I moved my Dad to Ivydene from another local home as the former home would not allow garden visits and instead had constructed a Perspex booth which distressed my Dad greatly. Ivydene allows garden visits and conservatory visits if the weather is bad with all appropriate infection control measures and it is so much better. The face mask is a bit confusing for my Dad but he gets used to it. I am so glad I moved him and compared to what I read about other places via Rights for Residents Ivydene/Sanctuary seems to be doing a lot better than other places.

The home came with a strong reputation that was entirely justified in our own experience of a short period of palliative nursing care. The management and all the staff supported our family from the moment we made contact in a friendly and effective way. Throughout my mother's stay, she enjoyed her care especially from the nurses and other care providers who invariably engaged her with compassion and the touch of humour that was vital.

My Nan passed away at the beginning of lockdown. On 7th July we went along to collect nans belongings which had been put into storage. On arrival, we saw 4 members of staff and none gave their condolences, we were then sent to the back door to be greeted by all belongings having been thrown into bags and boxes, no care had been given at this difficult time, then on asking where the wheelchair was to be told no idea. The caretaker was really helpful and went in search he returned to say another resident was sat in it, so the chair was passed back not in the most hygienic condition. All this was just the icing on the cake after several months of constant battles concerning Nan's care.

The home did a brilliant job caring for our mother in her final months. A laugh and a joke with the carers went a long way, and they were attentive to our needs as a family. The standard of care was maintained throughout, and Mum passed away peacefully and with dignity, for which we will always be grateful.

My mother went into Ivydene in March 2020, from where she was living in the West Midlands. How I wished she had gone into Ivydene at least two years ago. The care and comfort she received were amazing and I will be eternally grateful for the staff and all they did for her, making her passing so lovely, as indeed it was. Thank you.

Dad entered Ivydene in December 2019. We as a family were greeted by extremely friendly and helpful staff; in a difficult time for Dad and his family.
Dad has settled well and is well cared for by sensitive and caring staff.
We are kept well updated with Dad's needs, any hospital appointments have been sorted by very efficient nurses, and contact has been made by them with regards to Dad's health and well-being requirements.

This gave us peace of mind.

My first impression of Ivydene was very favourable as it is situated in a quiet residential area in a lovely town. The purpose-built accommodation is light, airy, clean and homely. The management team are friendly, very efficient and always approachable, and the care team were always professional, attentive, extremely hard-working and provided a caring but fun atmosphere for the residents. My mum spent several moths in Ivydene, through apprehension, but on admission, she soon relaxed, became worry-free and began to enjoy the activities on offer which gave her a new lease of life.

Thank you to everyone at Ivydene, my family and I will be forever grateful to you all.

Very, very pleased with my husbands care. Excellent nurses who were caring and involved me in decisions about my husband's treatment.
The caring staff all became friends and made us feel at home during his stay. I felt he was cared for with dignity, compassion and humour to jolly him along.

All of the staff from the manager to the handyman were kind and helpful. I thoroughly recommend this home.

First and foremost the staff are exceptional. The care my mother receives is 100% good. The food is excellent and plenty of it.
Feedback for my mother's welfare is brilliant and she is 104 years old I am kept very well informed of her wellbeing.
The activities provided really help in keeping her mind active.

The management is superb.

We travelled from Spain to visit mother. We find the care home to be excellent. Mother is well cared for. The staff are brilliant.

Knowing all this gives us peace of mind seeing as we live so far away, on ringing regularly to the home asking her health, the staff inform us, they are very helpful.

Reply from Fae Doherty, Senior MarketingOfficer at Ivydene Residential and Nursing Home

My Mother was treated with kindness, compassion and professionalism in her last few weeks of life. She was contented and at peace in Ivydene because all her needs were met. In addition, my daughter and I who were her principal carers previously felt well supported.

My Mum became a resident at Ivydene in July 2018. During her stay, she received the very highest level of both nursing and domestic care delivered by a large team of very dedicated, compassionate and professional staff. The transition for my Mum from living independently to living in a nursing home was made in a sensitive and caring way, made possible by staff members who constantly displayed high levels of caring and respect for both Mum and her family. We, as a family, feel fortunate that Mum was able to spend the last part of her life in such a loving and comfortable environment. Thank you Sanctuary Care for your help and wonderful support.

Excellent home. Nothing is too much trouble. Residents are encouraged to participate in great activities. Today I've sung along to very good musical band of 10. Innovative and person-centred. Highly recommend. Three tire system of dementia, nursing and residential needs. Good.

Ivydene provides just the right package of care and facilities to suit my Dad’s needs. The atmosphere of the place gives it more the feeling of a welcoming small hotel than a care home. The rooms are easily accessible, well decorated, clean, light and airy and the majority have a nice outlook either over the garden or the distant countryside. The food is home cooked and of a good standard and there are often homemade biscuits and cakes available. There are several reception areas and a nice level garden which allow the residents to mingle and move about.
But the staff are what really sets Ivydene apart, they always make time for residents and visitors alike and listen to any concerns. I really admire them for their patience and understanding with the residents.

It is saddening enough to have a relative with dementia, but I am very thankful to know that my Dad is being really well cared for and that I have done the best I can for him in finding Ivydene.

We were visiting from Spain and my first impression on entering the residential home, firstly, a secure door so that no one had to wait for entry. Secondly, friendly staff and caring towards all of the home. Not to forget the food, tested hot and lovely. To be recommended.

Rooms are good. The home has a good feel, caring staff and very friendly, especially dementia staff. Food is not always age appropriate - I wonder how many residents want vegetarian food, garlic bread and tiramisu?

The most disappointing service is the laundry. Clothes lost, nothing ironed and not put in drawers in any order. Requests not followed - socks in net bag as an example.

My father has resided here for more than a year and is very happy with his new home. He is treated with care, respect, affection, kindness and considers all his needs are catered for. His health is looked after by professional and attentive nursing staff who appreciate both its physical and mental needs. He is afforded constant consideration to his daily amusements engaging in daily entertainment or watching TV. He enjoys the food provided for him and appreciates the chef and catering staff.
