We looked at a lot of care homes and this one was the best by far. Mother was looked after very well and I was kept informed if she was at all unwell and they were extremely good at the end of her life. Very well done to you all.

My mum was a resident in the nursing section of Ivydene for a year, having suffered a major stroke. The management of the home is very good and all the carers are great. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ivydene.

Dad was a resident at Ivydene for two years, sadly passing away in mid-October 2023. During his stay, the quality of care was very good.

In the last week, the attentiveness and compassion of all staff was exemplary - not only towards Dad but also towards us - nothing was too much trouble. Ivydene staff have, over the last two years, become a second family whose kindness we will never forget.

The pre-admission procedures were professional, friendly and courteous.
For the five days she was there, Mum was smart, well cared for and apparently content.

Our very good friend was transferred to Ivydene Residential and Nursing Home for palliative care. In the week she was there, she was looked after by very caring staff. Nursing staff were happy to explain everything about her care. The care team were happy to make sure her husband had a sandwich or cup of tea. Our friend was there and week and we (the friends/family) were looked after too.

I dropped off a piece of furniture for the resident. Although I did not stay long, I thought that the staff were amazing. They were friendly and helpful, and all my queries were answered. Despite the building work, the home was clean, and the residents seemed happy. So far, the three-week experience has gone much better than expected, as the resident in question is very happy and settled in the new environment.

Ivydene Residential and Nursing Home is an outstanding facility. All of the time my mother-in-law has been a resident and still continuing, they have treated her and our whole family with care, respect, dignity, love and professionalism. The management team are very knowledgeable, professional and caring which is reflected down into every member of staff at every level. I have already recommended Ivydene to friends and family and will always continue to do so. All of the care and love from the Ivydene family is very much appreciated and we are proud of the Ivydene care family.

My Mum has recently started to stay for respite at Ivydene Residential and Nursing Home, the most recent stay for 11 nights. On each occasion, my mum has been given the best care I could wish for. The staff are very friendly and caring and make my Mum feel at home as soon as she arrives.
The rooms are clean and homely. My mum tells me the meals are great with plenty of choice. Mum said there are lots of activities you can take part in or you can just relax in your room. Mum praised the young man who carried out the activities, saying he was great.

I also want to say a huge thank you to all the staff who are involved with my Mum's care. You do fantastic work. I am very grateful and appreciate the support you have given me.

Overall Experience

After 1 month in hospital, where it was concluded that I was suffering from Polymyalgia Rheumatic (PMR). I was discharged on a course of steroids. As I'm single, elderly and love by myself, I then self-funded 1 month's worth of respite care in Ivydene Home. The management and secretarial staff were very helpful and efficient in booking me in with the formal arrangements for payment etc. The caring staff were very helpful and friendly in getting me settled into my room, which was adequately furnished with very comfortable armchair, bed, TV and my personal toilet. The food was good and variable and I was happy to take all my lunch and evening meals in the dining area. The staff soon remembered my name and made me feel part of the community, though I was obviously different from most of the long-term residents. I appreciated the frequent coffee and biscuits delivered, cheerily, to the room if desired. There was parking space for my car. Overall, friendly stay, which I hope has helped my convalescence! Good value I think! One criticism, It's difficult to phone directly to Ivydene, calls are diverted to Sanctuary HQ and non obvious options.

Our mum was in Ivydene Residential and Nursing Homefor three months and we just wish it could have been for longer.

We are very grateful to all the staff for making Mum's last few months so happy. We all felt so peaceful about Mum, knowing how kind and caring all the staff are, and how they always made time for Mum and for us, whatever they were in the middle of doing. Mum's key worker told us on the first evening that we could visit any time of the day or night, as this was now Mum's home.

Mum was encouraged to join in all the activities - of which there are many - and really enjoyed the socialising at meals and in the lounge. The food looked great too!

It made us so happy how genuinely caring all the staff are. We know that Mum loved you all too. We have no hesitation in recommending Ivydene.

My mother was in Ivydene for four months before she died. She settled in immediately and was very happy and content. There was a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere, and her bedroom was comfortable. She enjoyed being downstairs with other guests - and loved the food! The carers were very kind and patient and ensured that she was included in any activity that interested her. She was always neatly and nicely dressed, and the staff even took the time to treat her very dry skin on her hands and face. Mum's visitors were welcomed, too, and when she died, the staff were very thoughtful and supportive towards the family. Thank you.

My brother was in Ivydene Residential and Nursing Home for about two months and the care he received was absolutely amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and they did every care with a smile on their face. What I noticed was there were not just carers but nurses so they dealt with problems swiftly. It was a happy place, people singing and lots of talking to the residents, I actually miss not going there now. Not that I tried the food but it was meals cooked from scratch. Looked lovely.

My father passed away on 25th November in Ivydene Residential and Nursing Home. I want to thank all the wonderful staff and management for the care, love and dignity they showed my Dad, and also to myself and my family. I stayed by my Dad's side for the four days leading to his passing, sleeping at his bedside. The staff showed me so much love, feeding me and making endless coffee! They looked after Dad, cleaning him, turning him with so much love. My special thanks go to the wonderful new management team, the nursing team especially the staff member who was with us when he passed, and the amazing caring team, night carers and to all the amazing background staff. You all made a sad and emotional time so much more bearable. I will miss seeing you all.
