Our Deputy Home Manager Marina qualified as a nurse in Croatia in 2002, moved to the social care sector in 2015, before joining Hartcliffe in 2022. What makes Hartcliffe special for Marina is the home's compassion for its residents, especially when it comes to end-of-life care. A yoga regular, Marina enjoys going to the gym and spending time with her family.
Bob has lived in Hartcliffe suburb all his life and was a self-employed paint refinisher for years before coming to the home in 2016. Now Bob is the go-to person for all maintenance and gardening in and outside the home. His favourite memories of Hartcliffe are the many parties that have been held here. Bob even hand-built the outdoor Willow Bar which was officially opened for the home's 25th anniversary celebration in 2025.

Tracey's grandfather was a Hartcliffe resident, so she knew it was a loving and compassionate home before she joined in 2017 as a carer. She later became one of the home's Activities Co-ordinators in 2022 and is part of a team responsible for planning and delivering a fun, engaging and meaningful schedule that all residents can enjoy. Chris was a part of Hartcliffe before it even opened! Having trained as a chef before becoming a hotel manager, Chris has worked in hospitality for over 40 years and helped shape the design of Hartcliffe. Originally from Wales, he still enjoys cooking and baking, as well as taking long walks and spending time with his beloved cat.
Chris said: “I can't believe it's been 25 years since I joined, especially as it was only meant to be a stopgap, as I had just moved to Bristol. To be honest, I got addicted to the job, the residents, their family members and the staff have kept me here. In all my 25 years I have worked here, I always work Christmas Day. For me it's important to spend such a special day with our residents, as for some it may be their last. It's by far the longest time I have spent in a job, and I am so happy I have spent it at MHA Hartcliffe.
"Working for an organisation like MHA, I do feel they appreciate all their staff members, and you are treated as a person and not a number. I know lots of people who work in care, but it's nothing like working for MHA. I'm at that stage in my life where If I want I can retire, but I enjoy my job so much that I can't even think about retiring or moving on. A lot of the staff joke and say that they will see me here as a resident one day!.”
