I honestly couldn't believe just how much goes on here! The variety is amazing, including karaoke, mini concerts, animal visits, BBQ days, and so much more. A special mention has to go to Jacqui, who organises the events. She is fantastic at getting absolutely everyone involved, ensuring no one is left out of the fun.
The dedication to creating a joyful, active, and dignified environment is clear to see. I couldn't recommend Tyspane Care Home more highly!
I moved into Tyspane on 4th Feb 2026 the moment I arrived I was made to feel very welcome. The staff are all very friendly and give a very good standard of care. The activities are very good and varied every day the reception area allows one to have a tea/coffee in a very nice area with free cake. I can recommend Tyspane to any one looking for a care home
Thank you for your review, and your feedback that we will pass on to the team. We are we are so pleased you have settled in and are happy living here at Tyspane.
It suited my mother's needs very well
I can finally sleep at night knowing she's well cared for. All the staff are wonderful to her
Many thanks
My nan recently stayed for 2 weeks respite. She was very well looked after by all members of staff. My nan really enjoyed taking part in all the different activities that were going on, especially the art classes. There was a few things my nan was missing from her home, for example her bird feeder outside, so one lovely maintenance man happily put one by her door with no hesitation. Nothing was very too much.
Many thanks
Our dealings with Barchester Tyspane Care Home at Braunton have been very positive.

My 95-yo recently bereaved father moved from residential care to Tyspane in September.
His day to day experience is massively improved over the previous home in almost every way, as is mine as his primary contact.
Staffing levels and proficiency are excellent. Everyone always seems to be very smily, friendly and helpful. When the occasional problem does arise (as it inevitably does anywhere), there is a genuine desire to understand the issue and to resolve the situation. (As the relative, this is enormously reassuring, as I know we won't get "fobbed off", and if he ever did feel that way, that the staff and I would work together to get to the bottom of it and sort it out.)
My father has found the food very much to his liking, and raves about the quality of the ingredients, the menus, and the cooking.
The physiotherapy team is a huge plus. Babs has got my father's puffy legs, ankles and feet down to a sensible size through targeted exercises.
I could go on, but out of room!
Best Wishes

The staff took care of my Mum while she was resident at Tyspane exceptionally well. We were more than happy with the level of care and attention she received. They couldn't have been kinder when she passed away

Engagement by management, non-existent, despite 150 visits.
Thank you for leaving this review, I am pleased that your wife receives "excellent" care from our nursing team I know they always put our residents at the centre of all they do. I am in the home on a daily basis and I am sorry that we have not met formally and I would be very happy to chat with...
I came to visit my Grandfather on a Monday afternoon. I found him in the lounge enjoying the karaoke. It was so lovely to see the residents so happy. The staff that I met during my visit were all very friendly. The reception staff offered my a drink and slice of cake when I arrived. The Home has a very welcoming feel and I can see it was the right choice for my Grandfather.
Thank you for your fantastic review, we are delighted that your Grandfather is enjoying life at Tyspane especially getting involved in our life enrichment activities which helps our residents connect and form friendships within the home, our weekly events programme actively encourages our visitors to get involved, especially on a Monday if they can hold a tune! Many thanks
My cousin is being supported palliatively in this home. I recently watched a video on social media shared by my cousin regarding a trip to the beach that was facilitated by the home. I wanted to say that it was amazing to see and that I could see the joy that my cousin and her close family were able to share in during this experience. It will be a memory that will be treasured forever by all involved. As a fellow Social Care Worker I want to commend you for what you have done. Keep making worlds for people.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. Our residents well being and life enrichment is central to all we do, our Activities and Physio teams will be so happy to know that the wider family and friends felt included in their loved ones special day. Many thanks
My sister is living here due to a terminal illness. She is a mum to a 7 year old and we cannot fault the care from all of the staff.
My niece is treated like family, is regularly invited to join all the residents and knows most of the staff by name.
All of the staff have got to know my sister as a person and you can tell they care about their residents deeply. Just yesterday they took my sister to the local Beach and a couple of the staff came along on their day off to spend their day with us.
I cannot recommend Tyspane enough, it feels like a huge family home.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review. The care and life enrichment of our residents is at the heart of everything we do and we are so pleased that the Activities and Physio team were able to help your cousin fulfil her wish to enjoy a day at the beach with all her family. Many thanks
This Care Home is brilliant the care my wife gets is excellent. The staff are very experienced efficiencies there nothing is too much trouble. The manager came and done our assessment so we have met the manager and the manager has been in and seen my wife on numerous occasions. There is free tea and coffee and cake for residence and their guest. This is an excellent Care Home it's got in-house physio and the doctor goes and sees the patients once a week, which I think is amazing.
Dear PaulThank you so much for your 5* review, it means so much to all the staff that their hard work and dedication is noticed and appreciated. It has been an absolute pleasure to get to know your wife and the family and pleased that you chose Tyspane to support your wife's journey
I have been visiting a friend at Tyspane for a few weeks. The home has a welcoming feel from the minute you walk through the door. I sat with my friend in the lounge and the activities offered were amazing. It was very clean and smelt fresh. The staff were very helpful and I was offered coffee and delicious cake. I had a lovely conversation with the manager, she was very approachable and informative. I would definately recommend this home.
Thank you for writing this lovely review it is really good to know that you felt welcomed into our home and your comments regarding the home and the manager are well received and appreciated.
Also would like to say a huge thank you to the physio assistant and girls in physio room, they work so hard and deliver fantastic results, got my father up and walking and put a big smile on his face...Thank you so much....

Lovely home with brilliant staff! I would highly recommend it. I often see regular social media updates showcasing a variety of engaging activities, such as visits from family, gardening sessions, and fun events that bring everyone together. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, making it a perfect place for residents to feel at home. The staff truly go above and beyond to ensure the comfort and happiness of each resident, fostering a sense of community that is heartwarming. It's evident that they prioritise not just care, but also companionship and joy, creating a vibrant environment where everyone can thrive and enjoy their time together.
Thank you for writing this wonderful review detailing the services on offer at Tyspane. We truly believe that the activities, entertainment and good food are key to residents getting the most out of each and every day. Relatives are encouraged to join us as often as possible which helps create a fun atmosphere helping to put the residents at the heart of all we do. Many thanks.
The main reception area was very well set out making me feel I was visiting a hotel.
I was met by a member of staff who asked me who I had come to see and asked me to sign in.
I was shown to my friend's room, which was very well set out and felt very homely, lovely and warm.
Having spent time with my friend I asked a member of staff if I could see the manager or assistant manager.
I was able to speak to the assistant manager who was so professional in every way and made sure that our conversation was confidential and that any concerns I might have had were explained. I also was able to speak to the senior carer looking after my friend that evening.
There was a really good feel to the home, all the staff are professional in their approach and look happy.
A well-run home, all credit to the manager, assistant manager and staff
Dear David, thank you so very much for your fantastic review of Tyspane and our great staff. The staff really work tirelessly to ensure everyone's comfort and safety, I will be sure to share your review/feedback with the wider team who will all be delighted to receive such recognition.
Nothing was too much trouble, all the staff that came in her room told her their names. The manager came in to see if she was settled and her needs all taken care of. A big thank you to all.
Kind regards.
Thank you for your kind words, they are greatly appreciated and we are pleased to know that your friend felt comfortable and safe at Tyspane. I will be sure to pass on your comments to staff within the home.
I have co-power of attorney for a friend who has now been at Barchester Tyspane Care Home for five months. She settled in well and I found that the staff were always on hand to answer any questions we had on any subject. Her room is comfortable and well-furnished with a nice view of the garden. I imagined that she would spend most of her time in her room because she values her privacy but, in fact, she has loved going to the lounge during the day and participating in the various social activities. On my most recent visit, there was an opera/classical singer who put on a fabulous show. My friend looked so happy and was singing along. The staff served food and refreshments during the performance and engaged with all the residents, singing or dancing with them and making it a really special event. This is the norm for the staff - nothing seems too much trouble and they look to engage at all times. My experience of the management, admin, reception and nursing/care staff has been extremely good.
Thank you for writing this lovely review, it is always heartwarming to receive such positive feedback. We believe that the Activities Team at Tyspane are a wonderful asset always seeking to provide good quality and positive experiences for our residents, their families and friends and we are...

Hi, my name is Bridget and I live locally with my husband and 3 children. I love to spend time with my family enjoying outdoor activities such as the beach and the countryside around beautiful North Devon.

In my spare time, I enjoy long bike rides, trips to the beach and time with my husband. We love spending time with our family, especially our 5 grandchildren.
