Summer Lane is a 120 bed purpose-built care home with an excellent reputation, providing elderly care for a range of needs.

The home has dedicated wings specialising in nursing care, dementia care and for general residential care. With 24-hour nurses on-site and top of the range facilities, the home is well-placed to deliver high standards of care in Weston-Super-Mare and surrounding areas. Residents enjoy a range of lounges and dining areas as well as café, hair dressing salon and outdoor seating areas.

Summer Lane Residential and Nursing Home became part of the award winning Country Court Care Group in June 2013. The home has good links with the local community and residents enjoy regular trips out and benefit from visits from community groups, churches and schools. A full range of activities based on their individual preferences provides residents with meaningful opportunities on a daily basis. Daily activities include light exercise, games, quizzes, baking, gardening and crafts.

When looking for nursing/care home for my brother in law, I and my wife drew up a short list of three homes to visit. Without a doubt, this home far exceeded our expectations. On our initial visit we were met by a senior nurse who explained in detail what care they could provide, the activities undertaken
and showed us the room that he would occupy. The room was on an upper floor with far reaching views and provided with an adjustable bed and air mattress, en-suite bathroom, television and modern furniture, all of which was in immaculate condition. Observing the care that was being provided and the respect being shown to residents we had no doubts that this was the one.
Upon visiting we were impressed from the moment we entered, by the reception staff, the trained nurses and care assistants. Their professionalism and caring attitude towards residents, and also relatives, convinced us we had made the right decision. A relative, a GP, who visited said he had never seen a better home.

We were recommended Summer Lane by staff at another home. My son and I have been very pleased with the level of all-round care given. The entire building is very clean with plenty of window light and decorating maintenance is certainly an ongoing activity.
With 7 day a week coverage, activities and
entertainment are well catered for any resident, with encouragement to take part.

The overall appearance of the home on my regular visits to my father is clean, tidy and in good decorative order. Some of the furniture looks tired but always cleaned and free from accidental spills. All the staff are very pleasant and cheerful towards dad and the family, even when dealing with difficult
situations.
Management contact in regards to admin, I have little contact with the house, only by telephone to accounts office. The food is good and dad enjoys his meals, plenty to eat and drink and always available in the room or tea room on the floor.

An emergency temporary placement where Mum was treated with care, consideration and dignity. She made much progress physically and emotionally. Medication well managed. Excellent activity facilitator who bonded well with my mother. Welcoming and reassuring receptionist. Mum enjoyed the food.

Mum was taken into Summer Lane for respite care when my dad was admitted to hospital. Mum has late-stage Parkinson's and I cannot praise the whole team there highly enough. They are wonderful. From the people who care for her on a daily basis, treating her with dignity and respect and keeping her comfortable,
the nursing staff who ensure she gets her medication when she needs it and picking up on any additional conditions which need attention; the facilities team who look after maintenance to a really high standard; the laundry and the catering colleagues; right through to the front of house team who are exceptionally welcoming, efficient and friendly. Sincerest thanks for taking such good care of mum during a difficult time.

Dad has lived at Summer Lane for about 16 months, dad has always been treated with respect and as an individual.
Staff are always warm and welcoming and go that extra mile for both residents and family.
All staff work really hard.
There is always a warm welcome from reception staff.
The downside
is the turnover of excellent staff due to the low wages.

The home is well placed for road and rail links and the staff cannot do enough for the residents. They have recently put a daily activity list together for the residents and they also have weekly outings for those that can cope with this.


The rooftop garden has been refurbished and the residents

enjoy being able to sit out there and have their tea and ice cream.

Very professional friendly staff - very clean - food good - a lovely place where I am confident my mother will be safe and happy. I have just moved her from a care home as I wanted staff on hand who were medically qualified so if she gets any health problems they will be able to treat them promptly.
She had very swollen legs when she moved here but have noticed that after a couple of weeks they have gone down considerably. I have taken her home for some tea and the staff are quite happy for her to go with me whenever. I feel sure she will be happy here for some time to come.

My mother's care over many years has been first class. The carers, nurses and management have been extremely supportive, knowledgeable and attentive. There is a very close relationship and bond between my mother and carers and all my mother's needs are met. Staff and carers spend much time with my mother,
feeding, toileting and cleaning and lots of verbal interaction. There is a genuine love from all carers.

I would like to thank everyone in Waverley suite for their care and consideration in looking after my husband who has been with you since March 2017, after a traumatic time from December 2016 when he had several mini strokes and went to hosptial. My son and I visited Summer Lane and were very impressed.
My husband is always clean and tidy and appears t be settled.

My ageing mother (>100years), having been a resident in a local residential nursing home required nursing care and we relocated her to Summer Lane. Our selection could not have been better.
The facilities were ideally suited for Mum, and she soon settled into her room.
The staff, from management,
nursing, carers, to laundry and cleaning, of which there were many, most importantly were highly professional, well trained, caring and very attentive to her needs.
Unfortunately Mum passed away and we then found the staff to be very supportive to family members at this very sad time.
I can only confirm we would have no difficulty recommending Summer Lane to anybody. The home provided an excellent service to Mum and support to us during her stay there.

My mother moved from a nursing home in our town six miles down the M5 to Summer Lane in Weston Super Mare. She moved into her new 'Home' and from the first moment that she became a resident, the care and attention she received was absolutely amazing. All the Staff were kind, attentive and very caring.
One of the lead practitioners in the residence is an extraordinary person and is such a natural in her job that I never felt perturbed when I left mum's room to go home after a visit. Unfortunately, due to my mother's illness, she sadly passed away on the 12th of July after only a short, about 3 1/2 weeks, of being cared for at an extraordinarily high level. Thank you Summer Lane.

Vimal completed his nursing degree in 2007 and went on to tutor for a year in medical and surgical nursing. He worked at several nursing homes in Lincolnshire before making the move to Somerset in 2015. Vimal’s special blend of expertise, knowledge and deep compassion for residents have made him a popular and highly respected manager with both staff, families and local health care professionals.

Lin is our Home Administrator and has worked at Summer Lane since 2019; she joined the Country Court family in 2017 bringing many years’ experience of working in care homes in Weston-Super-Mare and throughout Somerset.
