With an excellent reputation for the high standard of care, the long-serving team at Furzehatt are passionate about enriching the lives of their residents. Providing residential, dementia, nursing and palliative care, they also offer respite care breaks.

There are so many activities to enjoy, from baking, yoga, animal therapy and music sessions, to gardening, indoor bowls, church services, games, a book club and crafts.

The community is embraced into life in the home, with regular volunteers enjoying activities too, as well as local school children and college students. The home also has a piano for music sessions.

This summer the team completely revamped the gardens ‘Ground Force’ style! The makeover looks beautiful, with two water features, a tortoise garden, home to Malcolm and Murtle and a new herb and vegetable garden.   

The residents have enjoyed growing their own herbs and vegetables, which the chef used in the kitchen, giving them such a sense of achievement.

And the home-cooked cuisine is a real highlight, with everything from roast dinners with all the trimmings to fish and chip Fridays, and home-baking for afternoon tea.

The team champion their residents to have a very active role to play in how their home is run. There are resident ambassadors, who do everything from interviewing potential staff, to showing new residents and their loved ones around their home.

There are so many homely spaces to relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time, from welcoming lounges and quiet spaces, to a conservatory overlooking the gardens. There is also a hair salon, for regular appointments with a mobile hairdresser. And a chiropodist also visits monthly.

Furzehatt also has a private family and friends Facebook page, with regular photos, videos and updates on what the residents have been enjoying doing.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2025 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1125 and for nursing care £1337, but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

Warm welcome when I entered the home, shown where to go and had a good visit. Really clean and smelled nice. Polite staff and residents throughout. Was offered a cup of tea and biscuits. Family member was happy and well cared for

Mum has been at Furzehatt for a year now. During this year, she has become frailer mentally, often declining personal interventions. The staff have taken time to know her, they manage her care beautifully, using 'retreat & return' approaches. This works well, it gives mum some control of when they always
approach her with dignity and respect. I am confident that she is cared for as an individual, always with kindness & respect. When I visit, it is clear from the tidy appearance of her room and her clean appearance that Mum has been cared for well.

I love living at this home. Going into my second year now and feel so happy and safe. I have all my needs met. The home is warm and everyone is my family. I have made lots of friends. I join in with all the activities and there are so many. If I want to sit in my room then I can. I visit others in their
rooms and they come to mine to watch a film, eat snacks and drink some wine. The whole team are wonderful. This week a staff member helped me send a bunch of flowers to my niece for her birthday. They care about the little things. They have helped me get physio and I am getting a boot to help me walk again. I cannot thank them enough. We are treated as adults, cared for as adults, allowed to take risks and also kept safe. The food is nice, they treat my things with respect and are discreet when caring for me. Everyone is always so happy. I am always happy. Every morning I get woken with a smile and much needed coffee.

My mum's time at Furzehatt care home, was like home from home with the added bonus of beautiful cooked meals 3 times a day, daily activities, weekly church services and much more.
That is before I begin on to the care and nursing team at Furzehatt, especially in the last two weeks before our mum passed
away. Mum was treated with the upmost dignity and compassion and the staff go up and beyond their job description in the care they all showed to our mum. This also went to us the family they looked after us so well too. If anyone is looking for care for a loved one, I couldn't recommend Furzehatt more. The cleaning team kept all the rooms immaculate along with all the communal lounges and dining rooms.
Thank you doesn't express enough what we feel for The Furzehatt team, from Management to all the carers, nurses, housekeeping, chefs and the wonderful reception team that always make you feel so welcome. Keep up the good work and be proud of your team.

Furzehatt is above all a Care Home. The team of staff from cleaners to admin, carers and management are outstanding in the level of care provided. Mum is currently end of life and the team have been amazing in terms of respect, kindness, support, caring - even coming in on days off and holidays to visit
Mum and support the family. Mum has previously commented on the kindness of the staff and we couldn't have asked for more during Mum's final months.

My Mum resided in the nursing side of Furzehatt for approximately 3 years prior to then she had resided in 2 other residential care homes. The Registered Nursing staff are some of the most excellent Nurses I have had the privilege to meet they always ensured My mother's Medical needs were addressed.
They always respected my concerns and included me in decision making.
Mum had end stage Alzheimer's the time she was admitted to Furzehatt carers ensued she was treated with dignity and respect they excepted me as Mums advocate checking in with me ensuring her care needs were being met. After having not good experiences in other residential homes the day we brought Mum into Furzehatt my sister and I felt she had come home. Mum was settled in to a bright sunny room given a lovely lunch and the smile across her face was priceless a smile we had not seen in along time. Mum passed in Furzehatt March 2025 after being poorly for approximately 8 weeks the staff couldn't have been more attentive.

Mum was transferred to Furzehatt nursing home just before Christmas 2024. She settled in well and was comfortable there. We were called up to Furzehatt home early hours in the morning in the new year, when the on duty nurse noticed mum's condition had changed. Although night time, all staff kept checking
on mum plus making sure we were all okay. When mum passed away they treated her with dignity and respect. The nurse was excellent and helped us through a very sad time and in a gentle way explained next steps. Although mum was there for a short time, we were very impressed with her care and all of the staff.

The home is very good. The staff work incredibly hard and seems to have a good relationship with the residents. My mum likes being there. There is a good range of activities offered. The home feels nice.

My wife has been here for the past eight years and I have visited every day even through Covid. I came and spoke through the windows and luckily she was on the ground floor. I have to say that visiting every day I have experienced a lot of staff turnover. With our new management team now, I think every
day is very enjoyable as I have never heard so much laughter and singing. Everyone is very competent in what they do. Well done all and thank you.

Our overall view of the home is excellent. The staff are very obliging. We realise that we are not supported to name people but here are a couple of employees who go above and beyond their job descriptions and did a great job with the planting etc. The food is of good quality and plentiful. There is
always a good selection available.

Absolutely lovely home from the receptionist to all the care staff and nurses, my husband had to go into the care home after a stay in hospital and he has been treated brilliantly. It can be a frightening experience but the staff are amazing and the food is fantastic. The staff genuinely care for the
residents and there is always something going on daily. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Furzehatt Care.

Visited my aunt this weekend and the home was having a summer fete. Despite the awful weather, the home was fantastic and decorated beautifully. There was an ice cream van and the most amazing food for the residents and visitors to enjoy. Other relatives were providing the entertainment for everyone.
It was truly a family day. The home manager and deputy are always available and welcoming. The home offers outstanding care. They care about the little things. My aunt stopped walking and they have got her back on her feet slow and steady. My aunt has friends for the first time in her life and loves the knitting club and other activities. They say it can be a hard decision to put your loved one into a home but this was by far the easiest one because they are so great. Thank you Furzehatt.

Mum went in feeling very tired but after 12 days of complete rest, she felt much better. She felt very well looked after by all the attentive staff. She also enjoyed the good food.

This is not necessarily a complaint but more an observation and a suggestion. At the inner front door to open, some people have to wait up to 15 minutes for the door to be opened. Surely it should be possible to put a push button keypad on the outside lobby door and enter a code to open the door from
the outside, the same as the inside.

I couldn't thank the staff enough for looking after my dad, all went beyond and above for him. They truly know the meaning of the importance of a therapeutic relationship between staff and service user. They delivered such high patient-centred care and in turn, this made my dad feel safe, cared for
and he has been able to be the best version of himself. The home is clean, well-staffed, friendly and accommodated not only to Dad but with family too. Dad loved the food, the interaction and he is extremely happy. Thank you.

My sister-in-law moved into the home in December. It is a lovely home with lovely staff who have made her feel safe and well cared for. The food is lovely and her room is nice. Her laundry is always handled with care and the care staff are very polite and welcoming. All of her needs are met and she
loves the activities that are in the home even when they have creature comforts in with snakes and spiders eek. Everyone knows her by name and understands her needs, wishes, likes and dislikes, she is not a number but is treated and loved as a person. I feel so reassured that she is in this home with such highly skilled and trained staff. They are truly remarkable.
