I was very apprehensive about committing to living the rest of my life in a care home, having read many varying reviews of them. However, Barchester Bloomfield Care Home is certainly a home-from-home in all respects. There is an excellent, varied menu and the meals are tasty and well-cooked. The staff
are all very friendly and always ready to help. Assistance is never far away with the individual call bell. My room is a good size and I have some of my own furniture. The home is well-maintained and is always very clean. There is a weekly programme of activities which is varied to suit all interests.
Overall, after only a short while, I feel happy and well cared for in my new home.

We visited our nan for her 100th birthday and the staff were very helpful as always. They had prepared a lovely room with banners and large helium 1, 0, 0 balloons, along with food and drink. It made the day so special and enjoyable for all.

I'm so happy with the care my mother has been given since she arrived at Bloomfield Care Home, the manager and all staff members have been so kind helpful I cannot thank them enough, at my mother's last home she was left in her room all day every day and was just giving up on her life, now she has reason
to live and I can see such a change in her, there are so many activities she can take part in and she is so much happier now.

Having transferred to Barchester Bloomfield Care Home (93 years) from a nursing home, my mother has been well cared for and her diet has vastly improved due to the time taken to help her with her meals and fluids. She has gained weight from the encouragement, having lost an awful lot of weight prior
to being moved here. The management, team of carers, even the receptionist have all proved helpful, informative and caring. Due to living in another country (Ireland), I have peace of mind she is being looked after by caring and experienced people.

Staff were very friendly and caring and involved in the resident's care. All information regarding residents were passed on to staff members involved in their care. Staff kept relatives up to date with any issues and dealt with anything raised by family and fed back to family as well. Very happy with
the care given and the welcoming atmosphere. Staff were happy and always said hello on visits. Food seemed very good with options offered. Activities on offer and were varied if clients wanted them.

I wanted to leave a review for the excellent care my dad received from all the care staff and nurses within the home. They were always so helpful and really showed that they cared for him and helped me when I needed support to understand why dad needed so much care. The management team was very good
at explaining everything to me and gave me and my brother time with dad before he passed away. I would recommend Bloomfield to anyone who requires a care home. Thank you to everyone at Bloomfield.

We visited the home for Mum as a family. It felt right from the moment we arrived. We were welcomed by a very cheerful receptionist who offered us a drink in their really welcoming cafe area. We went into the manager's office, who told us all about her home. She exhibited great attention to detail and
allowed us to ask questions.
We were then shown around the home. All staff greeted us with a smile, and more importantly, they had a good relationship with the manager. We could pick up that they respected her.
There were lots of staff everywhere.
The home was really up together, no malodours anywhere.
The bedrooms, although small, were clean with well-cared-for furniture.
Mum was then admitted this week after a very stressful period in hospital, and the detail all staff have gone into is tremendous. She saw the GP on her first full day, and we signed and assisted in the completion of risk assessments and her care plans and met with all key staff.
Mum is happy. She says the staff are kind and care well.

When Dad first moved into Barchester Bloomfield Care Home back in April. He was very happy there. He loved doing all the activities and got a lot out of them. He enjoyed the food. Most of the team on Ashway were absolutely fantastic in his last few days before Dad passed away. The unit manager and the
staff were so professional in how they handled Dad and how they spoke to us. They kept us up to date on what was happening which was very comforting at the time. I would recommend Bloomfield to anyone. Thank you to you all.

I cannot find any faults with the way Mum has been treated. From the friendly and caring admin staff right through to the nursing staff, Mum has always been treated with respect and dignity to a high standard. The food is freshly prepared and appetising. The reception is light and airy and immediately
makes one feel welcome, always tea and coffee and delicious cakes. Rooms are comfortable, and bright and all areas are spotlessly clean. Nothing is too much trouble for the carers and nursing staff. Mum feels safe and is enjoying every day; she is now more animated and no longer lonely, which is all we as a family could ask for.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.843)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.843) out of 10 for Barchester Bloomfield Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.843 for Barchester Bloomfield Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (334 Excellents x 5) + (49 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 389 Ratings = 4.843
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Bloomfield Care Home is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 102 registered maximum number of service users is 20.4, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I joined Bloomfield in December 2025 and have really enjoyed becoming part of the team.
