Summer Lane Care & Nursing Home

I am on the understanding that the home is now on lockdown due to the current UK circumstances, whilst it is upsetting for myself and two other sisters that we cannot visit mum, I applaud you for doing this to keep our mum and other residents safe. We find Summer Lane a very good place for Mum to be as she is well cared for and she loves the food. The staff are very friendly and the home is lovely and clean. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them - this includes the ladies that bring round the teas. Please keep all the residents safe at this unsettled time for everyone; including all the staff.

Plenty of hot drinks are always offered and the facilities are very good indeed. My mother-in-law is quite fussy, and she's very happy indeed!

The home is always welcoming with friendly staff. Dads room is always clean and fresh and the staff all refer to him by name. Any queries are addressed quickly. My only criticism is that personal care possessions should not be used on other residents i.e electric razors this has happened a few times with my father's razor which we have had to go and find it. Apart from this all ok.

My father has been a resident at Summer Lane since 2017 and enjoys living there. Due to the nature of his condition, he initially had difficulty settling into his new surroundings, however, the staff were extremely supportive of him and worked patiently to minimise his distress. Two years later and Dad is very settled there, has a great relationship with the staff and carers and happily sees it as his home.

The care given to our mother when she was a resident was excellent. Very comfortable rooms. We have no problems with recommending Summer Lane Nursing Home.

I have been coming here for a very long time to visit my husband. It is a very nice place and my husband is very happy here, If he is happy then so am I. The carers are all nice and friendly and know their jobs. I don't think there is much more to say about it.

My husband has been a resident at Summer Lane for just over 1 year. I have been happy with the care he receives and have recommended it to several people. If ever there is something that concerns me I know I can approach the staff and they will sort it quickly. The monthly meetings for family members are excellent.

Lovely place, well maintained and excellent food. The rooms are good and spacious. The staff available do their best but for the size of the home and the number of residents, I do not think that enough hands-on carers are available. There seems to be more paperwork than caring and sometimes due to holiday, illness, etc. there is no replacement for activities and so residents are left in the lounge with just the television.

My mother is very happy to be here which makes me happy. The management and staff are lovely.

The care staff are wonderful and they look after my dad really well. I cannot fault them.

My sister is happy which helped us as a family and the staff are helpful if we do need any information. So thank you all at Summer Lane.

Lovely homely feeling, dad calls it home. It is his home from home.

Each member of staff looked after and cared for my father in an extremely comforting, friendly and professional manner.

He is very glad that he came here, it is always kept clean and tidy, they look after him very well.

Upon visiting we were impressed from the moment we entered, by the reception staff, the trained nurses and care assistants. Their professionalism and caring attitude towards residents, and also relatives, convinced us we had made the right decision. A relative, a GP, who visited said he had never seen a better home.

No faults at all.

With 7 day a week coverage, activities and entertainment are well catered for any resident, with encouragement to take part.

Management contact in regards to admin, I have little contact with the house, only by telephone to accounts office. The food is good and dad enjoys his meals, plenty to eat and drink and always available in the room or tea room on the floor.

An emergency temporary placement where Mum was treated with care, consideration and dignity. She made much progress physically and emotionally. Medication well managed. Excellent activity facilitator who bonded well with my mother. Welcoming and reassuring receptionist. Mum enjoyed the food.

Mum was taken into Summer Lane for respite care when my dad was admitted to hospital. Mum has late-stage Parkinson's and I cannot praise the whole team there highly enough. They are wonderful. From the people who care for her on a daily basis, treating her with dignity and respect and keeping her comfortable, the nursing staff who ensure she gets her medication when she needs it and picking up on any additional conditions which need attention; the facilities team who look after maintenance to a really high standard; the laundry and the catering colleagues; right through to the front of house team who are exceptionally welcoming, efficient and friendly.
