed away. Just think he was a room number, not a dad.
Reply from Riet Jones, National Operations Manager at Aldringham CourtFirst of all our sincere condolences on the loss of your father.
Thank you for taking the time in reviewing our home as we take great care in listening to what our customers say. I am very sorry to read your feelings towards a hard-working team, wanting to do the best for our residents. when residents reach their end of life, as your father did. Some of the observations such as food charts become irrelevant and the team concentrate on making dad comfortable with pain well managed. This does not mean that he was left without checks. However, I understand that this could have been communicated better and my apologies for the lack of support you felt from the management team. I have shared your comments with the team for lessons to be learned. Once again thank you for your time.

I said I wouldn't write this review but the nurse called the police on me today while we (me, my brother, and his girlfriend) visited the home. I am now scared for mum's welfare and well-being at Aldringham care home. The staff is getting extremely defensive, a clear indication they're out of their
depth!
My brother called the home this morning and asked them to take mum out of the bed so we can take her outside. I last took her outside for some fresh air a week ago last Saturday, considering mum is locked away in her room 99% of the time, they just turned up at the care home and they were told they're not allowed to take mum outside and they have to stay in the lounge. I went in after and asked them why they are not allowed to take mum outside today but they didn't answer. I asked who gave mum breakfast, again no answer. Whoever gave it to her didn't wipe her mouth after, so she had dried food around her mouth.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.648)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.648) out of 10 for Aldringham Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.648 for Aldringham Court is calculated as follows: ( (324 Excellents x 5) + (104 Goods x 4) + (24 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 454 Ratings = 4.648
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Aldringham Court is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
