Abbey View ticks all the boxes and fully merits its grading as 'excellent' on all counts. It is well-run. Without exception the staff are kind, competent and enthusiastic and always helpful. I cannot find fault with Abbey View. Its fees are money well spent, I cannot say more.

From the moment I first visited Abbey View, I knew it was an amazing place for Mum to stay. Every member of staff is so friendly and helpful in every way. My sister and I think the same. Cleanliness is pristine - in fact, more like a five-star hotel. Everywhere smells fresh. The room Mum is in is perfect
and always clean and tidy. Her clothes well looked after and she always looks so nice when we visit. We know Mum is now safe and secure and that is peace for us. I know Mum does not eat much, but what we have seen of the food is amazing!

Abbey View provided Dad with the care he needed and as his needs grew, so did the support he received from the staff. Nothing was too difficult. As a family, we were kept informed and were able to help Dad make informed decisions. Obviously, we rather would not need the services provided or Dad to have
been in care but I could think of no better place for him to have lived when that level of care was required.

My 3-month stay here has been excellent. The staff are always pleasant and happy to help. There have been some entertainment group activities. My ongoing situation is uncertain but if I need permanent residential care I would be very happy to reside at Abbey View. My appetite isn't good hence the slightly
reduced rating.

This nursing home is providing homely and yet professional care for our friend. We really have nothing but praise for all that happens at the home. We are welcome whenever we call. The "coffee shop" is a particular boon. It is never smelly or unkempt. We have another friend who has been in Abbey View
Nursing & Residential Home for two years and he is equally lovingly cared for.

A short service was needed for respite care. From the very start, the welcome and support could not have been better. As the recipient, I was made welcome from first contact. The assessment was deep and took into account my needs, social, medical and emotional. From the start, and now four weeks in,
the support I have been given has been excellent at all times. And my wife has been supported equally well. My stay is short-term, but if needed, I would happily stay here.

As a nurse, I am very aware of all aspects of the care of older people. My mother has been a resident at Abbet View for over a year, and her care has been really excellent. During her "well days", she has been looked after with a "light" touch, and on her frail day, she has been cared for with impressive
attention to detail. All the staff I have had contact with have been great.

My Mother was a resident at Abbey View for over 7 years. She was beautifully cared for throughout that time. The home was always clean and fresh. The staff were fantastic and caring. The staffing ratio in my experience was very good. Many of the staff were long-serving members which indicates the apparent
good morale. During her final illness, my Mother could not have been cared for better and she was given a huge amount of time and care by all the staff. Abbey View and especially the Staff were fantastic.

I did not want my partner to go into a nursing home as I wished to look after him. I realised that it was becoming difficult and with the help of my partner's son we chose Abbey View - the best decision ever made. My partner is very happy, so, therefore, I am too.

The care shown to my Mum was outstanding, she was made to feel part of a fun and happy home. Mum really enjoyed all the activities and felt very special. During the last days, the staff took extra time to take care of not only Mum but all who visited her as well. The whole family would highly recommend

It is a home from home without the snags of being at home. I feel safe at night and have immediate assistance with any problem that arises. I feel the home is dealing with any covid issues as they arise very sympathetically and efficiently.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.831)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.831) out of 10 for Abbey View Nursing & Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.906 for Abbey View Nursing & Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (184 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 203 Ratings = 4.906
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey View Nursing & Residential Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
