Shortage of staff and it shows. Management are not good in dealing with items lost, my wife's glasses have been missing for months, very little action taken, not good for the wife, struggling to see. Quality of life is worse than it should be.

My father has lived at Tyspane for nearly nine years. The staff are all very caring and helpful and work very hard to look after all the residents. My father is very happy there and always likes to chat and joke with everyone.

My mum moved to Tyspane in 2016 following a series of strokes that left her bed-bound and with dementia. She was not expected to live beyond that year.
Due to the outstanding care, she received from the team at Tyspane, she defied the medics and had six quality years at Tyspane before she died at the beginning of this year. She enjoyed the company of the staff and was delighted that she was able to spend time with animals, whom she loved. She was regularly visited by dogs and the house cats and on one extraordinary occasion, a llama came to visit her in her room.
The Tyspane team went above and beyond to provide an environment in which my mum felt safe and loved and it was a huge relief to me - as her only son - to know how well she was being looked after. We spoke most days and visited regularly and the support I got from the team was also massively appreciated.

I can not thank the team enough for the care and love they gave my mum.

Thank you for writing this lovely review. It was our pleasure to care for your dear mother and to meet all her family. The staff at the home work hard to ensure that our residents continue to connect with furry friends as well as family and human friends so it is gratifying to hear that this brought so much pleasure to your mother during her time at Tyspane.

My mother-in-law passed away at Tyspane Care Home a few days ago. We would like to thank the staff who looked after her for their excellent work, skill and support. Their empathy in this difficult situation was touching. Their attempts to support her as she went downhill were beyond the call of duty.

Thank you for reviewing Tyspane. It is heartwarming to know that the staff at Tyspane were able to support both you and your mother at the most difficult time. Your comments are appreciated and will be passed on to the whole team. Many thanks and best wishes to all your family.

Having visited my wife, who has Alzheimer's disease, in Tyspane for over 10 years, I am well acquainted with the staff and workings of Tyspane Care Home and rate the home highly in North Devon. The home has wide corridors, spacious rooms and lovely gardens-all maintained to a high level. Like most Care Homes and especially during the Covid pandemic, staffing has sometimes been a problem due to sickness and low pay, but with a nucleus of long service, well-trained and caring staff and recent recruitment, staffing has improved. I give praise and thanks to staff in all sections of the home, especially to certain individuals for their caring and concern for the wellbeing of the residents and their surroundings together with friendship, kindness and understanding shown to me.

My lovely mum has been in Tyspane for 18 months. I feel she is cared for with lots of TLC. I visit most days and the carers and all staff are very warm towards me. Mum sadly hasn't been too well this year but the good care has helped.

Brilliant physiotherapy treatment with a very tricky problem. My partner's hand is clenched after several strokes - he refuses to have treatment or allow carers or physiotherapists to touch it or help him with exercises or washing it - or cutting nails. However, with the (partner) present - the physiotherapist managed to open the fingers and was his hand (partially opened the fingers) and in my presence really managed to put a pad under the fingers without him shouting.

My mother was a resident at Tyspane Nursing home for many years. The care she received over the years was exceptional. The care and devotion of the team of staff was excellent, especially during the long months of the Covid lockdown. My Mother died at Tyspane Care Home and was treated with care and respect until the end. I and my family will be eternally grateful for the care and love showed to Mam.

My mother passed away peacefully yesterday. I would like to thank the lovely staff, who not only cared for her in her final hours with kindness and respect but also after her passing. I cannot thank the staff and management enough for looking after my mother over these very difficult last few years. She was treated with love and respect which was very comforting. She managed to have her 100th Birthday in the home and the staff put on a fantastic show decorating the lounge with streamers, balloons and lots of cakes for everyone. A day I shall not forget. Thank you once again for all your hard work. I highly recommend Tyspane.

I am extremely impressed and grateful for the care and nursing which my late wife received at Tyspane. She was completely dependent on others throughout the year she spent with you.

I am grateful for the care and help I received as a visitor and later as essential care was given I felt I was a member of the family who was really loved and I was given much care, advice and help. I cannot thank the staff and management enough and would recommend Tyspane without exception to anyone searching for a care/nursing home for a loved one. Thank you all.

We were happy that Mum was receiving good quality, friendly care in a well-maintained building. The staff were always kind and very friendly and activities were always plentiful and varied which kept Mum interested and entertained throughout her time there.
As her mobility deteriorated the staff needed to provide more intensive and time-consuming care but this was always provided without hesitation.
The administrative process of having Mum be a resident for over five years was always efficient and clear to understand and was also handled in a friendly way.

We are grateful to all the staff at Tyspane for their contribution in making Mum's final years as enjoyable and safe as they were.

My husband was admitted to hospital as an emergency from there with sepsis as he was not monitored correctly as a patient there and became dehydrated. I am so grateful for the quality of care my brother received in the last few months of his life after a severe stroke and heart attack. He knew he had come "home" and was able to receive loving care such as I think he had not known since he was a very young child. I can't thank the staff enough for all they did for him. Unfortunately, Tyspane hasn't been a good experience for me. I have had to contact safeguarding, and the management seems to never be around to answer my calls or messages. My dad spent his last 5 weeks in the care of the Tyspane Staff. The move to the nursing home was difficult as both mum and dad wanted to be at home together. We soon realised that we all had quality time together in his last weeks due to the pressure of caring for dad taken by the exceptional staff at Tyspane. I speak for both my mother and my family when I say that his passing was sensitively handled and we were able to spend time with him knowing that he was pain-free and unafraid. We are grateful that he was in such pleasant surroundings and that his view from his room gave him pleasure, he even liked watching the rooks outside his window. Thank you to all the staff that makes up the running of the home.

It is such a worry when a loved one goes into care. We are over 200 miles away from my Dad, who was completely against going into a home for many years. Tyspane has changed his life, he is so happy with everything and his life has turned around and become so much more fulfilling. He has made friends with other residents and staff and is so happy to be there. He feels like he matters again and enjoys chatting to everyone and telling them stories from the past. For us, it is a breath of fresh air and a huge weight of worry lifted from us as we know he is happy, well looked after in every way and treated like he matters. I would not hesitate to recommend Tyspane to anyone!
