I think Oaktree is a lovely, caring home. I am very happy that my mother is here; she is warm, clean and well cared for, and staff are very helpful and attentive. It is comforting to know my mum is well looked after when I leave here.

Dad had been a resident in Oaktree for 21 months, and in all that time, he had been treated with the utmost respect and dignity by all the amazing, caring and dedicated members of staff. They have kept him safe and well right to the end. I will be forever thankful. Having been in the care sector for 33 years myself, it's not about dotting the I's and crossing the T's; it's listening and knowing the provision of what is necessary, both for residents, but also staff members. They make a home not just good but amazing.

Reply from Pam Arnsmeyer, Home Manager at Oaktree

Thank you, Nita, for the lovely review. We pride ourselves on teamwork, and taking care of the staff is sometimes just as important as taking care of the residents.

My mum has been a resident of Oaktree care home for 5 years. The care she receives is always of a very high standard. Although my mum continues to deteriorate she seems to be happy. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming and we are always kept up to date with Mum's health. I like the easy way the home is run. I can visit my mum at any time and never feel that I am in the way or inconveniencing anyone.

I frequently visit Primrose at Oaktree care home, where my mother is a resident. My visits are always random, with no fixed arrangements or times. My mother always looks clean and well-presented; she appears happy and settled, and the staff always show dignity and respect and are very attentive to my mother. I am always made welcome whenever or whatever time I arrive.

I visit Oaktree on a fortnightly basis as part of a group of volunteers from a charity. We sing together with the residents with particular empathy for those living with dementia. The activity staff are extremely supportive in the vital role of encouraging the residents to attend and take part also the crucial role of supporting and chasing the extremely busy care team on gathering the residents. we love visiting Oaktree.

We found the staff to be very polite and helpful and very understanding of the needs of the residents. The rooms are kept to a very high standard of cleanliness and the layout of the building is very easy to get around.

All meals were excellent, with a great selection. A big thank you to all the staff that made the stay for our parents a pleasant one.

Overall Experience
My dad became a resident here in January 21. I found the staff got to know and understand him and his needs very well. His time at Oaktree, although not ideal due to the issues surrounding Covid, was made, by the staff, to be as happy as could be. I cannot praise the staff more for the care, support, love and yes, fun banter with Dad.
Dad was in great hands and I felt so supported in some challenging times.
Communication was excellent and they helped understand and assist in Dad's needs whenever possible.
They made my last 16 months with dad as happy as possible for us, whilst handling the Covid situation with great care and caution for all.

Fantastic team, love to all of them and huge thanks.

I'm not able to comment on facilities or activities because of Covid restrictions and because Mum was quite poorly when she entered the home. She had a nice room and in her coherent moments, she said that the food was good. the staff are al very nice and helpful The care that she received from the nursing staff and carers were excellent. I felt that I had formed good relationships with all of the staff members. In between visits the staff keep me informed when required and update me during visits. Mum had advanced dementia and she died recently. The staff continued to be helpful and comforting.

Reply from Subi Shaji, Home Manager at Oaktree

Thank you very much for the appreciative words, I know it was not very easy for you to make the decision to move mum into our care especially during the lockdown. I am pleased to hear that mum felt supported by staff and it was our pleasure to look after mum and support you during the difficult period when mum was on End of life care.

I’ve been part of the home since 2016 and have made it my mission to keep a close eye on everything (usually from a sunny spot or a nearby chair!). My favourite things about living here are all the lovely food I’m given and the many warm, comfortable laps I get to curl up on throughout the day.

I like to think I brighten everyone’s day by offering plenty of cuddles, gentle purrs, and the occasional visit when someone needs a little extra company. Whether I’m sitting beside a resident or quietly supervising the daily activities, I always try to bring a bit of calm and happiness to the home. While I haven’t completed any formal training, I’m naturally very talented at providing comfort, companionship, and excellent cuddle support.
