The care my mother received whilst in the care of everyone at Elburton Heights was 5 star in every way. The last few months of her life was very comfortable and we were all treated with the utmost respect. We couldn't recommend the home or staff enough. When my mother passed away in the early hours of 18th April, they were really supportive.

Everyone at Elburton Heights is extremely helpful, kind and caring. They work hard to provide good care for all their residents. The quality of the food is good but is often cold by the time it reaches my father. This is more of a problem of the food getting cool from the kitchen to the serving area.

My mum-in-law has only been a resident for a few months and the change in her is amazing! This is all down to the excellent care and attention and good food given to her. She is happy, settled, treated with care, dignity and respect. My grateful thanks to all the staff.

We relocated my mother to Devon to be near family due to ill health with the view of getting her into a home. Fate meant she was hospitalised soon after and so we needed to find a suitable home quickly. Having viewed 9 other homes (and assessing CQC reports) we visited Elburton Heights. Immediately on entering, we had 'the right feeling'. The atmosphere, the layout, the nice music, the lovely garden and above all the extremely welcoming staff made our mind up on the spot. Mum has been so happy here and after only a few weeks is calling it home. We have had some battles with the NHS following other admissions to hospital (as she is still being assessed for local government funding) but the home has been so supportive and helpful at what is a stressful time.

The staff try to be as helpful as they can, always friendly and respectful. We feel we can leave Mum and not worry about her care. As always, if you notice something health wise with your relative it is worth pointing it out. My mum is of the generation where she doesn't want to be a bother. The food is plentiful and of a good standard. My mum's only criticism is she doesn't like the tea, not great flavour - too milky and cold - but hey, if that's all we've got to say on a negative front then that's pretty top marks I'd say. Instantly we feel part of the Elburton Heights family and it is more than we could have wished for.

Thank you for taking the trouble to review Elburton Heights and picking out the factors which gave you confidence to pass your mothers care over to the team at Elburton Heights. I am pleased that she is settling well and that you have peace of mind knowing that she is well cared for. Thanks also for the feedback about the tea! We'll get on to that straight away. Kind regards

My mother has been very poorly with dementia for about 4-5 years. In this time we tried to keep her in her own home, which we managed with great difficulty until 12 months ago. Since April this year, my mother has been moved 6 times, each time being very unsettling for not only her but also for us. Last week we moved her into Elburton Heights nursing home and we feel that a big weight has been lifted off our shoulders. From the minute we walked through the door my partner and I looked at each other and knew it was the right place for mum to move to. It had a very calming atmosphere and the residents look very happy and well looked after. All the staff we have met are very kind to the residents and family and nothing is too much trouble. I know my mother is very poorly and her condition will only get worse, but I know they are making her as comfortable as possible. There is always something going on to keep the residents happy, music, films, coffee mornings each week. We are so grateful.

On my initial visit/enquiry staff were very helpful and informative when showing me the facilities. They were able to accommodate my mother at short notice and provided an environment where she was able to make good progress in recovering from a stroke. I was always welcomed when I visited, the staff were all very friendly.

My wife has been in this care home for around twelve years and she has been well looked after all this time. She takes part in some of the activities and has been out on minibus trips. I pay her a visit almost every afternoon and am always made most welcome and looked after by staff and management. I have Sunday lunch with my wife every Sunday, the food is excellent.

My aunt is well cared for. She is always clean with clean clothes. Management is easy to approach if there is a problem. Coffee mornings on a Tuesday for residents and relatives are good for meeting other families. There is always some form of entertainment for residents. My main issue is staff have to spend so much time filling in paperwork which means less time spent with the residents.

Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Elburton Heights Care Home

Thank you for your review. The feedback you have given regarding paperwork is an interesting one, as the care team would love to be with their residents 100% of their working day but it is a fact that excellent care is backed up with excellent record keeping. Our care teams are well trained and...

This is a review over the 18 months period that my wife has been in residence. I have a great respect for all staff at the home. Ever since we arrived here, they have shown a good standard of nursing and care displayed. It enables one as visitors to be sure that their loved ones are in safe and capable hands. I also find it very easy to get guidance over any enquiries I have.

My mother has been here for 6 years the standard of care has vastly improved under the new management. Staff are friendly and helpful. Over the years I have got to know the working of the home well and the staff that have been here for this time. I think my mother is well cared for and considering she cannot communicate with speech the staff anticipate her needs very well. I can tell that she is very fond of some of them and that they like her.

Room does require recording (but partly the resident's fault as he wouldn't wait for room to be decorated before moving in). Wheelchair cleaning needs to be done on a regular basis. Staff are excellent.

Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Elburton Heights Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to review Elburton Heights. We have noted your comments and will ensure that wheelchair cleaning is reviewed. With regard to room redecoration, there is a programme of redecoration and all rooms will be 'made over' but understandably, it is hard when a room is occupied. Rest assured that one way or another all will be done! Kind regards

Springfields Care Home have been looking after my very special Mum since January 2014. She has always been treated with love and respect. Also, they have been so supportive towards both my husband and myself when my health has made it difficult for us to see Mum as often as we would like to do.

Dementia is a dreadful condition and all the staff through from the cleaners to the on-site management are experts in caring for residents with the condition. We are happy to recommend the home and every member of staff to anyone looking to find an excellent residential home for a loved one.
