Elm View Care Home

Sometimes procedures for writing up care duties are not carried out consistently and sometimes the regime for care (movement, bed turning etc) slides. Sometimes also comments in the records regarding our mum's understanding of her surroundings, of what is happening to her, or said to her, are very misleading (by being too optimistic, crediting her with more awareness than she has), but they are the only negatives.

The staff are always there to help.

Since my mother-in-law has been admitted she has over the years been well cared for. She has been happy and now as she is in extremely poor health even more cared for. As I live some 2 hundred miles distance I have been kept aware of both her and the general situation by the staff on a regular basis.

For the last two years I have seen the love and care that has been shown to my wife. I cannot praise the home and the staff highly enough.

My uncle was a resident for nearly 3 years. The staff have always been amazing with him going above and beyond to make him happy and settled. Sadly he recently passed away. It was so difficult for us all because of Lockdown, however, the staff have been fantastic, phoning us and making sure he got to speak to us regularly. It was a massive comfort to know that other people who loved and cared for him as we did were with him at the end of his life.

My mother has been a resident at Elm View for almost 4 years, she has always been very happy there. The staff are more like family. She takes part in all of the activities some have even been created for her. The choir which she was asked to help run has been a success, not just for her but the other residents and staff. We have recommended this home to many people.

I know that both my mum and mum-in-law are in the best of places - sheltered from harm and cared for by devoted, loyal and cheerful carers.

As my husband has dementia, I, as his wife and carer, can confirm that my husband had a very happy 11 nights stay at Elm View. He praised the caring and loving attitude towards him. Due to his illness, he did not remember many details except the kindness of the staff and the excellent chef who, obviously, produced food which he loved.

I stayed at Elm View for a week of respite care. Without exception, the staff treated me with friendly respect and consideration. Quite apart from aspects of care, such as nursing and food, they even offered me their technical expertise so that I was able to take advantage of the Wi-Fi connection and enjoy some of the entertainment available from the internet.

I shall have no hesitation in recommending Elm View to any of my friends who may be looking for that little bit of extra TLC.

My main complaint is that despite requests I was unable to receive communion during my 3 week stay. I feel this a distinct weakness on the part of the home. I was assured before I left hospital that a priest visited regularly. (Once a year?) It also took 2 weeks plus before I was given the correct code to access Wi-Fi with family in Australia. Internet access is important to me.

I went to Elm View Care Home for convalescence after my discharge from hospital. My 10 days in Elm View Care Home, I was looked after very well. The staff were very kind and caring. All the meals excellent. All the care gave me a good start to return home.

My Mother who is 91, was taken ill and spent a week in hospital. She had to be discharged to a home, not back to her flat. Staff were conscientious, friendly and helpful. They have taken great pains to integrate her into the community. The nursing staff have also been very active and successful in organising GP's to control pain and other medical issues. Also good support and clarity from admin staff.

From the time my mother checked in until the time she checked out, the whole experience was very good. The quality of care is of high standard. The food was very tasty, staff friendly, happy and polite. Elm View itself was clean and tidy,

Beautiful room, large well equipped and very clean. Staff are extremely helpful and very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The food is also good. Would not hesitate to recommend this home.

A delightful small care/nursing home. Excellent care. Considerate and supportive to resident and family.

I left the hospital on the 5th January and moved to Elm View until the 12th January. The staff and carers treated me with utmost kindness and courtesy. Medically, I was cared for efficiently with staff patiently explaining all the steps to recovery. I would have no hesitation in returning to Elm View and recommending the staff and home to my friends.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Elm View for nearly [two/five] years, having been admitted for palliative care. The support and care she receives from all staff, on a daily basis, demonstrates true professionalism, real care and concern as well as a genuine interest in how she is. Should she require a doctor, she sees her within that day. Her medical needs are met, as well as her social and emotional ones. She loves the activities provided and looks forward to meeting with the other residents. A fantastic job by all.

I have visited friends and relatives at the home for the last 4 years and am aware that the unit has struggled with staffing and other issues. However on my visit on 11th April I met my friend/patient in the day room. I was struck by the large number of staff about, creating a lively discussion group for the patients, and assistance for those too ill to help themselves.
