She enjoys her varied food and eats well, we have afternoon tea together, which allows me to feel I am still doing a bit to help her. As I live in Sidmouth & Clock House is in Seaton, 15 miles away, if there is any need I am always rung up between visits. A first rate home in every way. Highly recommended.
Thank you for such a glowing review. I will pass your kind words on to the team who will be delighted to hear your thoughts. Your wife is a pleasure to care for.
Best wishes,Tom
My uncle has been resident for 5 months now and the care he has received has been exemplary. Visiting usually twice a week I have never witnessed any staff being any other than cheerful, calm, understanding, patient and helpful to all. He's enjoyed the food, the entertainment (especially the trips out) and the genial , friendly atmosphere. His medical care has been good and I have been regularly updated. Although he is suffering from fairly severe dementia he is very comfortable and unstressed. I have nothing but admiration for the staff.
Dear Les,
Thank you for publishing such a kind review. I will pass your words on to my co-workers as I know this will mean a lot to them.
Thanks again,Tom
I was very pleased when I was able to put my Sister in as a full time Resident at Check House, she was there for nearly two years and was so well looked after. Nothing was too much trouble for the Care staff and they were always polite and loving towards my Sister. Sadly she has now passed away, but I would recommend Check House to anyone needing a Care Home.
Hi Sandra,
Thank you for your kind words which I will pas on to my colleagues.
We miss your sister greatly and she was a pleasure to care for.
Kind regards,Tom
Staff were always helpful and attentive. They made extra special fuss for his 100th birthday and delightfully came to his room rooming and bringing a lovely cake. As guests visiting, my husband and I were always offered cups of tea which were most welcome. They made a special effort to get him to the funeral of his wife who died in January
Thank you for your kind words, which I will share with my colleagues here at the home. We miss John dearly and he was a pleasure to care for.
Check House in Seaton is the 'gold standard' of care. My mum has been at Check House for three years. During that time, there has been very little change of staff - so they have really got to know her. They always treat her with kindness, patience and utmost care. Even though she lost her speech just after moving in -we know they understand her and that she is extremely happy and well cared for. My sisters and I cannot praise Karen and the Checkhouse team highly enough.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. Your kind words mean so much to us and I will be sure to pass your sentiments on to my colleagues.
in their care a few years previously.
My step dad has living here almost 2 years now, and has settled in well and is happy.
The staff work very hard, and are very helpful caring and friendly, and you do feel part of the family here.
The food is very good, and nicely presented, and there is always plenty to eat and a good variety.
The home is kept clean. it is in an excellent location, with sea views, and lovely gardens A mini bus to take residents on outings, which they enjoy.
There is a good activity programme here, and always something going on, as well as visiting singers, a harpist or a piano player to help keep the residents entertained.
The only negative is that sometimes they seem short staffed, which can mean the staff are then overworked and it makes a job that is hard work much more stressful.
I would recommend this home.
Thank you for all you do.
Thank you for your kind words - I will pass them on to my colleagues. It means so much to us that you chose Check House again.
Whenever I visit I am always made to feel welcome. The whole team made a special effort over the Christmas period and I was able to go in on Christmas day and have a very good traditional meal. My wife seems happy and contented.
Thank you for taking the time to share your kind feedback with a lovely review. It is a pleasure to look after your wife and we are pleased that she has settled well. Your feedback will be shared with the whole team.
My husband and I have been delighted with the excellent care his mum receives at Check House. She is always treated with the utmost respect and affection by the very caring staff who are efficient and responsive to her needs at all times. Nothing is too much trouble and Check House very much feels like a home for Mum. We love all the activities and celebrations that Mum experiences there and the wonderful effort that everyone puts in to make each day special in some way.
Thank you for posting such a wonderful review. I will share your kind words with my colleagues because it means everything to us to know that you are happy with the care we provide.
Making the decision to move to 24hr nursing care for a loved one is an extremely difficult time and having visited a few homes as soon as I walked into Check House I just felt it was right. The staff were all so friendly and helpful as well as supportive through the move and then when my Mother went in she was cared for from the first moment. Throughout her time with Check House she was made to feel special and loved and even when she resisted they never gave up. The support they offered me and the family through this difficult time was so appreciated. I only wish we had moved Mum there earlier so she could have enjoyed her time there more. What was beyond our expectations was the end of life care given, such respect, dignity and love was given and I couldn't have asked for a better care at that time. If you're thinking about Check House for your loved one, don't wait any longer. It's a diamond by the sea.
We are incredibly grateful for your lovely review and I will make sure my colleagues will read your kind words as well as it will mean so much to them. We miss your mother greatly.
My husband has Lew Body Dementia and I have been turned away from other homes I thought would be suitable for him. I'm so glad he is in a safe and caring home - I know this is a lovely home for him and his needs. I am so impressed with the lovely care he is getting I visit him every day and feel comfortable with the staff and nothing feels like too much trouble so glad he is in The Check House.
Thank you very much for your lovely review, your kind words mean so much to us and I will pass your sentiments on to my colleagues. Your husband is a pleasure to care for.
My father greeted us with a big smile 'this place is magical', 'I'm so happy here'. The staff were all amazing, he was so well cared for both clinically and socially. Dad's stay at The Check House was perfect, his care was outstanding, the staff so welcoming and professional, the environment perfect.
Hi David, I am delighted to hear you are happy with the care we provided for your father. Although sadly he was only here for a short time, we will miss him, and I will be sure to pass your kind words on to my colleagues.
Our family is very grateful to the management team and all the staff at The Check House, who treated my mother with warmth, respect, and genuine compassion. They showed great sensitivity and professionalism in meeting her changing needs throughout her nearly four years there, especially in her final days. They also offered exceptional kindness and support to my father, who visited every day, making him feel welcome and included. I don't think we could have found a better home for my mother. I would not hesitate to recommend the Check House to other families.
Thank you for such a wonderful review. I will pass your kind words on to my colleagues because it means so much to all of us that you were happy with the care we provided for your mother, who we will miss dearly.
My husband came to The Checkhouse in February and our whole experience has been excellent. From his warm welcome on arrival to his final hours the care and support were exemplorary. The nursing care was efficient, kind and caring to both him and myself. Carers were thoughtful and gentle when he was at her most vulnerable. I was kept informed of all his progress at all times and was able to express my own and his wishes. I can't thank everyone enough for their kindness during our final days at The Check House.
Thank you very much for your lovely review. It was a pleasure to care for your husband and I will pass on your kind words to the rest of the team.
My wife died yesterday in The Check House where she had been for nearly four years. She was very hard of hearing using hearing aids, her sight was very poor due to macular degeneration and she could not speak due to a stroke. She was difficult to deal with and sometimes violent. All staff and management were kind, patient and I can't praise them highly enough.
Thank you very much for your lovely review. It was a pleasure to care for your wife and I will pass on your kind thoughts and words to the rest of the team.
When my husband came to the Check House for a respite break my husband and I could not have been treated with more kindness and support during his stay. Friendliness and care from all staff was exceptional, the kitchen team were amazing providing healthy and delicious meals accommodating dietary needs (I was warmly welcomed to eat meals with my husband and we were able to eat in privacy in their beautiful garden and terrace), and the management kindly set up my husband's room to make him as comfortable as possible and helping us out at all times. The setting on the East Devon Coast with views out to the sea is stunning and the grounds beautifully cared for. Thank you to all at the Check House for making my husband's stay such a comfortable and successful one and your welcome and care for us both.
Thank you very much for this lovely review. it was a pleasure to have your husband stay with us and I will pass on your kind words to the rest of the team.
My husband was a resident in The Check House for 5 years, following a severe stroke which left him completely bed bound. During this time, he received exemplary care from all the care staff, but particularly from the nursing staff - no bed sores in 5 years. Although he could only manage pureed food, it was always beautifully presented. We could not have found a better nursing home for him, and we will always be extremely grateful for his wonderful care and to know that he was in such safe hands.
Thank you for your wonderful review - it means so much to us to know you were happy with the care we provided. We will miss Brian very much. Best wishes
Our mum has been here over a year now and she has repeatedly told us she feels safe and well cared for. The nursing team and management keep us regularly updated with any concerns or health concerns immediately, the communication is amazing, the care is second to none and we honestly can't fault anything. We feel all her needs are met. Our mum struggles with food at times but they will give her anything she wants to eat.
Thank you for such a lovely review, it means so much to us to know you are happy with the care we provide.
My mum has been a resident for one year. During that year the staff have treated my mum with the upmost respect and caring and with empathy. Showing patience, and bonding a trusy with my mum. The nurses always communicate exceptionally well and always find time to talk to us. Nothing is ever too much from finding us a chair to sit on to the chef preparing our mum her favourite meal. The staff are like an extended family member to the residents like one big family. The home is always spotless and everyone gets a warm welcome.
Thank you for your review, I will share your comments with my colleagues who will be delighted to know you are so happy with the care we provide for your loved one.
My brother has been in The Check House for almost 3 years. The staff are always very welcoming when I visit and the care they give to the residents is exceptional. I would not wish my brother to be in any other care home. The staff are so kind and caring for the residents. It almost feels like your own home.
Thankyou so much for this lovely review. I will pass this on to the rest of the team.
Excellent care from all the staff.
Hi Robert, thank you for your review, it is greatly appreciated.
